AAMT ADHI orwhatever they're calling themselves this year...

AAMT ADHI (or whatever they're calling themselves this year) is a conglomerate out to make money ~ like any other business. They lost sight of the basis for their existence long ago. I was a paid member (as were many MTs) until I realized what a waste of my hard-earned money it was. Ultimately, instead of helping the MT they just want to make a sale.

ADHI, former AAMT......
Exactly, EVERY year ADHI makes its own grammar rules, which are wrong, BTW, to get money, confusing the MTs and QAs, causing a lot of arguments and slowing us down.
If we follow the ADHI's rules, we are going to lose our correct grammar knowledge.
I failed to rejoin AAMT aka ADHI four years ago.
Anal retentive MTs are a nightmare. A new group should be comprised of the MTs who have a SENSE OF HUMOR and a SENSE OF THE RIDICULOUS.
Oh, okay. So if we're really calling things for what they are....
you must be in luck today! I don't use the language it takes to call you what you are! We CAN beat around the bush though -- thy Queen of the Canine Females. ROFL
If you're calling me an idiot, you must be one of the ones I'm talking about.

I agree except you're the pot calling the kettle black.....
"I wonder what you're work looks like"............It is your work, not you're as that is short for you are. If you use the contraction, that means you are saying "I wonder what you are work looks like.
If you're on dial-up, don't forget a calling card

MTs generally don't give a RIP about AAMT? I doubt seriously that this will entice MTs anymore than if they just left that ridiculous blurb out. I, frankly, think AAMT is an embarassment to the MT industry. Sharon (Ace) Ventura
Heh ... twice the price cuz they're an AAMT business partner! - nm
Well that is real mature, calling me a rimrod. Why the name calling?
I am not telling everyone to leave this site. I gave info about MTSTars.net to let us, who have been on this site MTStars.com for many years to make up their own minds. YESTERDAY, I never got a straight answer about the owner of this board and now I know, but I was in the middle of asking questions earlier and my posts kept getting deleted. I was not calling anyone names, like YOU have and I am not insuling anyone like YOU have. NOT offshoring? Well he is from Pakistan am I right? I still do not know the truth. Can you supply me with more information about Dr. Ahmed?
You're behaving like a pouting 4-year-old
Somebody is doing something you can't so you want to stir up crap? And, had you bothered to read what you posted, they're actually okay with working offsite if you take appropriate security risks...they specifically mention logging out before leaving the computer unattended. But mommy is still very proud of her little playa-hayta.
Wow, these ADHI folks are
really not representing the American Transcriptionist at all. I'm really just speechless. I wonder why they're making such unprofessional attacks on the US transcriptionists.
The representative who wrote the response is either uninformed or downright deceitful in stating that the Indian transcriptionists want the CMT credentials just to have them. On the contrary, their employers are using it as a tool to get their feet in the door to get American work.
I'm just curious as to how many of Indian CMTs have been grandfathered in (not required to take any testing because of years of experience) because most of the companies who do work with them have to have US transcriptionists do a lot of heavy editing. If this is the case, then the CMT credential is as worthless as it was 30 years ago. Sad for our industry, really.
I wish some retirees would start up another professional organization for US transcriptionists only <hint hint>
Why support ADHI or whatever they
are called with more money. They do nothing for the US MTs.
Topaz is right, dump ADHI - see msg
ADHI is the new name for the AAMT after it was run into the ground. Practices are the same. This organization is suffering and needs members and money. They do not care about the American MT and will sell you out in a second with one hand while taking your money with the other.
Uggh...ADHI are so condescending and
arrogant. Read this first Q&A between a Transcriptionist and ADHI staffer.
It's time for us to find better representation for ourselves. ADHI has become a big business, and its only goal is to keep itself afloat, even if that means throwing the American transcriptionists overboard. I'm joining the ATA....today.
We're in CA and have a lot of year-round schools. I like it better than the traditional schedule.
x
Well, ya can't make $50k a year unless you're willing to give up your life and be chained to S
you PC 12+ hours a day. I can't recommend any particular school as I didn't go to one of the "online" schools. I learned in an actual classroom which I recommend over any of these online schools. Another thing I recommend is working in an office for at least six months, but more like a year, because there is a gigantic learning curve once you actually get a job. There are just things that schools can't or don't teach, things that can only be learned on the job from other MTs who have been doing it longer than you.
Don't get me wrong. It's great to be able to work from home. Personally, I don't think newbies should be allowed to work at home right out of the gait. There is some much they don't know. They need help. They need to be able to ask questions and one of the best things about working in the office as a newbie, is being able to ask the seasoned MT next to you to listen to something for you.
Having said all that, I think MT is slowly dying. It's become difficult to make a decent living in this profession. I'm one of the few lucky ones. I work at-home for a hospital. I get paid hourly, get incentive, and have all the benefits of being a FT employee. Oh, and they can't take my benefits away if I don't make my quota.
You can't support a family on 7 or 8 cpl or even 9 cpl when the dictation is the crap they won't send to India. I would suggest finding another profession. The trend in medical coding is that all coders will be working from home soon what with everyone going to the Electronic Medical Record. I would go into coding. You may end up working in the office for a while, but I don't see coding being outsourced to India any time soon.
Good Luck.
If ADHI gave a rat's @$$ about 'medical record
If their 'cash cow' (India) ever starts to wise up and run dry, like America is doing now, they'll be out of the MT-biz unless they can find another 3rd world workforce to take advantage of.
The ADHI is a SCAM organization. Don't give them
your hard-earned money, ESPECIALLY when the 'renewal' apears to be premature. $100 is far too much to spend for this worthless 'credential'.
It's what you can do ON THE JOB that matters in the end, not 3 letters after your name.
This group's sole purpose for existing (besides a few key execs striking it rich) has been to close down what used to be a good American white-collar, middle-class job, and send it all to India. And you just KNOW they're getting their palms greased by India to make this happen.
Ask them this: If they're set getting everyone 'certified', then shouldn't what you pay for that so-called 'certification' be in direct proportion to what it does for you? Or where most of the work is going these days? The Indians get a discounted rate for their CMT's and RMT's. If you're determined to continue your certification, tell them you want the same deal they're getting in India (and Philippines).
Mine are in year-round thank goodness! They've started their new year 2 months ago.

