AVG is not for hacks

AVG is a virus software. It stops viruses. Virus software was great when Trojans were the biggest threat, but they no longer are. The majority of hacks these days come from keyloggers and spyware. You get these when you go to websites posing as someone else and even from legitimate sites. Ads primarily contain keyloggers. They run a script on your pc that you are unaware of. It logs every stroke, password and other information and sends it out.
If you want to be safe from this type of assault, then stop using MS Internet Exploder and switch to Mozilla Firefox and use the addon "no script". It's a little work to get it set up (learning curve like everything new) but it is the only way to be safe.
Firewalls are important as well. I have a router and Zone Alarm. You also need protection from spyware. It can seriously clog a PC and I've seen many that no longer work until Spyware is cleaned.
No antivirus software will totally protect you. You need many tools for many different threats. Sadly, the more protection you have the more complicated and slower things become. So it become a matter of balancing what works for you.
Good Luck
