How can you say, "a single mom to me means nothing more than 1 person working." Have you totally overlooked the fact that God knows how many children are involved???
A full-time college student who commutes between work and school is 1 person working.
You make it sound like there is nothing significant about a single mother who is never home and has children that are left unattended to fend for themselves. Do you not realize that this setting is not a healthy environment for a child or the mother??
No offense to the single moms out there working their tails off to raise their children without the help of the father. I don't believe any mother who is worthy of being called mother, would choose to put herself and children in this situation. Unfortunately, there are times when it just cannot be avoided.
To the poster, I don't even know what to say. How you could say such things in such a matter-of-fact tone,actually proves my point without me having to say another word.

well, I have had to go that route once, do not wish to do it again. Although they fix the problem, nothing else comes out of it for you excpet, find a new job (ir a good lawyer which just adds bills to be income.)
I guess I am just tired.
Payday and errors
Why is it then when a paycheck is due, all of a sudden you get calls about missing commas, filenaming structure, and then you are told your check will be late. I understand if errors are made that change the tone of the document, but filenaming - especially when you get no instructions because it is a new account to the company. I actually got samples with letterhead - I process the work, and then they call me to say deduct amount for letterhead because it should not have been used.
And if I hear one more time about commas I will scream.
Anyone hear about the legal report with one less comma costing millions because instead of it being - the brother Charles, sister Maria, and brother Maxwell sharng in a settlement - it was transcribed as -brother Charles, sister Maria and brother Maxwell - keeping the meaning of a settlement divided two ways instead of three.
I thought when I left my inhouse job, I might get a paycheck on time. After waiting 5 weeks for the first one, I now wait 4 weeks on average for every one following. yea I know I can stop and go to another place, but gosh darn it if it wouldn't be fair to pay us on time. God forbid we missed a TAT.

In every company I have worked for that pays via mail, they mail the checks on payday. sm
Depending on the distance you can get them anywhere from 3-8 days later. Right now one takes 3 days, the other 3-5.
HELP with Shorthand. Suddenly today when I tried to start work today.sm
my ShortHand would type only the first letter of an expansion and then take all the letters away! I checked and the Type It button is grayed out! I went through heck with BellSouth when they charged me a surcharge of an extra 50 a month and then would write a letter saying I had to switch to a long distance service and pay by the minute because of my "excessive" use. They told me the unlimited charge was for an average of an hour a day not somebody who worked out of their home and I needed to switch a business plan at over 200 a month charge. I switched over to cable because of that and then to read that cable was going to charging on a per use fee and not a flat monthly fee it upset me. It is the nature of our work, VR, only paying for VBC, having headers and footers taken away, now being charged for being on line, etc. It just seems that everything is done to keep to insure less money.

I finally divorced my husband of 27 years, he started drinking heavy and became a monster, after the last 5 starting with emotional abuse, refusing intervention (even his family would not talk to him), it took one night and one night only when he got physical and I got my child and myself out and never look back.
It's not easy to start over but once they strike, they can apologize from now to kingdom come, promise it will never happen again but it does.
Contact your local YWCA. They usually have court advocates along with domestic violence hotlines. Please talk to them and they can answer all your questions and give you the support you need.

I just want to know WHAT IS UP lately with all of the LOW, LOW, LOW cpl rate being offered on the job seeker's board?????? I thought that the cost of living always went UP, not DOWN, but the pay being offered for medical transcription is RIDICULOUS. I'm sorry, I just have to put in my 2 cents' worth. We work our fingers to the bone, some days all day long, some weeks all week long, if we work at home we are never really away from work, it's too easy to pop into the office and work a little because it's always there, and 5, 6, or 7 cpl????!!!!???? Come ON people! Offer more than that! We are WORTH it!!! We can't feed our families, pay insurance, house payments, car payments, kids' college tuition, etc., on these sorely low amounts. I mean, there are newbies out there who will gladly those offers, and I'm certainly not knocking newbies, I was once one myself, but most all of the job offers I've looked at lately aren't offering to pay anymore tha 5, 6, or 7 cpl, and there are more than just newbies looking at this job seeker board! Thanks for listening!!

