That should highest paid work at home jobs...look at number 7 to see the pic and listing!
That picture sure made me laugh. :)
Been interviewing for jobs this week, today a company
confirmed what we have been saying all along, they send the good dictation overseas and leave the crap for us.
Highest pay is anything you get paid. They still owe me

All I can say is make sure you have the highest - sm
Kbps modem available, 56?. That is what I use, the highest connection I can get is 44. If I get lower than that I just disconnect and try again until I get that or at least 33. Even if you do get satellite, most companies don't allow that anyway, so it's DSL, cable or no job. DSL is so close to me now, but I still don't have it, a friend has it who is 6 miles from me, but I don't, something to do with the towers (though I have 1 about 1.5 miles from me). What I find funny is Verizon offering high-speed DSL that is only 756 Kbps, that is not much faster than I get now with dial-up, makes me wonder a bit about it, thought DSL was faster than that, or are there different levels of DSL like dial-up connections? Anyway, I feel your pain, all I can say is try to find a job that uses FTP, has a 24 hr. TAT, and then it does not matter what type of connection you use. My daily downloads take anywhere from 5-30 minutes depending on the size of my voice files, don't matter though. I don't see why it matters to any MTSO what you have since usually you are working on a file while another is downloading, there ususally is no downtime due to the length of the download other than that first one. Whatever.
35 years here and highest 8
NM
20+ years here and still the highest offered
Consider yourself lucky if you've been offered more than 8 cpl for an MTSO. Now your own accounts is a different story. I make way more with my own accounts.
Its the highest rate I have heard of for IC work
I have not heard of rates that high where I live (Tampa, FL.) The highest I have heard for IC work is 12/13 cpl and thats pretty rare!
If thats pretty common in your area then dont back down, but around here that would be considered very high.
Hope it all works out!
Perhaps vacuuming is your highest calling in life...

I think Medtrans Unlimited pays the highest sm
They are in Austin,TX. Once at six months, it is 1.70 per regular minute and 2.12 a stat minute. On lines accounts it is .08 reg, .10 stat gross line. The company is strict and picky, and the software technical. However, you can easily make $1,000 a week there.
I would contact your highest in command. A medical
record is a legal document and could potentially contain info that would contribute to a life/death situation. If I were in a position of authority she would be gone yesterday.
I think I participated in that; certainly fit in the highest %tile in just about all categories.

Doubting this seriously myself. Even the highest producers here don't crank it out that fast. nm

You are taking it literally, which is not what I meant. I would rather not pay the highest price
out there, as I'm on a budget.
How much is the highest/lowest pay for an MT working in CorTmedical? Kindly reply.
I'm just curious to know how much do they pay an MT who just started working with them. Thanks.
Underscoring lists......sm
I don't think there is any hard and fast rule regarding this. Your client obviously isn't BOS obsessed as "any" underscoring in a list is a no no. If underscoring is an account specific rule, I personally would underscore the title only. The easiest solution is to check some previous reports and just follow suit, or better yet .. ask.
I am not sure about the waiting lists here yet,
but I do know that the program only takes so many students. That will probably be another thing I will have to factor in too. Great tip on taking the electives while waiting though. I am only going for the associate's degree as well. Are you interested in going into psych too?
Rad reports with dem info lists
My first remote job typing rad reports was for a local agency who provided such a great interface with the hospital, all I had to do was put in the job # from the dictaphone and all fields would fill in, then go right to typing in WP using all my short-cut keys. A lot of the reports were short, some long, and I wound up making really good $ that way for years. Then they went to VR (sigh). That's the way to go if you can get it; I won't put in multiple steps I'm not paid to to put in. Good luck.

Turning numbering on and off for lists
Does anyone know the keystroke commands or if they even exist to turn numbering off and on for lists? I hate having to use the mouse to point at the menu and going that route!

