American Idol
I missed the first 6 minutes. What did I miss???
American Idol
I think, BY FAR, the guys are better this year. Of course, I thought that last year too...Bo was robbed!
Anyway, I just love Taylor...there's just something about him that is genuine and warm, I don't know, I hope he wins!
What are your thoughts? Who's outta there tonight? I think either Kevin or Will...sorry to say, cause they're both cuties!
As for the girls, eehh...who cares? They just aren't...as Randy says...bringing it this year...nuff about them.
Ace is hot , Chris is just plain good ...but Taylor's still my pick!
American Idol
Taylor is something else - but so is Chris - he sang "Broken" like he really felt it last night. I am for either of them winning - as for the girls - Mandisa has it handsdown.
American Idol...sm
Ok, last night's show...
First, I can't believe that Kevin dodged the bullet and got into the top 12...but I'm glad, he seems like such a sweet kid. Kinda figured Will would go, but I liked Gedeon too.
I'm glad Ayla (sp?) got the boot, didn't like her. She was snotty! Kinnik was nothing special either, so guess she had to go too.
As for Bo's performance, I don't know...he seemed kinda off or something.
Now it gets good...the top 12...who's your pick to win? Mine's Taylor...or maybe Chris!
American Idol
There are only three left now. Who will be the winner? amj
Any American Idol Fans out there ?
nm
Brenna - American Idol
I was also very happy to see Brenna get voted off and the crap she said about making her own record. She sucked!
American Idol tonight!!
nm
American Idol Results.....SOON
The results are in............who is leaving American Idol tonight? We will know in about 30 minutes from now. My feeling is that either Kevin or Kellie are going home tonight......I like Kellie, but she really doesn't have the voice like the others, and Kevin, well, he speaks for himself - CHICKEN LITTLE - LOLOLOLOL!
I see it coming down to Chris and Kathryn!!!!!!!!
American Idol--who are your favs?
Mine are:
- Taylor (he just makes me happy)
- Mandisa (love her)
- Chris (he is awesome)
- Paris (so spunky)
- Katherine (so talented and controlled)
American Idol last night
How did everyone think it went last night? I was again disappointed by some of my favorites. I just love Mandisa and Taylor, yet they were not up to snuff at all last night.
American Idol Tour
Has anyone here ever gone to any of the tour shows?
american idol tour
Do Simon, Paula, Randy and Ryan go on the tour or is it just the idols?
I missed American Idol tonight.
:-)
Who watched American Idol tonight???
Cannot even believe that Bucky went home before Ace, Katherine, or Paris. Ace cannot sing at all! Bucky was not great, but it was definitely not his time to go!
RE American Idol. In the past Simon has said (sm)
America got it right. Do you think he will say that this year? In my opinion, these are the two WEAKEST contestants of this entire season. Taylor is very lounge-y and Kat is completely inconsistent. She'll do well with one song and not the other. I think Kat is more marketable and I think, somehow, Taylor made it in under the radar. JMO. What do you all think?
My favorite moment last night of American Idol...
I loved the moment when that Clay Aiken wannabe was given that razzie award and was singing Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me (much to the regret of my ears, LOL) and out walks Clay Aiken, the crowd goes wild and I'm sure the wannabe thought they were cheering for him. LOL I think he was truly shocked that Clay was there. Nobody could have acted his reaction out! I loved it.
Local radio station is giving away American Idol concer tickets. sm
They're running a contest for 2 free tickets. With the entry, you have to list what you would be willing to do in exchange for these tickets. The best/most original idea will win the tickets. Any suggestions? It has to be something the person would really be willing to do. I really want these tickets!!
Suggestion: new board category--Entertainment
Maybe you should consider establishing an Entertainment board, so that the Main Board doesn't fill up with so many long threads about movies, stars, and TV shows. I truly don't mean this as a knock to anyone,--and I enjoy these--but you do have to scroll through a lot of pages sometimes to get to the business-of-MT-type discussions. Just a thought.
LOL same discussion on another board but it was regarding a SM
wildlife cam and people didn't want others posting about it - is the same thing as saying "I demand you entertain me by posting what *I* want to hear about."
Idol chat board agrees - Paula was
wacked last night.
Please post religious discussion on the Religion board.
t
query is an Indian phrase. This is an American board isnt it?
holy cow.
love, love, love the show. hate american idol. this show is for real.
the only reason i entertained watching it was because of mark burnett and as usual he has such genious casting and editing. btw, don't know who anything about "metal" music but these performers make me like it. love marty and jd as performers. HATE JESSICA. susie is so nice and so emotional. it seems they all support each other and enjoy each others skills. regarding ty and bob marley, ty was excellent but he also lucked out on the song! bob marley was genious too and his music is very easy to listen to. i don't like 3/4 of what the others are given to sing but their performances make me love the music. dave navarro shines on this show, very gracious for the most part and letting the contestants down easy when they have to leave. he was great last night with brandon (?). sweet, sweet show. i am so impressed with everyone involved.

