My rant re: "a match made in trailer heaven - two skanks in a crud"
Let me FIRST say that I do not usually rant, I am not a ranter, if something bugs me I take a deep breath, look at the offending item in the grand scheme of my life and realize that most of the time it isn't that big a deal. However, these condescending trailer park references that I run into are a bunch of crap!
How can you make a derogetory referrence regarding people who live in trailers? If it had something to do with race or sex you have been flamed by the whole board. I am sick and tired of generalizations directed basically towards me! I live in a trailer in a trailer park and I MOST CERTAINLY am not a skank. I have heard it all, white trash, trailer trash, skank, etc. when people talk about parks. My town even named it a "Manufactured House Community" and hid it where you can't see it! I am here because I can afford it here. The average price for a house in my town in Maine is $250,000 ++. While we do just fine, I cannot afford that on my MT salary (been MT for 6 years) even though my husband works his butt off at 3 jobs. Oh sure, we could probably get a loan for a $300,000 house but I refuse to get in over my head in debt just to convince people like YOU I am in your league! I also LIKE it here. My neighbors are the best I have had. All of our homes (trailers) are well maintained, the lawns are spotless, and there is not a single car up on blocks that I can see anywhere!! Don't even bother to tell me that is not the norm for parks because there are 300+ trailers in this park and they are all just as well taken care of!
Another thing that irritates me is the word "skank". I have never understood why women have to tear each other down using trashy descriptions like that. Of course I am sure there are those out there who DESERVE the title but most of the time women seem to judge based on the look of the offending party.
You may think your comment was tiny and I am blowing it out of proportion, but I am not! It is comments like that that makes people like my neighbors ashamed to even tell people where they live.
I have said my piece and I await the flaming. When you drive through my park (yah right) and see me standing on the nice, green lawn in front of my pretty trailer with my 7-year-old in the yard, my toddler on my hip, looking very pregnant in my cutoffs and tank tops, you can THINK "skank" all you want. I KNOW that I am a strong, educated, well-employed woman with a nice little family who refuses to put all our happiness and our hard-earned savings on the line to prove that I am EQUAL to people like you!
I have done that. Found my match. Moved up
Before any asks: MQ.
Before any complains: Every company has those who love it, like it, have no opinion, don't like it, hate it. Every single one of them. It has worked well for me and I wouldn't leave it for anything.
And that's my story, I'm happy to say!
I found that the more OT I made, the more of it
Sometimes after working 8 hours OT in a month, and after the taxes I had to pay on it, I came out making LESS. OT is okay here and there, but not as depended-upon income.
Trailer's and trailer parks
Saw on the Travel Channel the ones in Malibu...I HAVE a home appraised at 239,000 and only wish I could sell it, get rid of all the sniveling neighbors and move into a nice trailer & park, where I could actually have the time to enjoy me neighbors and live, rather than work my butt off for this "brick house"
Keep your attitude, and enjoy your home. My bro lives in a fantastic "mobile home estate" and has just the best community. He had emergency surgery, quite unexpected, but you can rest assurred there were meals at his door, which was swept off and his yard and garden well tended.
to match............*LOL*........nm
.
It was a good match
I agree with you....Venus most definitely over-reacted!!! I felt like it was a staged display! Of course, if you remember back four or five years ago, both Venus and Serena had very terrible and negative attitudes. Quite honestly, I don't think they have changed. I, of course, was hoping Lindsay Davenport would win....I'm all old tennis pro from the 60's and "grunting" and "squeeling" was not even HEARD of! I know Sharipova is good but I don't watch too many of her matches because her noises make me sick!!! Venus is certainly vocal enough during play...do they check for steroids of tennis players???? Maybe they should!
I think though with SE the employer has to match the SS but IC is not that way. I rather like SE
status and I know there are some companies that have that but I dont know which ones.
I tried them and when it was not a good match, they were
very rude to me and ignored my emails. Not a good company
Hubby is a CPA - I try to match him in pay :)
x
Do you mean things like Match.com?
or do you mean sleazy type stuff that is advertised during the Jerry springer show at midnight?
My mom met her hubby online. She had a profile set up and a coworker of his saw it and said - this woman sounds perfect for you.
They met, hit it off immediately, and were married within a couple of years. Shortly before they got married, she was diagnosed with cancer, and now it is stage 4. She has been through chemo multiple times, radiation, surgery, blood transfusions.....and he has been by her side through it all. He is a real gem.
She had to kiss a lot of frogs she met IRL before finding this guy.
I don't doubt married men use these sites though. Remember the story of the guy that was deployed to Iraq and got engaged to multiple women in the US online? They found out about each other before he got back I think. It was in the news a couple of years ago.
No - My employer does match (sm)
The SS tax, so I guess I'm technically a statutory employee with the added benefit of a very flexible schedule that an IC would have.