Union diesil mechanic - good pay, great benefits. We swap year to year on who brings home more sm
money.....but I am an IC and he has all the benefits...health insurance/dental that the company pays for, pension plan, 401k, etc. Factor all of that in and he makes way more than I do.
to cowgirl - Last I knew, last year the job paid $25,000/year no taxes, etc.
The hospital was bombed about a year ago, but not a lot of damage, very minimal damage.

After I went to a 1-year MT course at a vocational school, it was so bad that I did the 2-year colle
Not only did I finally receive the proper training, but the woman on the advisory board hired and mentored me. I also joined the local AAMT and networked. Good luck. I know how frustrating it can be. A community college will have a good program to include medical language, MT courses taught by local MTSOs, business English, anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, etc.
But YOU are the one doing all the name calling
She simply asked you to knock it off....as so many of us would like to echo. Get over yourself and quit knocking everyone who posts on the board. There are some of us who would like to be informed and knowledgeable about our sister MTs and our industry as a whole. If you are not one of them, don't waste your time or our time by coming to this board at all, okay? Your whining is annoying

Name calling
Name Calling or Substitutions of Names or Moral Labels:
This technique attempts to arouse prejudices in an audience by labeling the object of the propaganda campaign as something the target audience fears, hates, loathes, or finds undesirable.
Dangers inherent in name calling: In its extreme form, name calling may indicate that the propagandist has lost his sense of proportion or IS UNABLE TO CONDUCT A POSITIVE CAMPAIGN INTELLIGENTLY.
Before using this technique, the propagandist must weigh the benefits against the possible harmful results.
Have you tried calling?
I know when I had A problem they were able to answer my questions. Have you tried calling them? :)
If he keeps calling you, tell him
him for harassment. I'm pretty sure he would not have handed the title over like that without his money. If she owed him money, where is his proof? receipts showing balance due? Please do not hand over money to someone who may well be a heartless opportunist.
I'm very sorry for your loss. Be well.
calling you?
they say that girls in the trailer park go round the outside, round the outside. I wouldn't be bragging about servicing the neighborhood's husbands.
No need for name-calling here.
The tone of this chain is not malicious nor judgemental. Please don't come on here carelessly calling people names. This woman had a life or death situation on her hands and handled it the best way she could. She came here to help another human being in trouble by giving her valuable first-hand information. In other threads, this malicious tone may be okay, but not here, okay? Please just stay away if you can't bear the comments, okay? These people are hurt enough already. Thank you.
OK without the name calling....sorry
So do you think a nationalized health plan is a good thing for this country?
No name-calling, please. NM
NM
What does name calling accomplish. It seems like you and another
poster calling a person names is no better than the cherry picker.
Why the name calling? You are sad. The comment sm
was made because he was for spheris and the outsouring they do, and yes they don't advertise jobs here because they outsoure. You are the one that needs to do some soul seardhing and grow up.
I don't think ANY of the name-calling or slurs is okay.
It seems like as soon as someone posts something against the "prevailing opinion," it's okay to call names and make all kinds of nasty remarks about them personally. Not just in this topic, but in many others. There seems to be an attitude of "they said something bad first, so it's okay to say the most hateful and hurtful thing I can think of."
I disagree with your post above, but I certainly wouldn't call you a name or imply that you are deficient, lacking, or stupid in some way for having that opinion.
I don't personally think the "single mother" is relevant to the topic at all. It's a bad thing to have happened REGARDLESS of the person's age, marital status, or number of children, but I also don't think it's EXTRA bad because she's a single mother - and I don't think that's how she meant it.
? about "cold calling."
For those of you who have acquired accts through cold calling, what do you suggesting saying? I did get one account this way, but cant remember how I managed. Any tips appreciated!
