i truly believe if young girls know how to chart their cycles and that there was only that 3-4 day period a month that they could get pregnant, teenage pregnancy would drop. ovulation falls basically in the middle of the no period cycle, which is the time most girls would be more likely to have sex to start with thus why you hear of so many girls getting pregnant having sex only one time. face it, they are gonna do it so help teach them as a mother to chart their cycles, protect themselves, and avoid those few days.

I was on it. I didn't do ovulation sticks, but
I had a vaginal ultrasound every month and if things looked good I got an HCG injection. I was on my last month of being able to do this and got pregnant and my child is now 13. The Clomid alone did not work for me.
Also, DH had to be tested for counts and on the test he was found to have white cells. He was put on antibiotics. My doc said that it could possibly prevent conception. If you aren't ovulating yet it might not be something you need to be concerned about, but if DH hasn't already been checked it is worth checking into.
This was my second pregnancy. My first pregnancy I had no issues, but I had also been on the pill for 10 years so things were kept regulated. I didn't go back on the pill after the first pregnancy.
Good luck to you.
Oh my word! Talk about timing - I know you are glad that he is safe sm
and I am so glad for you. Praise God. I had absolutely NO idea that many were killed. Today was a no-tv day for me so I had no idea of the death toll. Count your blessings. I know you are. And yes, how tragically sad for those left behind. so senseless....I am so sad now.

I do not drink enough milk and have to dose up around that time of the month. Helps with the aches and pains.
How do I break this cycle?
I admit I have spoiled my furbabies (3 cats) with treats and now I have to pay the piper so to speak. The furries are worse than children. As I sit at my desk working during the day they come and they meow and they meow and, well you get the idea. When husband is off, they are very quiet and do not approach my work space. How in the world do I break them from this addiction to the treats they have? If I shut my door they just meow outside the door so that is no help. Any suggestions? .
the hormones from the BCPs is messing with your cycle. sm
i am a midwife so i am a "little" more informed. i would definitely ask for an u/s if your doc hasn't suggested it yet, but i would also ask for labs including TSH, free T3, T4, FSH, LH, progesterone levels. seems to me that should have already been done. definitely agree with fibroids/endometriosis ruling in or out. have you ever tried progesterone cream? not that it will straightened out your periods, but will definitely help regulate your hormones. 23 days is a very long time. i'd call her again and make sure you get your hemoglobin checked and possibly add some iron depending on your levels.
Be careful of the cycle. He is in the gift mode.
I think if you go on the net to Harbor House Orange County, Florida you will see the cycle. Please go there and read up. But do erase the history and cookies that go there. So he does not find out. I believe the cycle of abuse chart is there as well. Be careful...
Started my cycle a month before my 11th birthday.
I'm now 47 and still having regular cycles. My mom and grandmother had similar histories. Ten years old is still within the norm.
Back in the day, when I first started, feminine hygiene products were pretty limited. We had pads and belts and the old Tampax that looked like cotton lollipops on sticks. Everything was awful! I had a kit that was given to us at the 5th grade "girl talk". My mom just went and bought me more giant, thick pads. Awful things! By 6th grade, on my own, I decided to buy and use tampons, and I've done so ever since.
Sit down with your daughter and have a candid talk. It's ok to tell her that you feel uncomfortable and know that she does, too, but you'll both get through it. Years from now, she will appreciate that you helped her! (My mom was a total mess with me, and she still gets embarrassed at the mere mention of anything female.) There are a lot of products sized for younger girls, and you should show them to her and talk about them with her. She's probably young for tampons, but tell her about them, too. At some point in the future, depending on her maturity and how comfortable she is, she can try those. As I said, I used them from 6th grade on. The only time I've used pads since was right after I gave birth. I think tampons are one of the greatest inventions of all time!
Be patient. Be honest. You'll do fine.

openings for art teachers are few as it is, also it is hard to support yourself as an artist unless you are really, really good, or really, really lucky.

Not so much our moms as we just try to teach
xx
Well, that'll really teach her...
A lesson won't it now? I mean being confined to a mansion with servants, cooks, etc., and nothing to do all day but swim, tan, whatever else she does...wow, talk about injustice...amazing
For me, it comes from not having anyone to teach you your worth when you are a kid (sm)
My husband was not nice even when we are dating. I had not been taught that I deserved to be treated with respect. Now you may say I am teaching my daughter the same thing - however, I'm not. I make sure that if she or my son see my husband treat me disrespectfully that I respond, in a respectful way to him that that is an inappropriate way for him to talk to me. I am still however, stuck with making a decision over what is better for the children. Sometimes these men who are bad husbands are not such bad fathers. It's a hard decision - not as easy as typing "just leave" on a message board.
Most people teach
their children Santa is an actual entity, not the spirit of Christmas.
My mom told me there was a St. Nicholas who gave to others and that "Santa" was just a way to replicate the wonderful intention of St. Nicholas.
Most people, including myself, lead their children to believe he is a real being, and it can be very disheartening when they find out it is not true.
Any thoughts on that specifically ... anyone?
Their parents don't teach them
and also, they don't get those classes at school. I guess also I was fortunate in that my mother was a tailor and dressmaker and I used to help her with finishing clothes; buttons, etc.
It is such a disposable society today also. If it is broken, don't fix it but toss it out and buy something new. With the economy the way it is, possibly that might change.
well I figure if I don't teach them sm
they won't get it when they have to get out in the real world. If they are not going to school and want to live with you why should you pay all their bills?
BTW, what I did was put half of what they gave me away and when they left home I had a nice little nest egg to give back to them to get them started. But they didn't know I was doing that until the time came for them to move out.
In this economy it is very expensive to pay for everyones groceries, laundry soap, etc. I think its a disservice not to require something. Maybe not half or even a quarter, but something! I don't want anyone to wind up like my niece at 45 with no responsibility at all and living off her widowed mother and her fixed income while making 30 bucks an hour herself plus overtime and spending it as fast as she can. Oh yes this is also in the state with the worst economy in the nation..Michigan! But then I guess she thinks she is entitled.
where I am they teach this class in 5th grade + up...

