$22.00 plus tip, takes 1/2 hour nm
s
I make $43.50/hour and my doc knows that it takes me - sm
three hours to do his tape from transcribing to printing.
If I even went to him and said "I want to charge for the copies," you can bet he would be looking for a new transcriptionist. He has had plenty of offers from other transcriptionists to do his work at a lower rate, but he likes my work, and I will not jeopardize that whatsoever.
My ink costs me $32/month, which is an expense write off.
Doesn't a test that takes over an hour and a half seem excessive?
Not every one can live off $11.50 an hour
I am not one here that complains about my wage as I do very well with MT, but I would be looking for a new job if I was only making $11.50 an hour. Consider yourself lucky that you have what you have making that wage. There is no way I could do it. We pay over $1100 a month for a 600 sq. ft. 1-bedroom condo for 3 of us. We pay another $250 a month for electricity. Once you factor in the higher cost of food and gas that we have to pay because everything has to be shipped 3,000 miles, there is no way I could live off $11.50. We only have 1 car and rarely go out to eat or spend money on extravagances. I recently had to buy clothes because I was still wearing my maternity clothes from 2 years ago that had too many holes in them. So we are not splurging. The only people in my area of the country that live off $11.50 an hour are working 2-3 jobs to survive. So just because you can live in your area of the country on what you make, don't judge others say we need to reevaluate our lifestyles. I don't think it is a bad thing to just want to get paid a decent wage for our job. For what its worth, Wal-Mart here pays their door greets more than you are making as an MT. Does that seem right?
No way, in New York or CA you can't live on $11.50 an hour.
I understand your message and get what you are saying; however, it is literally impossible to live on $11.50 an hour in those two states, and probably a few others. You can't even get a 1 bedroom studio apartment for less than $1500 a month, not including utilities, then food, clothing, and other bills. Sorry, can't do it.
I think I misstated it - the at home people live within an hour of the hospital - sm
this is what the hospital is absolutely positively trying to avoid - having people all over the country doing the job. If the equipment breaks, if there are meetings, etc. - these cannot be done with transcriptionists all of the country.
You must live in a metro area because rural areas pay even less per hour.
Of course you can buy a big house for 130,000 in a smaller town and the same amount won't buy you a pot to pee in, in a place like San Diego or the D.C. area. It's all relative.
Depends on the pay and account. My lowest average is $15.52 an hour (roughly 182.6 lines an hour) w

why no, i don't live in snobville. did you think you knew me? i live in heritage hills a suburb
it takes a little longer to get to work and shopping but thank god i have some privacy and am away from the congestion. lovely trees and lakes all around. maybe about 20 minutes to a large shopping mall. but no, i don't even know where snobville is.
1850 lines per 8 hour shift. 15.00 hour - no real requirement
x
if it is feasable, split that 6-hour shift into two 3-hour shifts. sm
i work a split shift and find that i am much better able to stay focused and get more work done that way. also, being 3 months pregnant you have gone through the very tiring time of pregnancy and you should start seeing an energy perk before long.

I know a director looking for MTs in central FL
She's an ex-boss who wanted me to work for them but I'm out of state. The facility requires the MTs to be in-state and wouldn't budge on that. She wants to depend on outside services/off-shoring as little as possible and hopefully not at all. Again, another I've found who is nauseated by the whole thing - do I see a hopeful trend? Cardiology background is necessary. Want me to check particulars?
Are they located in Central CA?
I think this place might be local for me.
why yes the quality of air where i live is quite different than where the city people live.
Lots of pollution. That's why everyone is moving away from the city and areas zoned for multiple housing units and low income housing and trailer parks. Population is dense and near manufacturing. So yes, the air is different but millions of people pay a little extra for the quality, the space and privacy afforded to those who move out of polluted crowded areas such as you defend. There is always a reason why some areas and housing is cheaper than others. Maybe it is the air and maybe it's something you can't quite put your finger on but you know you would prefer not to live in certain areas. You know what I mean or are you living in one of those areas? They tell after awhile you block out the sounds, the smells and get used to the pollution. I don't know. I didn't stay long enough to test the theory. My mental and physical health is way too important to me.
I know they live a long time, so if there is a chance they will out live you - sm
make sure you make provisions for them in your will. I have only had cockatiels and some finches, so don't really know anything about the bigger birds. I love African Grey's but they are very expensive.
I start an hour or 2 early and then take an hour or 2 for dinner -nm

At 200 lines a day for 6 cents, you are making $1.20 a day or 0.15 hour for an 8 hour day!!!--cm
Did you mean 2,000? Even then you would only be making $1.50 if you work 8 hours a day.
$32/hour? You said $36/hour on an earlier post. Either way would be great. n/m

I'm in East Central Indiana and
have Comcast. When we first had it, it was down all the time. It turned out to be a faulty modem, which they had supplied. Once they changed that out, they have been incredibly reliable. It is very, very rare that they are down, and if they are it is usually less than an hour.
