just use Magic Jack to do your work if you are worried about others. Most people have unlimited long distance anyhow so it would make no difference. I have Magic Jack and most everyone I know has unlimited LD with whoever their carrier is so it makes no difference. If they don't have unlimited, that's really not your problem. I tried to drop Vonage BTW and they offered me a free deal and after the months of free service lowered my monthly rate (they did it as a trial to consider keeping them and they would give me a lower rate).