I too have been offered the apprenticeship program at Focus and after asking several questions was told that I would move to editing after I passed the program. I'm worried because of the things I've read about them withholding your paycheck if you have any errors in your reports -- do you know how often this occurs? And how often do they pay you? I am concerned because we will be paying for daycare up front and if I for any reason have an error that makes them keep my whole paycheck (and subsequently makes me unable to pay for daycare), I am going to kill somebody

I don't know either one of them so I really have no opinion one way or the other. Unless you are privy to everything that happened or you know them personally, I can't understand why people are so up in arms about any of this.

As a rule, when the pay date is on Sunday I usually have my deposit in the account on Saturday a.m. The last pay date I think fell on a Saturday and that was deposited on Friday a.m.
They don't do direct deposit for IC's.

I'm an IC for 2 companies that don't provide direct deposit and I just found that waiting on snail mail to bring my check was too undependable. I now have my checks sent overnight. Sure I have to pay for the charge of it but it is worth knowing when my money will be here. Most companies will do this if you ask them to and they just deduct it from your pay. I don't know your situation but I am able to use this expense on my taxes each year, so I definite feel that it is worth it.

I also have direct deposit. I get paid every other Thursday, and by Thursday morning my check is in my account. That's just my experience. Maybe you should call the company and see if there's a problem. Has it ever been late before?
If you get direct deposit set up
(if your company offers it), then you won't have to wait for snail mail. But no company is going to predict what day your check is going to hit your mailbox. Pay day is the day checks are cut and sent out.

I have never done this kind of work before and signed up to work with a lady from qmedet solutions. She wants my bank account number to direct deposit my check. I am leary of doing this because she didn't check references or want to see a resume. We emailed back and forth, she called me to explain the job and then requested my personal information. Is this the way everyone works?

I have never done this before and wanted to know if this sounds legit. I placed my job information on a site for MTs. I received an email from a lady who works for qmedet solutions saying that she wanted to hire me. We emailed back and forth about whether I was interested and then she called me to discuss the job. She then emailed me forms to fill out my personal information including my bank account number for direct deposit. I just want to make sure that this is normal because she didn't get any personal references from me nor did she request any kind of resume.

As far as the social situation is concerned, get
him in cub scouts, community sports, etc. This is really not an educational issue IMO and not the responsibility of the school system.
The school system in most cases will try to do as little as possible for your child, but if you have a diagnosis, you can write an IEP and they have a legal obligation to follow it, whether they like it or not. They also have to provide testing, like it or not, but we always had ours done on our own as I didn't feel like I would get an honest evaluation from the school system.

can send you a brand new computer at no charge or at a small rental fee per month. Otherwise for them to access your computer without your permission is considered hacking. It sounds as if the MTSO or tech person is paranoid or nosy and trying to bully you into something they have no legal right to do. My response would be to write NO on the form, do not sign it, and tell them what I just said here.
I'd be more concerned with the company whose tapes
and CD's you've gotten if you attempt to sell the use of them for learning purposes. I think there'd be some copyright issue there since you'd be making money with their product that is intended for personal use (maybe, I'm not really sure how that'd work). I think they'd have a bigger issue with you than the local colleges.

I understand why you're concerned. Its not
so much that you need to mind your own business in that you don't want to end up losing the account because some other dimwit MT is not following the rules. I don't know what I'd do either, but don't blame yourself and think its none of your business. It 100% is your business. Again, I have worked as an IC and lost accounts because of other MTs who just won't follow directions....so I wouldn't want to see that happen to you either. Sorry for your situation.

Yup. It's required reading, as far as I'm concerned.
I see WAY too many MTs just sort of doing their own thing (usually incorrectly). Several places I've worked at require using the BOS as your guideline. I know I would if I owned my own service or were the manager of an MT department. It gives us all one common language, one standard.

Shouldn't the doctors be concerned?
Maybe put me on something other than indomethacin? I have spent so much time trying to research this, and either I am not looking up the right things, or there simply is not much information out there. I am very confused and kind of scared about ruining my kidneys while the doctors blow it off.

correct! Is paid on the 10th and 25th, if those dys fall on a Sat/Sun, then your check does not go in until the following Monday...how it is & how it's always been.
As other's advised, check the 2005 payroll schedule, maybe print it out for your referrences?