Match maker
I tested with them. They then called me and said I would be hearing from them within a week. Called me back to say they were busy and would get back to me real soon with the company's info. I never heard from that again and that was months ago now! As far as I am concerned how can they possibly help you ifnd the perfect job if you dont contact me. Forget it, it is not worth the time for the test!
The match that employer would pay just 7.xx%.

E-MTS has 401K plus match and benefits. Try them.
x
When it comes time, i will match what they earn.
c
Electric motor repairman. I'll never match his pay.
But the more you make the more you spend.
Hey! I saw that picture last week on Match.com?!?! better check his email
just kiddin!
Have you considered asking your current employer to match the new offer?
Of course before you do that, you would have pretty much decided to take the new offer if they say no.
Make your life easier, pick which name to go by and have EVERYTHING match. sm
yes, it's a pain to stand in line at the SS office, adn the DMV, and you have to fill out forms, but avoid all confusion which WILL arise in the future with a little effort now.
7th Heaven
I am really going to miss it too! I love 7th Heaven!
7th Heaven
Hard to find good shows the whole family can watch. We will miss it.
I would be in heaven
Lordy, I would be so thrilled if I could make 200 lines an hour!
Obviously in whatever was said about trailer parks,
nobody was referring to you and you seem to have taken it too personally. No flames here. Just understand, trailer parks got their bad name long before you came along. Yes, there are some nice ones out there, but the majority that get into the spotlight get there because of bad things. So, don't take it personally unless it applies to you and hopefully now that you've had your rant you feel better.
Trailer "trash"
I also live in a mobile home but not in a park at the present time.We have our own five acres of land. We get this slander type of talk all the time. Half of my relatives live in nice double wides. Who cares?? At least we are not paying big bucks per month for a house payment just to keep up with the Joneses. When some of the people who live in fancy houses lose their jobs, their house will be the first thing to hit the auction block. We owned a huge house in a nice neighborhood but since being retired, who needs all that upkeep plus the high taxes???
I say live and let live. I personally like mobile homes, trailers, double wides, manufactured housing--whatever you want to call them.
Trailer parks
My neighborhood will allow it, but they have a lot of obstacles -- fortunately. I don't even thing trailer park developers or landlords care about the folks they sell to. Trailers DEPRECIATE in value, unlike standard housing. Banks won't even lend money to finance or mortgage them. You have to finance them through other means, usually with high interest rates. Not a smart investment.
Trailer Parks
Where the heck have yu been? I know may peple with great educations.. problem is the job market is pathetic. You sound like a person from SNOBSVILLE.. you ought to me up with my ex. There is absolutely nothing to be ashamed about living a mobile park. and for your information lady, you bettr have good credit and a good recommendation or else the will not take you in some of the trailer parks. You are a snob and an arrogant woman. Where you from NEW YORK? Have you ever lived in a a mobile home park. Most low income could NOT afford it, after all when you have to pay 500 bucks a month for lot rent. you are so full of it....I live in a mobile home court and Love it. it's clean, with security, and there are no old mobile homes in this court. Get off your high horse...GEEZ.. THEY DO REQUIRE CREDIT CHECKS MS SMARTY PANTS.
Don't need to be cleaning no trailer.
Y'all can jist haul it off and git you a new one iffen it gets dirty.
I would rather have someone haul it than me with a trailer (sm)
We had to rent a trailer to put behind out pickup one time to go pick up some jet skis. It was only about a 90 mile drive, but it was a horror. We went through a lot of construction and the lanes were narrow. I wasn't driving, but if I had been, I would have crashed. DH was even amazed that he got them through without scraping the sides. Even if it costs a little extra, I think it would be well worth it to have it hauled for you. They will insure it. I know it has "special value", but I'm sure it will be fine. Good luck. Let us know how you make out.
When I first heard Barbra many, many years ago, I felt no one could match or exceed
her vocal range and clarity, until I was introduced to Celine performing at the Olympics. I had no idea at that time who she was, had never heard of her, but was instantly and totally mesmerized by her voice, power & range. At that moment my feeling that Barbra was the best dissipated, and I have become a dedicated fan of Celine's. I just feel that on top of her range & pitch, her emotions are felt through each of her songs and is unsurpassed.
Oh, for Heaven's sake -
nm
Why in heaven do you even have to "ask" him? - sm
This is a tool of your trade. If your husband were a carpenter and needed a saw, would he ask you? I can assure you he wouldnt. He would just run out and get one. Just go get one for goodness sake.
Kevin is heaven?
If kevin is heaven then.....aw nevermind...lol
good voice but do we really want a nerd to represent America???
I'd rather just pay the money and go to heaven.
nm
Do you work in heaven?
Man, I'd love a job at home with full benefits. Not many of those around here (Los Angeles), if any at all. If the company I
previously worked for at home had those, I never would have gone back to the word-factory of in-house transcription! Consider yourself very blessed!
For heaven's sake! It's not THAT bad!