They've done nothing in the entertainment industry
Time to double your dosage and take a nap, dear. Sounds like you've gone over the deep end and are taking this way too personally.
You need to get out more.
If you have an Entertainment book there are coupons in it.

I needed the morning entertainment. My Monday will now be a better day!

That's just rent, phone, electric, car, car ins., gas, and food.
As per your request, Pets and Entertainment forums have been added.
he is not American on what was an American site
What we post, jobs posted, and those who are posting jobs have no way of knowing it is off shore because he is hiding it - what a great way to get more of our jobs - not sure why this does not bother you. But as an American it bothers me
Idol top 12
Bo seemed very happy. I think he had been careful to look cool while he was a contestant, but last night he could just have fun and not worry about a cool image. I don't think Ayla is snotty, but she's not as good as Katharine, and she also has her basketball to concentrate on. I think Melissa was shocked that she snuck through. And Kevin was blown away that he made it. I'm glad he did. He has a wonderful voice, though the music he chooses isn't exactly pop idol material, so he's not the total package. Will and Gideon leaving was okay with me. I figured Ace would make it through, though I don't enjoy him.
Now there are only one or two guys and one or two girls I won't mind getting the boot, though in the end I think the winner will be Chris or Elliott or Lisa or Katharine. I think Lisa is holding back to wow everybody at the end.
idol
Okay, I guess I'm one of the few who have never watched this show! However, i just had a doctor dictating, said "Katherine McVeigh is gonna do well only cause she is so bloomin' good looking. She cannot sing worth a hoot". I cracked up!
Idol Fan
I think Chris was just as shocked that "Cat" of all people beat him out! She has always been my least favorite! My favorite has always been Mr. Soul Patrol!! Of course you have to love Elliott too! Chris will be fine and probably have a record deal very soon.
Idol Nothing New
Unfortunately, I think the show is "fixed" every year. They latch on to a particular contestant and you can just see how much they favor that one person. It happened last year with Carrie. A few days before the finale, an article was posted on the internet from a newspaper that said when speaking about Carrie, "the winner of American Idol" even though the final show hadn't aired yet. Needless to say a day later the article disappeared
idol
I think Katherine is great if she sings the right song.
The so-called "reality show" is the lowest form of so-called entertainment in recent years
I hate them. They've ruined TV.
This weeks Idol
Hi all! What are your thoughts on last nights performances? I thought Kelly was just absolutely awful. Although, Katherine should be thanking her lucky stars that Kelly was as bad as she was, otherwise, I am sure that she would be getting the boot tonight. I thought that Elliot was the best by far last night. Chris is my second place. Taylor and Paris both did a good job. My final three are still Elliot, Chris, and Taylor.
I agree with your Idol Fan!
Kelli has been needing to go home for weeks now, luckily Bucky was worse than her. Elliott is also my favorite, has been since Day 1. And Chris is also my second favorite. Although I don't think Taylor has as strong as a voice as some of the others I absolultely love him! That show won't be the same without him! Hopefully Kelli goes home tonight!!!! I'm SO over her blond attitude! Elliott all the way!!!!
Idol this week
Elliott seems genuinely goofy. I'd like to see the guys perform a female artist's songs after Katharine was required to perform Elvis songs with all the guys.
Dial Idol
It's at www.dialidol.com. It's free to download. I have high speed internet on my laptop but also have the regular old phone line modem. It was so easy. I just downloaded the program. Plugged in the cord from the phone. It pretty much configured itself. Then when the show was over, I opened up the program. This last week, they only did two lines for each contestant instead of three. You don't have to put in the phone numbers or anything. You just select where you want your votes to go. You can split them if you want...but being you are Soul Patrol (Whoooo!) I don't think you will :) It does all of the dialing and redialing for you after that. I just walked away but came back to check on how it was doing. It also tracks who, according to it, is ahead based on number of calls, percentage of busy signals, etc. It's been about 85% accurate, and Taylor has been on top every week.
Idol Tickets
Dress up like a major fan with Idol T-shirt and other accessories and stand in front of local supermarket with a karaoke machine singing some famous Idol songs, "I believe", "A moment like this"! Oh, c'mon, that would be good! lol
Trying to keep this discussion near the top... SM
not because I am egocentric and feel I need to be at the top, but because I just don't want to have to scroll down and look for it every time I have something to add. So, it's not arrogance, it's convenience. Also I would just like to add that I posted my "credentials" so to speak because I was asked to defend my position with what made me qualified to talk about poor MTs.
