Troubles with Teething - Baby, Baby, Baby
Hi. My little guy is teething soooooo bad and I am wondering if any of you have some ideas that I can try, to hopefully make his life (and my life) a little easier to deal with? lol. We've tried Tylenol - with little pain relief, but much diarreha! We've tried Orajel - it seems to wear off too fast to make a difference. We've tried teething toys - help for only a few minutes (not nearly enough time for me to get any work done!). His appetite is normal, but his sleep schedule has been totally disrupted (as has mine). For the last 2 nights, he has woke up every couple hours. I would think he would be exhausted during the day....but he never goes to sleep. He is more fussy than usual and alittle more clingy, but overall he is very playful. His pediatrician gave me some suggestions (the above) that I have tried with little to no help, so I am desperate for new ideas! He is cutting multiple teeth right now (and just got a few new ones last week too) so he is in a lot of pain. Poor little guy. I appreciate all ideas that anyone has. Thanks in advance.  :)

Makeover Savings
Keep the creamy, cheesy flavor of this popular dip by combining Parmesan and mozzarella cheese in place of 2 cups of mozzarella cheese, and using 3/4 cup KRAFT Mayo Light Mayonnaise. These simple tweaks will save 50 calories and 5.5 grams of fat per serving compared to the traditional recipe!

Variation - Awesome Spinach and Mushroom Dip
Substitute 1 cup chopped mushrooms for the artichoke hearts.

So, you have to be in the "in crowd"
to get an invitation???  It seems to me that it would be polite to not talk about The Other Board if it is private.  Very bad manners.
Pass on the spinach. E. coli phobia. nm

We have a lot of seasoned MTs interested; it is the newbie crowd that wants to be
at home only. I have to admit that was the biggest shock to all of us that are working on the set up of this. There are a lot of experienced MTs that like the socialization and structure of working in an office or hospital, as long as the pay, benefits and conditions are good. We are going to make it as close to (or better) working in a hospital so that it is appealing to all.

what'd you serve with it?
mashed potatos, pasta, rice? All of the above! I'm a carb freak, can you tell. I personally appreciate any good, quick and easy recipes.  It's like I never have time to "cook" anymore! I mean really cook, like mama used to!  excuse me, I'm gettin' all choked up! LOL
This is one I serve sometimes
Skillet-browned chicken breasts; chilled pasta salad; mashed sweet potatoes.

Make your pasta salad first and let it get good and cold before serving. Boil a bag of tricolor rotini and drain, immediately immerse in cold water. I add a drained can of LeSeur baby peas, a drained can of LeSeur baby carrots, sometimes a drained can of niblet corn, and any other tender veggies you want. Toss with about 1 to 1-1/2 cups of either low-fat Italian or Ranch dressing, depending on the taste you want. Chill until dinner.

Chicken: Heat 1 tablespoon of extra-virgin olive oil. Rinse and pat dry your boneless skinless chicken breasts and simply rub with salt and pepper -- gently brown in the olive oil.

Mashed sweet potatoes: Peel and cut into chunks 2-3 good-size sweet potatoes. Boil until tender and drain. Mash with salt, pepper, and a dash of milk.

Join the crowd. No it isnt just you. Is that what they tell you. That seems to be MQ favorite line
that they tell their robots to tell us. Its just you. Bull. You aint alone my dear. Just cant figure where the lines went.
haha - must have been one of those hospital grab bags.

LOL

Does it serve your financial needs?
The main criteria for any job wage would be whether you think it is a fair trade for your skills and will it provide what you need it to financially.

I personally would not work for $15 an hour. However, your needs may be different from mine. I also have other options. You may not.

It is a very subjective question and one that only you can really answer.

Make something similar, but I ditch the pimento and add some chopped scallions or spinach instead
s
What state, close to what cities. I'm packing my bags, LOL.
I do think people would do this.  I have a friend who moved south for the same reasons, great job offered, moving expenses paid, and she visited the area and LOVED it (I did too).  This sounds exactly like the kind of place my DH would love to live.
Janet's boob was a better halftime show than these old bags! nm

That is a noble thing, I believe . To serve for
I started in the early 80s and worked my way through college, and decided to keep with it rather than go for my intended job in the liberal arts. I have never been sorry. I have always been inspired. From steno pad to manual typewriter, and rolling fax machines. From white out to voice editing, I still believe it to be a noble profession. Good for you!
Same thing here, only the crows peck all the bags open and drag it around. nm

Fresh Salsa Recipe Too!
Here's the recipe for the salsa too...my husband begs me to make it every summer when the fresh tomatoes are in season. I love the flavor of the cilantro and lime juice. Yum!