I think it is great to teach your kids
My daughter attended a school for special needs children as a mentor when she was 3 and 4-years-old. She loved it. The special needs children really responded to my daughter and she made great friends. What joy you and your daughter brought to this man's evening last night! After all, we all just want to be accepted no matter our religion, creed, etc. Thank you for sharing that nice story, and it sounds like your daughter has a caring/sharing heart!!! Bravo to her and you for raising up such a nice person, which is much, much needed in today's society!
They teach them to say that when their real little rednecks :-) (nm)

Her mother is riding her coattails and loving the party life. Her mother is too messed up herself to teach her anything.
Trose, I don't believe in heaven, but I would teach SM
heaven to small children, until they are older and can grasp death in the reality of truth. Hmm,did that make any sense? It's late.
I teach English as a volunteer.
While there are immigrants here who do not choose to actively pursue learning the language via formal means, there are many who do. We have a waiting list of up to 12-14 months due to class space restrictions and a lack of volunteers. English is not an easy language to learn, and it takes time.
And if you open it up for her to teach them her way, then you are opening it up to all (sm)
That means people who are homophobic or racist can also teach children their point of view? There has to be a line drawn somewhere.

Not educational. This is something that should be the parents job to teach, not the school. sm
Besides, why should school children have a field trip to ANY wedding? What would people say if someone had a field trip to a church service? These are things that parents need to be able to teach their children when the time is right.
Then why did you just say it would teach tolerance? Apparently there was a goal. sm
I will teach my children love and tolerance myself. I carried them in my body and ate healthy foods, gave birth, and have taken care of them since the day they were born. I make the decisions for them. Thank God for now Americans are still free and we get to make those choices for our own children. And I would bet you don't have any.
I am 31 and they didn't teach home ec in school...
We had college prep courses...Believe me, I wish I could sew as well...doesn't mean I can't learn now but no, I was never taught in school...
Send the police to his house, this will teach him

Good grief. Do parents not teach their
kids ANYTHING anymore?
So the 'right way' to parent is to teach your kids to hate.
nm
I still think it should be the parents who teach the child these things, not the school's place.
Each child goes to school to learn facts. They learn their social skills, values, etc.at home and from friends that their parents allow them to associate with. The school is a public entity full of many INDIVIDUALS who all have different values and opinions. Teachers should not be teaching children their own personal values and should leave that to the parents.
If wanting to teach my son our own family values makes me a bigot..then so be it. sm
I will gladly wear that label. Flame away if you want.
I will NEVER let some school teacher try to foist her own opinions on my child. And to do this on school time??
The bible flat out says that man should not lie with man or woman with woman. If that school district is an example of what passes for family values in SF, no wonder Michael Savage calls it San Fran Sicko. I have to agree with him. Pretty dress or no pretty dress.
it's not illegal, but it's inappropriate & he shouldn't be allowed to teach anymore

2 girls, 8 and 4..........sm
Okay-
1. 8 and 4 beautiful girls
2. The 8-year-old does have a cell phone, but let me explain 1st. It is a prepaid cell phone. She is allowed allowed to dial certain numbers from this phone. I got it for her for Christmas for various reasons. My mother in-law can't hear well and LOVES to spend time with the kids. When they are they, I like for her to have a way to get ahold of us (grandma is always on the computer for IM, takes up her phone line). Also, this phone is for EMERGENCIES at school. She is a very good kid and has actually only used her phone once with permission to call my mom.
3. The 4-year-old has a TV. It is actually the 8-year-olds, but it is a "princess" tv, which apparently is not for her anymore. She gave it to my 4-year-old. No computer in room, but they do play on Dad's laptop, always with supervision.
4. No set allowance, but they do have chores and must have room clean before they go to friends' houses. 8-year-old takes care of her dog, 4-year-old takes care of the bird.

Their friends all have the "real" American Dolls and they have read the books so they want the American Girl Dolls that are in the books from the library and catalogs we get in the mail. They have seen the movies too and loved Kit Kittridge and her friend Ruthie so had their eye on them. Very, very expensive toys but they take good care of their things so I hope I can pick somethings up second-hand.
Thank you for all for all of your help.

People will usually be very sympathetic to the girls' feelings and will try to reassure them that the kitten will have a good home. You know your kids best, of course, but I think it helps when they know that the kittens are being adopted by nice, caring people.

Ballet for little girls?
Has anyone had or have their 3-year-old daughter enrolled in ballet class? I'm thinking of doing this, as my daughter constantly asks for it. Do they get anything out of it? I already have dreams of my prima ballerina daughter going onto bigger things, and she's only 3! I'm taking her to check out a class for free this week and will see how it goes. It's only for once a week and then a show they put on in June. Just wondering if anyone has any experiences to share. Thanks so much!