Expander that lists next to cursor
I would like to know if there is an Expander out there that will actually list the expansion next to our cursors while we type so we do not have to look down at the bottom of the monitor to see the expansion. I know if the expansions popped up in front of me I would use them more. Just curious
Numbered lists in MS Word... How do you
Make the list NOT indent? I want it to stay flush on the right with the rest of the paragraphs? I feel like this should be something easy and I am just spacing out!
Portability of short-cut lists
You may want to get an Expander program like ShortHand or Instant Text. They allow you to use your short-cut list(s) in any application you type in, and you will never have to redo your list(s) when you change accounts or company platforms.
Portability of abbreviation lists
Your question raises the portability of abbreviation lists when you use different trascription platforms.
Each platform offers a utility where you can create your list of abbreviations, but you don't want to start over and over each time you change platforms. The solution to this problem is that EITHER these platforms provide you with another utility that lets you convert your list to their format OR you invest in an Expander software like ShortHand or Instant Text that let you use your list practically on all platforms. With Instant Text you can import your AutoCorrect with a few clicks and then you can use it with EMDAT or any other platform. Your time is worth money. You may want to evaluate how much it is worth by calculating how much time it takes to redo your list.
I always defer to Dorland's, which lists
curet as the preferred spelling. Neither is incorrect. Curette is more characters and I supposed over years and years that could add up. Maybe I should switch to curette.
Where did you find the lists for Autotext?
I did not see any lists for autotext for free or ones that could be ordered. Where did you find them? Can you give me a link? Thanks
Word lists more than one .acl file so you want to be...
sure you find the correct one for your version of Word. Each version names that file differently. There are also different language .acl files.
How to quickly number med lists?
What is the quickest way to number a medication list? We have to number all of a patient's medications in a vertical list (voice recognition). - very time consuming - slowing me down. Any MT's found a fast way to number medications and put in a straight list on left margin QUICKLY? This is ridiculous. The voice recognition correctly or incorrectly gives the medications, but it is very slow numbering them and putting them in a vertical list -and we are required to do that. Any help would be appreciated!
My favorite speciality is the office who dictates it and pays the highest line rate.
It's the money, honey, that matters to me.
Once you are real good, you can think about supper, lists,
I know that sounds nonproductive and error prone, but it's entirely doable. The work can take up your limbic system, and your upper cortex can solve the problems of the world. I can read notices on my cubby wall, and never falter typing, and get it perfectly right.
Make your expander lists portable
The esp file can be saved as mentioned. The next step is to make it work in Bayscribe. One solution is to use Instant Text and import your esp file. Once your Expander file is an Instant Text glossary, it is portable and you can use it on any MTSO transcription platform.

Yes, I bought it and you can either buy the lists for Instant Text
or ShortHand I believe, when you buy it, it gives you the option of what word Expander you want to use it with. Unfortunately, I never did use it. First of all, I couldn't get used to it and the rules with how to bring up a word. I think it was something like if a word is 4 or more letters, use the first 2 letters to bring it up, and then another rule if the word is 5 or more letters, bring up the first and then last letter of the word...so on and so on. I have found that I have my own way of shortcuts and can't use someone's else's method. Now I just use Shorthand and auto text in Emdat, and that' s working for me. It might work for you, just in order to get the full benefit, you have to follow his rules for it, and that is where my mind couldn't go.

Enumerated lists and underlining for headings in exam
I was wondering if any of you can help me, and possibly even give me a reference, regarding enumerated lists, specifially in an exam. Example is:
1. General Comments:
2. Response to Medication:
3. Medication Compliance:
Etc.
What I am wondering is the clinic likes the section to be underscored (i.e., General Comments); however, should the underscore include the number or just the words titling that section? I have been doing the latter; however, the person I share the account with underlines both the number and title.
Thanks for your help.