FRESH SALSA

-12-14 LARGE ROMA TOMATOES
-ONE BUNCH FRESH CILANTRO
-ONE SMALL SWEET OR VIDALIA ONION (MORE OR LESS TO TASTE)
-ONE GREEN PEPPER
-2 CLOVES GARLIC
-JALAPENO PEPPER (START WITH A FEW THIN SLICES TILL DESIRED
TEMP.)
2 ˝ t. SALT
2 ˝ t. Lawry’s SEASON SALT
JUICE OF ˝ LIME (OPTIONAL)

IN A FOOD PROCESSOR, ADD CUT UP TOMATOES WITH A HANDFUL OF CILANTRO, PULSE TILL CHOPPED BUT NOT LIQUID. THIS WILL TAKE A FEW LOADS. POUR INTO LARGE BOWL.

ADD ONION, GARLIC AND GREEN PEPPER TO PROCESSOR. PULSE TILL FINELY CHOPPED. ADD TO BOWL.

ADD SEASONINGS AND MIX WELL.

LEAVE IN BOWL FOR ONE HOUR. MIX AGAIN AND TASTE TO SEE IF YOU NEED TO ADD ANY MORE HEAT OR SPICES.

KEEP IN FRIDGE (MUST BE KEPT COLD). USE WITHIN 5 DAYS. MAKES 2 TO 2 ˝ QUARTS.

You are welcome - you are like a breath of fresh, unpolluted air! (nm)

Being a "service" employee is still fresh...

in my mind.  Maybe after I've been out of the loop for a few more years, I might start to forget what it was like.  But I highly doubt it, because all I have to do is go to any store, hospital, bank, restaurant, heck even a traffic light and just watch...watch the angry, impatient, "me me me me me me" people out there.

Working at home...I kinda feel like I'm my own boss.  Sure there are e-mails and TAT issues, but I actually have control over most of that stuff.  I get out of my job what I put into it.  Yeah, some days are harder than others, but that's just life.

Fresh in my mind are the 8+ hour days of standing on my feet ALL DAY LONG at a register on Mother's Day in a sweltering hot greenhouse putting foil and bows on potted plants, or answering phones at an answering service that were so busy that at the end of 4 hours my voice would be hoarse, or being unable to pee because there was a line of ornery patient's waiting with scowls on their face because THEY needed their outpatient tests booked RIGHT NOW because THEY were on their lunch break and their time is money!  (and then when you finally do get the chance to pee, some nasty-a$$ crotch-cricket-ridden patient decided to leave a floater or pee on the seat!)  And all of this was at least 10 years ago now and still painfully vivid.

So yeah, go ahead and work in the real trenches and then make a fair comparison of working at home versus working somewhere else.  Whackin' on keys and having to repeatedly playback some ESL now and again ain't nuthin' compared to putting up with a bunch of crap that you can only imagine if you haven't experienced it first hand.

Fresh out of school with no "real"

experience you have no clue.  You don't know about various platforms, equipment needed, insurance, taxes, contracts, not to mention your transcription skills are limited and you have no QA skills.

Unfortunately there are many like you who seemed to have not investigated this business and how hard it is to get a job before taking classes and then end up in the same position as you, graduating and no chances of a job.

Another change is that fresh out of school 15 yrs ago,

Fresh strawberry preserves!! SEND ME SOME TOO!
I love fruit preserves!
Jewelsy, you're a breath of fresh air (sm)

I appreciate your experience and insight!  I agree about clinic work being boring; so is radiology.  And VR/speech rec has really taken over radiology and clinic, the same for EMR.  I know it's going to be a huge challenge for a few months, but I'm up for the challenge!  Plus I've done interventional radiology-type transcription (minimally invasive procedures) with really tough dictators, so I have a bit of a heads up.

Thanks again!  I'd like to update you in my transition late this summer.
