"I would rather be from a broken home than live in one"

Please get out of the situation you are in. You are not doing yourself or your children any favors by staying with this man who has great potential for violence. The best thing you can give your children is a healthy, happy mother. You do not deserve to live under threats all your life. Make plans and get out - you and your children will be grateful!

Do you want to live in the home?
If you want to stay there, you would probably be eligible for what the govt is offering, as stated. You need to make some phone calls. BK 13 is also an option if you want to save your home, can modify loan and make those payments. My neighbor lived in her house for over a year before they forclosed. Everyone worked with her, agent, bank so she and her young child could relocate (her husband had just been arrested for a white collar crime and left her on her own).
Don't feel alone, people like you are everywhere
Consider calling in to the Dave Ramsey Show or Suze Orman. You have some options.
Everything is dated and to the hour: As in: 1/30/2009 at 12:01 AM, the property at ___ will be auctioned. BK 13 would put a stay in place, and freeze any action which would buy you time. But future income will determine everything.
I am sorry this is happening and I know the stress as I have been there before once myself and hope it never happens again but you know, it's possible.
Late charges and finance charges and interest and penalties are what beat down people in this boat. It makes no sense to punish people who don't have enough cash as it is at this time in history.
If he has a sudden bronchospasm at home, he may not LIVE during the trip to the ER. He needs to go.

I also live in Georgia - how did they find out you work from home?
NM
I think I misstated it - the at home people live within an hour of the hospital - sm
this is what the hospital is absolutely positively trying to avoid - having people all over the country doing the job. If the equipment breaks, if there are meetings, etc. - these cannot be done with transcriptionists all of the country.
Okay home is where the heart is but if you live in trailer park next door to red neck grits
with a mullet and bleached blond hair who drink beer all day and let their kids run wild, your little trailer park heart filled home becomes a bit of a headache because of the neighbors who may not have the same ideals or morals/ethics you do and they are SO CLOSE you can't shut them out of your world. Cheap housing brings in cheap people and in trailer parks you pretty much get what you get neighbor-wise. So my heart may be in my little trailer but my neighbors are part of my homelife.
Does it still work or is it broken? sm
My sister works at a place that takes useable or fixable stuff and reconditions and sells it cheap. I think they actually pay a small amount for the stuff that comes in too, but I'm not sure. She's in Portland, Maine, and the place is called "End of Life Electronics." or something like that. Sounds like a mortuary to me, but apparently business is good.
Family broken up
Does anyone else live with this experience? After my mom and dad split up (after us kids were grown), all the siblings went their separate ways and really do not have much to do with each other. Most of them (three brothers) have taken sides, (either mom's or dad's) but we have nothing to do with each other. Is this odd or usually the norm?
Broken toes!
Wow, i have broken my 3 smallest toes on the right foot. Can you imagine, after 25 years of using the right foot, having to use the left foot until they heal? What a headache! I'm sure my line count will plummet!
Reply to Broken Down once...
I am finding out that he has been working all morning shutting things off - cancelled cell phone, car insurance, etc. That's more work than he's done in a month! I'm going to move to a town nearby my family just as soon as possible. I also have a little hand-held friend in my home to take care of him should he come back. I'm just getting prepared for his nonsense by gathering witnesses. As I stated in a more recent post, he has violated his order a couple of times today. I'm just waiting to see if the State's Atty will press charges. Not clear right now. Thanks for your concern. I'll keep you all posted.
another broken record...
me too. It absolutely befuddles me that anyone would be trying to get INTO this field, especially with all the ominous signs that are right out there for anyone to see. I think new moms with babes are just blinded by the idea of "working at home" and can't see the competition they are facing. Me, I am in nursing school... not an easy job by any means...but I'll be good at it and will find my niche quickly and will always have a job! My biggest account is making noise about getting a VR system. If I wasn't in nursing school, I would be having a panic attack instead!
Broken tape
HELP! I have had a microcassette tape break. Any ideas on how to fix it (if possible!)?
Thanks!
Broken tape. sm.
I just broke my dictation tape while rewinding it. Should I try to open it and put it back on the wheel. Any ideas. I has three days of dication on it. Thanks.
broken tapes
It is not your fault, many docs still use tapes and it has happened to me, they all do not want to change and use what works for them. Please don't be discouraged by negative comments. There are ways to splice a tape but I have forgotten what I did in the past, I think an office machine dealer did it for me. It's all part of being in the service business. Excuse any rude remarks, my heart goes out to you!
Don't know if this machine is broken or not...help?
Sorry to intrude here but someone in this crowd likely know the answer to my quandary(SP?)... I'm not a Transcriptionist but my neighbor wants me to sell these two machines he has. I learned trans back in high school (30 years ago!) but think these two machine "might" be broken. Both units are micro players (the Lanier VW-210 and Lanier P-101). Neither show the "units" or "location" in their digital displays... From my recall, the machine was supposed to tell you where in the tape you were (hence I believe the above indicators). Everything else works on the machines but if they're broken I don't think I should sell them. Any suggestions? I went looking for advice, online manuals, you name it. Whatever suggestions or advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated!
why no, i don't live in snobville. did you think you knew me? i live in heritage hills a suburb
it takes a little longer to get to work and shopping but thank god i have some privacy and am away from the congestion. lovely trees and lakes all around. maybe about 20 minutes to a large shopping mall. but no, i don't even know where snobville is.
Can't type with a broken ankle?
Can't believe I am this right sided! I have a broken ankle (right) and can't seem to coordinate my left foot on the pedal with my hands on the keyboard! I know this will pass, but it sure is wierd!!!!
Broken tape memories
One of my docs about 15 years ago broke a tape and he spent more time putting the tape back together than it would have been if he had redictated. Another time, the same doc walked in my office and handed me the tape while I was running a finished tape through the little erase box and I immediately took it out of his hand and erased it right in front of him. I almost died. He always dictated on half speed to get more on a tape. What would you have done if you did that?
MT with broken wrist-need advice
I'm a single MT IC. I broke my wrist 12/31, had surgery and now have a cast. I worked a few days, but very painful and slow. Typing with one hand now. Haven't worked for 8 days. No work. No pay. Anyone else been in this situation? Did you apply for disability?
He owns it. I got an email from him with broken
resume removed.
HIPAA laws being broken.
Since nobody seems to care about MTs losing jobs & work being offshored, and it doesn't appear that they'll start taxing or otherwise financially punishing companies for doing it any time soon, what if we instead go at this from a HIPAA law point of view. If they would start fining companies who offshore for HIPAA violations for every single patient record, that might put a stop to it. HIPAA laws don't apply overseas & can't be enforced, and in this country HIPAA is a FEDERAL LAW. I'm going to start writing letters to Senators, Representatives, and the President, and I think if we all did that, maybe someone would take notice of this privacy law being violated.... We have to do something to save our jobs, we can't just sit back and complain amongst ourselves.
same horrible beyondtxt program. Its is always broken.

