I'm a Transcriptionist but have also been a Radiologic Technologist for 22 years. The meniscus is like a cushion that is between the bones of the knee and helps to cushion the bones. Sometimes they tear or erode due to injury and/or age. If you continue to have problems with your knee, they will sometimes do arthroscopy (tiny camera into the joint space) to get a better look at the joint space. Best of luck.