You can go to CareerStep, one of the "top 3" schools for about $1,600, and if you work at it you should be able to finish it in 9-12 months. As for purchasing equipment, you'll get a foot pedal with your course and Express Scribe (the software you'll use to actually transcribe) is free. You will have to buy a few reference books and some fairly cheap software--that all shouldn't run you more than $400-$500, tops. I'm assuming you already have a computer, or else how could you have posted this note?
Now, there are jobs being taken over by software and being outsourced to other countries. And there ARE doctors who dictate TERRIBLY. But there are still some decent jobs out there and decent doctors as well. If you work at it and sell yourself well, you should do okay. Good luck!
well for heaven sakes, huh FUN FUN FUN
I need to watch now, getting a bit weary of so many this-and-that contest though. Awaiting return of Dancing with the Stars though. Loved it last time, so fun fun fun. I've seen Alicia Keys on Leno, brought back two in quick time, she played piano and say. She is good and so young, so many of them are so young and really have talent too not just a lot of loud hoopla of this-and-that.
How exciting for you both.
For Heaven's sake... don't do what I did!
I accepted a position with another company, turned in my resignation when I received the acceptance letter from the other company. Friday will be my last day on the job, and I have not heard from the other company as to downloading software on computer and my first day is supposed to be Monday. My employer has already hired someone in my place, so I can't ask for my old job back. The past several days I've sent out about 5 or so resume's to various companies.
And for heaven's sake....
don't dictate in the bathroom. That's waaaaaay more than we want to hear!
Lived in a trailer for years
The only reason I'm not still in one is because I moved in with my boyfriend who had a bigger house. If I was by myself, I would buy another trailer. I was always perfectly happy in mine; actually, I loved it, and could afford it, without going into serious debt. I would buy a newer trailer right now if my boyfriend would agree, because I hate a 2-story, but haven't convinced him yet.
A trailer would be an improvement over my house.
I would love to be able to afford a nice trailer. At least most of them have two bathrooms. Right now they are out of my league. I live in an older house on a farm (170 acres that we have paid for). I am not sure I would enjoy living in a "park", but more because of the lack of privacy than for pride. Now there are really nice upscale communities of manufactured homes. Of course there are still a lot of snobs around who look down at their noses at anyone who does not live up to perceived standards. My brother works for a dealership. I have visited and looked at those homes. Some of them are out of this world. Some are made up to the quality of a regular house and cost accordingly. With some of the shoddy construction I have seen in new homes lately, no one really can honestly say that these houses are any better than a "trailer".
Trailer park dwelling
Fine if you want to live in a trailer park, but you should have to pay property taxes. If you want to be treated like everyone else, then pay taxes like everyone else. We had this issue in our community, and we did fight against having a trailer park, because that means the surrounding community has to subsidize the schooling, police, fire, garbage pickup, and all the other services for a trailer park or manufactured home community. I found all this out during months leading up to stopping a trailer park developer. I do believe trailer park dwellers should be treated like everyone else, which means they should have to pay property taxes like everyone else. Currently, in Michigan, they don't. That's not only wrong, it is preferential treatment for manufactured home communities. I'm sure you're as respectable as you say, so start paying your own way instead of making a community subsidize you!
The trailer I had was not on a permanent foundation,
the wheels were removed, and the interest rate was not outrageous.
i made $15/hr before and didn't stay long because i made so much more on production. sm
that was with full benes too. i wouldn't do it for less than $20, but i think even with $20, i'd want benes. are you in-house?
For heaven's sake, where is your lawyer?
Your divorce is final in 2 weeks, and you're asking this super important question to MTs on a message board? PLEASE ask your lawyer.
heaven should be closed to most IRS agents
As soon as possible, talk to an attorney who specializes in this. Ask them if you can file Chapter 13 bankruptcy. In many cases, you can ultimately pay up to 10% of a past owed date.
While this is being haggled in the courts, you can send money, or not. You will have the protection of the federal government, who will handle another branch of the federal government.
Just never miss a single payment to the courts.
At-home MT about 10 years ago...it was heaven...
I had no complaints about MT-ing really...worked from home, made lots of money with no worries or pressure, worked the hours I pretty much wanted so I could enjoy my 'real' life, it was the best job I ever had ~
I quite miss it
Oh for heaven's sake...if she knew how to...
do that, she wouldn't have a question! Anyway, what platform do you use? Most of the time you will find a folder in the "My Documents" folder or in the hard drive (go to "My Computer" and click on your hard drive--usually C:) by the same name as your platform. Inside that folder will be your templates. When you get there, you can press Ctrl and F together. A screen will come up asking what you want to search for. Click "All files and folders". Where it says "All of part of the file name:" put "*.dot" (without the quotes). This will find all of the templates within that folder. Hope this helps.
How dare you? I used to live in a trailer and was not a skank
I do not live in a trailer park, but you are one snobby B-
aa
college kids in trailer parks? where?
that's a new one. i never saw a trailer park on campus or even near a campus.
it is heaven and paradise all rolled into one-I hope you get to go soon.
Kauai and Molokai are my personal favorites because they are the least developed (that people can visit)