Thanks,
Florida girl!
who's whining here besides you. i'm calling
re: Susie-LD Calling
This is true--we were all told to switch to a LD carrier by our transcription company to use for dictation and many of us were contacted by the phone company withing 4 to 5 months of doing this and told that we could not use it for business purposes. They actually called the numbers and knew that we were calling various places for dictation so some of use were switched back to using the 800 numbers
You are calling me perverted
when you come on this board with all of this stupid, juvenile crap. You really need to grow up.
Who are you calling stupid?
Well, if they are soooo stupid, explain how they are the largest transcription company in the US?
Perhaps you know something about the packet that we don't, because in case you didn't know this - NO ONE GOT THEIR PACKET YET! DUH - Talk about stupid - look in the mirror.
How do YOU know so much, huh?
PS - While looking in the mirror, go brush those yellow-stained teeth, comb that nasty wirey, brillo-pad hair, squeeze some of this nasty whiteheads, and get a face lift - because ain't no one want someone like you working for them!
I agree with you about calling 911. sm
Have it checked out.
Here's what fortunately happened to my stubborn sister.
She just happened to luck out because she was in a room full of people at a big birthday bash for a friend. She didn't feel good, a bit of a nagging headache, but thought it was no big deal until her head started to ache so bad that she dropped into a chair. She was about 5 blocks from the hospital at the time and someone called rescue. She had a brain aneurysm rupture, but she made it. After a month in the hospital she is "normal" with only a slight problem with short term memory.
The "moral" of this story is that if my stubborn sister had been home by herself, thinking, "maybe something is wrong" she would have taken an aspirin and went to lie down.
Don't mess with chest pain. Better to find out that you've pulled a muscle or something.
"I am trying to tell him he needs to go to the ER." This is a quote from OP who is now calling
:+
is calling, and then my phone co....sm
My phone company went and put voicemail on my line when I got DSL (didn't ask for voicemail) so now I use that voicemail as my secretary. I can first *see* who is calling on caller ID and then NOT take the call, and they get thrown into voicemail. After working hours, I call them back. If it is an emergency, I CAN take the call. It has helped me tremendously. If they leave no message, they never get a call back. *LOL* (No message left on voicemail to me merely equates to *not important*!!)
I know its hard! I have one calling me and
another poster names. Well, actually calling me the name I call myself! ha! But I think the insult is supposed to be that no one else will hire me!! Isn't that just so illogical? Its unreal. I know its hard - sometimes one is afraid that these ignoramus types will think if they get the last word its cause they sure made their point! But we all have to realize that its just not to feed them - don't feed the trolls! Don't feed the trolls...
Have you tried calling the pound?
Wonder what they'd do with the goat?
I was visiting my MIL this week, and there were three beagles running around her yard. They kept coming up on her porch, so I led them out to the road. They followed me quite happily. Then somebody drove up in a truck and just observed us. I wandered over to ask if he was missing any beagles, and he was the dog catcher! He had been called about FOUR beagles. I just told him they weren't mine, but they sure were friendly! He asked if they'd come to me when called, and I said SURE! But then I left him to call the dogs himself, LOL. I can't help it if dogs don't like him. :oD
calling card
I used mine when I was out of town, and my minutes started as soon as I was connected to the dictation system. I diconnected in between reports when I proofread. It was cumbersome to do that, but saved some of my minutes.
Calling all ICs and subcontractors
I'm thinking of switching to an IC. Tell me the absolute best thing about being an IC/subcontractor and the absolute worst thing.
Thanks.
Calling Delaware MTs...
There are two of us here in Delaware so far that would like to get together and have lunch. We are planning on meeting at the Ruby Tuesdays in Middletown (Rt. 299) at 12 noon on Tuesday, April 3rd. We would love to have others come and have a nice day out.