My foot pedal is broken, Whats the best to buy?
Im getting a new foot pedal, I need a heavy duty one cause this last one is about to give way.
So what is a great buy? Any recommendations?
Me, too, except for those multiple toe jobs where they ALL get broken & reset! Ugh..nm

I'm a broken record but I'm riding the train too
I'll just work as a nurse AND run my MTSO until the train falls off the track.
I have a broken cassette tape - where can I get it repaired
I tried doing a search on here, because a few years ago there was a post about a place that repairs broken cassette tapes. I kind of remember it being in Florida somewhere, but I cannot find the thread. Does anyone know where I can get a cassette tape fixed??? RAdio Shack says no, they don't fix them.
Hey Admin, sorry to hear about your broken leg! Feel better soon!
Soon you'll be dancin like this!
If HIPPA laws are broken, whether overseas
or here, the US company making the contract with the overseas entity would be held liable for not adhering to HIPAA laws as they are responsible for those companies they contract with.
why yes the quality of air where i live is quite different than where the city people live.
Lots of pollution. That's why everyone is moving away from the city and areas zoned for multiple housing units and low income housing and trailer parks. Population is dense and near manufacturing. So yes, the air is different but millions of people pay a little extra for the quality, the space and privacy afforded to those who move out of polluted crowded areas such as you defend. There is always a reason why some areas and housing is cheaper than others. Maybe it is the air and maybe it's something you can't quite put your finger on but you know you would prefer not to live in certain areas. You know what I mean or are you living in one of those areas? They tell after awhile you block out the sounds, the smells and get used to the pollution. I don't know. I didn't stay long enough to test the theory. My mental and physical health is way too important to me.
I know they live a long time, so if there is a chance they will out live you - sm
make sure you make provisions for them in your will. I have only had cockatiels and some finches, so don't really know anything about the bigger birds. I love African Grey's but they are very expensive.
Probably the same broken foot pedal I had sent to me TWICE! I packed it up myself, and got it back
again in my box, unopened!! Good luck. Not a good start, which I guess you are already sensing!
Other than it really is broken a lot, you cannot make a decent line count on it.
It is a horrible disorganized program that is not user friendly like some of the other ones i have had. Sound quality has to be the worst of any company there is. Tech support is nonexistant for at least 6 hours to 6 days. Pay is horrible, especially if you get stuck on editing an account (about 4 cpl) Happy bankrupcy
RE: Other than it really is broken a lot, you cannot make a decent line count on it.
Your opinion is not shared by many who work at Transcend. I personally get all the lines I need using BeyondTXT and I think it is a great platform for transcribing or editing, and I do both, and believe me I have never gotten close to starving. Editing compensation is 60% of transcribing line rate by the way and my compensation is not 4 cpl as you so erroneously posted.
I taped my broken tapes back in the days.

