I'm pretty sure they told us it would not work with Word 2003 at all. NM

I'm thrilled! Just got my letter from AAMT saying
saying that my CMT has expired. I'm free! I'm free! I cannot tell you how many hundreds of dollars I've spent on a magazine that I don't even read. Your company may pay you a pittance more, but balance that against all the checks you will write. Also think about how you will be openly supporting an organization that has sold out. Now THAT should give you something to think about.
Sign me,
AAMT-less and putting more $$ in my pocket as a result.
I type the letter "l" in IT and the word cholelithiasis is my word selected? Why?
I want to get rid of this. Entered left again but it is still giving me cholelithiasis as the only word option to select from.
This is why I find this program crazy. Everytime I sit down for the day, there is a whole new experience with it!!! I have to stop and think before each word!!!
didn't you ask this last week? We told you, AAMT is now AHDI. sm
It's the SAME organization, but they changed their name over a year ago, hence the change in website. Look up the AHDI website.
production is a 4-letter word
When we got a new system, it would give you a break down of lines per hour and total at the end of the day. Well, of course after 30 days of monitoring, the sup had IT delete that part of the system because "it intimidated" the other two lazy boobs in the the office. The part-timers loved it because they did in four hours what the boobs did with a million mistakes in 8 hours. They also protested going home to type when that was brought up as an option when the docs adamantly supported VR. They openly critized the work and I opened critized not wanting to be lumped in the pile. Well now the sup has been fired. The boobs are file clerks who have to rotated 7 days a week. They edit a little bit. Days must be slow and miserable. New sup is in the office with them and answers the phones. He, He, He.....
Diet doesn't have to be a four letter word.
You can jazz up everything you mentioned. Put a dash of cinnamon or nutmeg into your applesauce, put some spices on the hamburger like garlic, onion powder, or Emeril Zest, and even a dash of Tabasco or some other spices in your tomato juice. I like to throw a piece of celery, a colossal green olive, and a few pepperoncini into mine. Some people aren't into hot and spicy, but spices are zero to low calories. Hot and spicy is very good for you with vitamins, antioxidants, etc. Studies have proven that people who eat hot peppers with their meals consume 150 fewer calories per meal. Eating naturally (AKA dieting) doesn't have to be bland.
Word will not correct two letters in caps. You must type a third letter for
that feature to kick in. You need to practice letting up on the Shift key sooner or you need a macro to go through your document to fix all of those instances.
Word 2000 and later does not cap after colons or numbers followed by punctuation even if you have that option turned on in Tools. You can use the change case command of Shift + F3 immediately after typing the first word to get a cap. I use Instant Text and there's a feature in that program that automatically fixes the cap issue in Word. Otherwise, you need a macro to go through the document and change that as well.
MS word is all I have been told
Typing to type letter or working in my platform I am having to minimize with each report as the page is huge. I have no idea where to find MS word.
An MQ recruiter told me yesterday if work is low they "cut off" the work
SEs are doing it. She also told me that it is written in MQ policies
that MQ can let go EMPLOYEES without notice (I'm not saying statutory employees here, I'm saying employees).
The state told us that MTs are employees because we they work in our system and do the same work as
maybe you can work for a company in another state.
p.s. I was told my MQ prog used WORD and I keep thinking it should be in my
Any ideas there?
Was told working directly in MS Word...sm
when I asked what the platform was, that's what she said.
Now I see why I have to have unlimited long distance, and a second phone line!
I was told if it is in quotes transcribe it even if curse word...
The doctor wouldn't have said it if he didn't want it in his report. If it wasn't in quotes now no I wouldn't have put it in. But since he was quoting yes I would.
The AAMT sure does not work for MTs.
They represent employers, not MTs. If they represented MTs, they would read these boards and work on issues that are discussed here. Or they could do some research into lawsuits that resulted from sloppy overseas work and then do a big publicity campaign with the medical profession to make them realize that they are playing with dynamite. I have never seen an MT say she wanted to see an apprenticeship program. Maybe that's because MTs are not stupid and they don't want to see 3 cpl become the norm.
Did you read the latest Plexus? I got hold of a copy. The AAMT is trying to sell the line that if you don't belong to the AAMT, you are not professional. This comes from the group that broke a contract with its student members by pulling a magazine that was paid for in the membership contract. That's professional? I wonder what they would have to say if Stedman's took money from MTs for a package deal but decided after the money was deposited to remove an item from the deal without any refund. Same principle.
AAMT. Association for Axeing Medical Transcriptionists.
The AAMT does not work for MTSO's...sm
The AAMT works for itself, for the few people who make money off of its training material and certifications, etc. and the people who glom on to it that sell MT equipment. They don't work for the MT's and they SURE DON'T work for the MTSO's!
told me it would not work well
It could possibly work, but I was told by the secure FTP site that if the Olympus software was not a newer version that the doctors would then have to go to the secure FTP site and download the files manually, which would be very inconvenient for the docs. I checked and their Olympus software does not support an automatic download of the files to the docs, from what I can remember.
I work for MQ and was told 1 space...NM