Anyway, I don't know if I could be classified as an old-timer as I've not had to transcribe on manual typewriters from belts, but I did start out in transcription in the late 80s, right before the internet boom. So I did start out in an office with other MTs who could lend me an ear and give me advice, but most of them were old-timers who felt lost when the internet did hit and changed our profession forever. So all of my computer skills, internet skills, and researching skills are self-taught out of necessity. Because I took the time and made the effort to hone my internet and research skills, I moved up the transcription food chain and moved passed a lot of the old-timers who trained me. I guess I just have no patience for "old-timers" who wear their years of experience like a badge of honor, but then use those same years as an excuse for not using the internet efficiently.
I am more than willing to educate or mentor an MT, whatever it takes, but the MT has to want and accept constructive criticism gracefully instead huffing and puffing about how mean and evil QA is. Most of the time MTs ignore their feedback and make the same mistake again and again. I can quote chapter and verse out of the BOS to an MT trying to illustrate why they are wrong and it will not matter. They see "QA" on an email in their inbox and automatically hit delete without a passing glance.
I am not the enemy in this war called transcription. MTs and QA should be allies against offshoring and we should be trying to elevate our status in health information chain, but we can't be allies and we can't accomplish anything if MTs are constantly paranoid that QA is "out to get them." The sad truth is that eventually we QA people are going to have no other options except unemployment or educating the Indian MTs and ironically the Indian MTs will welcome any feedback that will help them get more work from American MTs.
To all those who posted that I have a big head and have launched personal attacks, I would say you the ones who are arrogant and big headed if you can't just accept that you are wrong sometimes and you can always learn something new and maybe you can learn that something new from me, the QA person who has proven her skills, passed a harder employment test, to get the QA job I have today.
You can call me names and insult me, but the truth hurts and obviously those who are defensive have reason to be.
Well, we were having this discussion about VR in -
the past, maybe 10 years ago, and it never amounted to much of a threat. Considering the amount of trouble I have (and the mistakes I make) just using the touch-screen in the supermarket self-checkout line, I wonder how it will work with your average, technology-challenged doctor.
I also have to wonder - how would such reports be QA'ed? I assume they'd go straight to a medical record, & with no voice file to check against, or worse yet, the doc doing his OWN proofing, I feel I could look into a crystal ball and say, 'I see lawsuits!'
;D
this isn't a religious discussion...sm
I didn't ask for *religious* advice, I simply asked for opinions...that's not religious...I know what God thinks about this subject...
"House" discussion!!!
What are everybody's thoughts on the show tonight regarding House and Stacy. Do you think he told her no because:
A: He feels he is not good enough for her.
B: He does not want to hurt Mark after Mark came to see him.
C: He feeds off his misery and can't give that up.
What a great show, great lines tonight.
See the recent discussion
on page 2 or 3 of the company board.
I do believe as stated in this discussion
that we should care for them. I just want to respond to some things said. Yes, our parents have decades to prepare. But my parents worked very hard and were extremely smart with their money and had a good savings when my Dad became ill. However, to put him in a nursing home is thousands of dollars a month. His insurance paid 0 for it and Medicare only paid 20 days. For him to stay it would have drained every pain fast (and it did) and then he would get state aid of course. If you can at all help it, a nursing home is NOT where you want to put a loved one. Some are great if you can afford them, but even the ones you think are good can be very remiss in care. Trust me, I've seen it. They're grossly understaffed and some employees should not be in that field, enough said. I don't and didn't at ANY time feel caring for my Dad was a burden. I did feel it was my responsibility. He's a member of my family. If my brother or sister became ill and had no family to care for them, I would certainly feel it's my responsible to at the very least help them get care but for certain to make sure they're cared for. I can't say how a person should feel towards an abusive parent since thankfully I have no experience in that. No, I wouldn't want to 'burden' my children with caring for me when I'm old. But if I raise them right and I happen to need care, I would hope they would feel privileged and blessed like I did, to help make sure I get what I need.
My involvement in this discussion ...
... was not meant to be inflammatory. I arrived on this site out of interest and was naturally drawn to this thread, however, I was not prepared to stand by while some of the posters spoke about Third World countries and denigrated our physicians and specialists - would you? I responded to an intelligent post by Dinosaur, I had no idea it would get as out of hand as this. The fact of the matter is our specialists do not outsource, they definitely do not send offshore. The work I do is for specialists for whom I physically worked for many years ago, the work I do offshore is not for any US companies, it is directly for physicians and specialists that have come to me via my website. I have had all of my clients for the past six years. Yes, I work for a lower rate of pay than you do, but I can assure you the cost of living is not cheap here; I need to work 12 hours a day, seven days a week and I am grateful for the work that I have and I really do value my clients. I turn the work around within 1 – 12 hours, they never have to wait for work. I am at the end of a line, all day, every day, should they need any urgent reports done. All I am saying is, do not underestimate people who live elsewhere in the world and their needs and willingness to work as hard as you do.
A.
Interesting discussion about it
Over at MT Chat. One of the posters somehow found all the old info about the site ownership.