Believe it or not, that's the kind of stuff we see all day long on a daily basis. Your resentment for QA is shining through. Perhaps you recognize some of these errors....
HELP with Shorthand. Suddenly today when I tried to start work today.sm
my ShortHand would type only the first letter of an expansion and then take all the letters away! I checked and the Type It button is grayed out! I have restarted the computer and looked on the Shorthand Help menu but can find nothing that applies. Can anyone please help me ASAP? I am lost without it! TIA
Perhaps you are right. This one is dated today. The original article was on Yahoo today also with
But this article states it would only affect new customers right now. So I am upset over nothing. I went through heck with BellSouth when they charged me a surcharge of an extra 50 a month and then would write a letter saying I had to switch to a long distance service and pay by the minute because of my "excessive" use. They told me the unlimited charge was for an average of an hour a day not somebody who worked out of their home and I needed to switch a business plan at over 200 a month charge. I switched over to cable because of that and then to read that cable was going to charging on a per use fee and not a flat monthly fee it upset me. It is the nature of our work, VR, only paying for VBC, having headers and footers taken away, now being charged for being on line, etc. It just seems that everything is done to keep to insure less money.
I'd quit! Too much busy work. So much of this is automated now, lists, names, etc. Move on and fi

supposed to be, after people lose their jobs, they are forced to take part-time, lower-paying jobs..

ExtText by Dictaphone -- Word 2000 - won't capitalize when making a new paragraph or after lists?
Hi. I am new at a job. The Word 2000 running in ExtText (Dictaphone) will not capitalize at the beginning of a new paragraph (never had that happen before), nor after numbers in an automatic list, and sometimes even just after plain periods, not just periods used in numbers (like hemoglobin 7.5).
What is going on? It works fine in the Word version on my computer, but when it ties with ExtText, it "forgets" to capitalize. It is especially annoying with lists, and also at the first of paragraphs, I never had to babysit that before.
Any help? TX

I did 3 jobs for a while about 3 years ago, you burn out quick, I was doing 3 MT jobs though...after
10 months I cut down to 2 as I don't like to have all my eggs in one basket. But I am considering going down to 1 in September for my sanity, its a good steady job so financally it should not be an issue. I have 2 right but have not worked the 1 in about 3 weeks due to some problems at their end, supposed to learn a VA account but not sure if I want to pursue it right now or not, they are waiting to hear from me at this point. I still have a lot going on with chemo, etc. so am mulling things over. But if you have a full-time day job, then I would just go with 1 part-time MT job at night, unless 1 is during the week, and the other weekends only, then of course you will be working 7 days a week, very tiring I know. I have been working 7 days a week for 3 years now but I do slack off now and then of course to recharge and get sleep etc. But burnout happens fast and I doubt you want to lose your day job so be careful. Good luck.
Lowest runs $900 week, highest $1400 week (sm)
Get paid 12 CPL. Been doing transcription for about 12 years.
Two jobs very common, 3 jobs not unheard of.

Blasted cold out today. It was 104 degrees last week, but it's 40 degrees today with rain.
However, I do like cozy days like today when I don't have to go anywhere. I'm done working, the house is clean, there's chili on the stove for dinner already, and I'm just putzing around. I think I'll go bake some jalapeno cheese bread to go with the chili.
Yup! Not only short jobs, but also jobs from
extremely difficult dictators, bad sound files, jobs that need lots of ADT info added, and anything else that is not "easy" to do. I also questioned them about this and was told the same - they do not allow cherrypicking. Definitely not true!
I am going to see it today!!

Usually twice a day for about 10-15 min BUT today I seem
to have been here more. I'm getting behind though and going to cut outta here until I'm done for the day! LOL
Just a lot of information to pass along to some who really seem to want to know.
WE HAD 73 TODAY!
I don't think I'd make it down south. We had high 90s with humidity for 16 days straight and that was bad enough. Glad it is cool again.
Don't buy gas today
e-mail because of the high prices and this a national boycott. Wondering if anyone else received or heard this.