If it's a business letter you use a colon. if it's a personal letter you use a comma. nm
:
They told me speedtype wouldn't work either
but it does - you just have to have it open while you are working - it does not integrate into DQS - just sits there and lets you stuff it with expansions..;)
During my initial interview I told them I work on
Extext and she said that was what they used and didn't tell me any different when she said they wanted me to do this hospital so if it's not Extext I'm going to tell them I want something else. That is one of the main reasons I picked this company - the same program I'm already used to. I'll ask them about that. Thanks for the info.
I was always told that Editscript will not work with dialup.
I have worked on this platform for over four years and for a few different companies and not one of them every told me that dialup would work. Did you tell your employer that you had dialup?
Sorry, I got cut off and didn't realize it. I was told it was more of a way to get the work back
I was told it was more of a way to get the work back and forth. Does it actually affect the line counts?
All groomers I have used, do it. The veterinarian I used to work for told people the groomer

Curiously I was told by Sylvan Software this a.m. that IT WILL work with Chartscipt - sm
The only thing is I could not get them to specific it would work with Chartscript.net. They would only say Chartscript, claiming they were told by the developer it would work. I get very frustrated with these companies selling products they know nothing about.
I was told that Healthscribe outsourced and when acquired, that Spheris would be bringing work
And this is information came to me from the inside, given to me when I was hired and in training.
Easy to work with. You can look up old reports. Your own word expander will work
s
FYI Blew motherboard. Need new puter. Was told not to get Vista as not compatible with work program

What word expanders work best with MS word? Or..
.. is there another way? Do many use the "autocorrect" to make your own word Expander without having to purchase anything? Does that workout well or is it best to buy expander software?
I'm setting things up to start again after a couple years out of hte business. My Spellex spellchecker expired and I had to purchase a new spellchecker. Also wanting to get my expander going. GAH! It's a bit spendy to get things going again... not fun.
I was told I needed 2 phone lines, but was told I was dialing into the doctors' system. What woul

