4 cents a line!  You have already come to a conclusion it looks from what you have written... and it seems like I am making a fortune compared to you, however, I'm not... I have been an MT for seven years and I am an IC.  I was working for a great company at 8 cents a line until Medquist bought them out.  I was offered a job with Medquist... but the work was crap and they were NOT helpful... offered less money as well.  Now, however I make 12 cents a line and 10 cents a line, two different accounts, but no benefits.  and no one QA'ing but myself.  along with formatting, etc.  I think I deserve a raise!  I have been with one company for five years, my Turn Around Time is less than 24 hours, and I am at their beck and call all the time!  One time I got the dictation about 6 PM and 8 AM they were calling me looking for a patient!

As the people previously have stated, unless you have a bunch of normals to work with... I hope you get a raise quickly...  Good luck... I don't know what it is like to start out as a newbie... cause I always had my mom there to teach me... (i fed off her work until I learned it all) :)