I used to live in MN now I live in MS and they were both cold last night!
Will take MS cold over MN cold any day, and I don't miss the snow. I miss the Mall of America, though!
I live in PA, can I help? If they are close to where I live, I would go check them out for ya!
Where in PA is this company?
I hear that; we had tapes broken several times where silly office people had put post-it notes on th
In retrospect, it was nearly laughable.
My kids have suffered greatly from me working at home with them home. SM
I have been working at home as an MT since my two kids were born. They are now 4 and 5. In the first few years, I had no help whatsoever. Their father was a bum who didnt work or take care of them while I worked. Your children get neglected while you work basically. And babies and young children desperately need your attention while they are home with you.
My kids have so many behavioral problems right now because of their neglect. I would try to set them up with things to occupy themselves, like coloring or a movie, etc.
I finally put them in day care and things have improved, but there are still a lot of issues because of the damage that was done. They still try to seek attention by doing bad things and they dont listen to me because they are so used to me letting them get away with a lot of stuff because I was too busy typing to discipline them in their early years.
If I could do it all over again, I would definitely have put them into day care from the very beginning.
My advice would be to seek PT care for your baby. Maybe you can do some work around her schedule a little when she is home, like when she takes a nap, and then bang out a bunch of work while she is in day care.
I enjoy being alone at home, but I've got one home sick from school already.
One on one with a kid is nice, too.
This summer has been absolutely crazy. I haven't had a moment to myself for three months because all of my kids were home traipsing their friends through the house and yard. My husband switched his work schedule, too, so he's around more than usual. However, I like not having to do two loads of dishes and four loads of laundry a day. There are no toys or clutter dragged out everywhere. I can clean the house first thing in the morning, and it stays clean until everyone gets home at night.
I even got to relax with a cup of coffee and watch TV for half an hour this morning, something I liked for a change instead of cartoons or kids' movies. I signed up for an online class that I've been wanting to take. I can exercise without being interrupted. Yesterday, I went to the mall and spent all my saved up gift cards. I got some clothes, books, bath stuff, and a new coffee mug. My work gets done a lot faster, too. Call me nuts, but I've never had the luxury of being alone in the house for 14 years. It's kinda nice. I love my family with all my heart, but I love having a few hours to myself each week, too.
Except now the cat and dogs have been acting weird since the kids went back to school. They must think that I need someone or something to clean up after and correct behavior on. They're getting into everything and racing around the house behind me.
my take is that she worked inhouse, not at home, and now wants to find out how to work at home. nm

Forget "per line." Your take-home pay should be taking home SM
roughly what it was before. If it is not, is it because your current pay rate for editing (which in many companies keeps changing as the VR system is developed) is too low or is it because your talents and skills are more for speed typing than speed editing?
If the first, discuss it with higherups, and go get a new job if you don't get the response you need. My last MTSO was secretly refiguring how production was counted to pay us less. I can accept hard reality, it was the secrecy that burned. Sometimes, though, it's just that the learning curves of individual editors and that of the system aren't in sync, and you end up temporarily making less.
If the second, though, recognize it as soon as possible and change to straight transcription work, in your company or a new one, for as long as you can find it.
As for why we aren't paid more for a higher skill, that's just the way the labor supply ball bounces. Best wishes.
You must live where I live. I ran into the same sort of SM
situation when I was the president-elect of the local chapter and the VP-elect of the state chapter. I bailed out. There was no fighting it.

hospital at-home -vs- national at home
I have an interview today with a hospital...work in-house for 3 months, then go home, paid on production. I don't know as of yet what they pay production, so my question is to anyone who works for a hospital at home AND has also worked for a national at home...
Which would be the best to choose? The hospital offers great benefits, but the national I work for now also has benefits, not as good as the hospital, though. Any input would be most appreciated!
Ditto for me. Have done both outside the home and in the home. We all have
bad days, but I sure would not want to trade working at home for anything. Just being here for my kids is worth every bad day!