Don't expect communication from anyone, we are only little "peons."
Work = word

does this only work with Word?
I type on DocQScribe, which has an Expander but I'm just wondering if something like this would be better.
Can you work in word also
Can you work in word so that they can directly download it and then make the corrections. I have one doc that always changes his letters and so I just email them over and he changes and has his girl do them. Again, I thought I bent over to help out my accounts but there is no way even I would do this. Good luck, they are taking advantage of you BIG time.
You would work in Word of WP5.1, whichever
you prefer. Pay per gross line. Work is staying caught up so not sure they are hiring, but you can apply on-line.
Does PRD work with MS Word? I thought it was for WP 5.1 DOS only? - sm
Or am I getting confused? I have PRD for 5.1; but now use Smartype for WP 5.1 DOS (like it a lot better)....yes it also works on XP but it took me me a LONG time to figure it out. I have passed the "how to" manual onto a lot of people over the last 2 years. Its actually quite simple once you know how. An inexpensive word Expander is Shortcut, and they have the one they sell here Flashtype that is inexpensive as well. I know Shortcut works fine with 98.
I work in EXText with one and just Word with the other. SM
The EXText job is a employee status job I took for benefits. I work as a remote MT for a 235-bed community hospital. I would say I do the same 20 docs or so on a weekly basis. The other account is a dermatology account that is my own and I do three docs there.
I should add that with the hospital I have a great boss who basically lets us expand everything. Same with my derm account. They really don't care, just as long as the works on time and the notes and letters are basically what they said. No exactly verbatim, but close.
The wife cannot work in Word LOL sm
The wife knows WP but not Word. They have a Mac at home which cannot convert the WP file to Word or that is her excuse why I have to do the conversion for them. This whole business stinks and its just time to move on and not deal with any of this, Im tired of always feeling like a monster and having my heart beat in my throat because I never know what I did wrong this time or how I will be treated when I get in the office.
Make Word 03 and 07 work together!
First of all, I appologize for the LONG message, but well worth reading if you use Word. I asked this question on the Microsoft Discussion Board on 11/7/08. Here are the posts:

If it works for you, feel free to share with your colleagues. If double clicking a doc or dot file opens Word 2003 and not 2007 it should work with the company software - depending on how the company software calls Word.

My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org <>>< ><<> ><<> <>>< ><<> <>>< <>><<>
I hope this will help everyone! I know it helped me. I love typing in Word2007, but for now, I will have to type in Word 2003 until my company's software is compatible with it. At least I can have both programs running at the same time! The info on his web page about creating a toolbar is not necessary, unless it is something you need to do for Word 2007.
They'll do the work by posting every other word
because medical transcription is so danged "easy" to do! We just type what we hear (who cares about the danged PATIENT?).
Go into settings and emualte your WP to work as WORD with (sm)
the different settings and options.
PRD is a dos-based program, will not work in Word.
It is a great program, wish it would, but you might have to look at something like Shorthand. Same with Stedman's. It is a Windows installation, not a copy/paste like the old dos programs (WP, etc.)
I work for a place that pays per word (sm)
and to figure it you just get the total word count (using the word count feature in Word). You would have to find out if the 1000 words is based on "a word is a word," or if there's some "formula" such as suggested in another reply, like every 5 characters counts as a word and does that include spaces in that count, blah, blah, blah. I don't know. If it's just straight up $5.00 per actual 1000 words, then I don't think that's good at all. I make .0085 per word, and I've figured out that it would be an average of 8.5 to 9.5 cents per line. Anyway, if "a word is a word" at least, $5.00 per 1000 words would probably equal around 5-6 cents per line or so.
I do insurance work as well. It came by word of mouth.
.
I'd work in Word and cut and paste into their system. SM
Ask them if you can type it in Microsoft Word and then cut and paste (copy the Word document and paste it into their system).
It is not feasible to work without a spell checker. Word has a pretty good spell and grammar checker and there is no reason to do without it.
See if their "tech" department can come up with a macro to copy the text of the Word document and paste it into their program. Or, you could create a Word macro and paste it into their system. Either way. There is an excellent Macro recording program called Macro ToolWorks which is free for 30 days and then $40.00 that can duplicate key strokes and mouse movements, and could copy the document, go to their program and paste it in. They you'd just hit one button, like the Ctrl button plus a number. Their tech department should only take one or two days to come up with some solution.
Good luck. I just would not work without Word spell checker and also Steadman Medical Spell Checker. Essentials to any production typing job. Good luck !
Two versions of Word on the same computer will only work
correctly if the oldest version is installed *first*.
