So do my folks on the w. coast, and our celeb friend in Tx, its great! Dancing is an art form, and i am intriged by the quickness and methods that these newbies learn the dances, how well they perform them, how their character plays into it, etc. Love it!

I can't stop laughing....Whoopi in the middle? If she is in the middle, rush limbaugh is very far
She is further left than Rosie.
Dr. Who on BBC America
I watched almost all of the old ones, starting with Tom Baker, so I was so happy when they brought it back a couple of years ago.

I'm also a Grey's Anatomy junkie and I can't wait until next Monday when The Closer comes back on!!!
Education in America.....sm

I'm still shaking my head over this one, folks.  A member of our local school board, when asked about a child whose parents were told was failing all classes but in reality was only failing one said, "Well, a child can be behind their peers but still passing."

I don't know about you all, but in my day and time of growing up, if you had a C or higher average in a class you were passing and parents weren't told the child was failing.

Mall of America
Any one been to Mall of America in Minnesota, my DH wants to go and not sure what to expect?
Mall of America
Yep, I've been there more times than I'd like to admit. My teenage daughter absolutely loves it! Very big, lots of walking, but it's 4 levels and each "corner" is anchored by a department store. Has Camp Snoopy, an amusement park, in the middle and lots of food courts scattered throughout. Also has restaurants and movie theater on the fourth floor. Any other questions?
Mall of America
Are you from Minnesota? I'm originally from Rochester, but have lived away (all over the country) for the past 27 years. ButI'm moving back this summer. Watch out Mall of America!
Mall of America
There's a new Ikea store right across from the mall. By the way, if you get there early enough, you can find parking in one of the garages which are right across the street and connected by sky-ways (free parking). They also have lockers you can rent in case your purchases get too heavy to carry! Have fun and happy shopping!
Who do you want to win America's Got Talent? (sm)

I love the ventriloquist and Cas Haley. I have gotten to really like Butterscotch in the last few weeks, but hope either Terry Fator or Cas wins. Tomorrow night will tell.

America Idol
Does it bother anyone that there are foreign contestants on American Idol?
This is America. Your husband does not have the
right to tell anyone whether they can or cannot go anywhere, whether to your town to visit you, or anywhere else for that matter. I would just tell him that she is coming. If he doesn't like it, so what!!!
America's Most Wanted.
i try to never miss it. You never know when you might be able to help with a tip. Plus you learn how others have survived and coped with crime, and tips for staying safe. The down side is seeing how very cold-hearted and mean some people can be.

also like Greta VanSustren(sp?) on Fox; she has a good interview style.
and our nation IS America.
and the opposite of PROgress is CONgress! (he-yuck)

Of course they do, it's the dumbing down of America...
keep tabloids going, keep people interested in video games, the latest cell phone and PDA technology, ridiculous television shows with no substance, anything for Americans not to think on their own...that way they are easily persuaded into anything. Keep them happy and clueless.
Top Gear on BBC America
This show entertains me so much, I can hardly tell you.  The fact that it's about cars is incidental.  The three hosts just entertain the daylights out of me.
Anyone who has banking with Bank of America
you might want to know that the CEO of this bank has decided to let illegals have accounts here in the United States. No matter they are here illegally. I am in the process of changing banks.
Is anybody watching America Has Talent?

Normally I avoid those types of shows like the plague but I like seeing all these people who are amateurs show what they can do and you can see them improving and polishing their act and their look and gaining stage presence...it's really kind of nice to see such a variety of people striving to make their dreams come true.

What is your favorite act?

America is pretty wealthy. Does that mean all of

This is America. Learn English.
Why does this country make it so easy for them NOT to learn English?
This Is America. My grandparents who came from Italy learned English. They weren't "catered to" in Italian.
Now it's.... Press 1 for English 2 for Spanish.
Instructions to anything are given in both English and Spanish.
Signs all over are in written in Spanish.
We make it easy for them. Why should they learn English.
Because they spend money in this country. Is that why? They should make an effort to learn the language spoken here. JMO

Thoughts?
Not to mention when you try to make a service call, you get someone from India you can barely understand. Outsourcing, what a beautiful thing. NOT.

I had to mention the guy on America's Got Talent s/m
the other night who sang opera!  What a talent and what a warm wonderful guy who broke down when he spoke of his mother, what she has done for him, and what this means to her!
America should have self-powered buildings
if Dubai does.
Homeless Children in America

America's Youngest Outcasts & Campaign to End Child Homelessness

Over 1.5 million American children are homeless each year. The National Center on Family Homelessness is launching a Campaign to End Child Homelessness to galvanize the public and political will to end this national crisis. Our goal is to ensure that not one child in the United States will be homeless for even one day.

Great report only as how they break down the information, and that there is someone out there looking a this. How is your state doing?

I'll bet Bank of America isn't liking this

In a revealing example of what she says the average homeowner faces, a California Congresswoman spent more than two hours on the phone trying, without success, to find someone at the Bank of America who could help a struggling constituent modify his mortgage payments. ABC News "Nightline" cameras were rolling as Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-Ca.) was repeatedly put on hold for long stretches, disconnected, transferred to extensions that did not work and ultimately switched to a recording which directed her to the bank's website.

"The average American trying to negotiate a loan modification will not be able to get it done," said Waters. "It will be impossible for them to get in touch with the right person, and even if they get in touch with a so-called counselor, they have a cookie cutter kind of direction that they go in."

Every Indian in America must be slamming votes for this kid. It's the only thing that
stinks. Sundance sang circles around that kid. It had to have been a planned thing.  Something just wreaks about the whole thing.
And yet there are thousands (probably millions) starving to death in America.....nm

Well said, everything. I am tired of feeling like I don't even live in America anymore. sm
xx
That's what I LOVE about America. Freedom of Religion, speech, etc. But sm
I have to say, if you are an atheist (I am a Christian, BTW), where is your moral "compass" (sorry for the pun) I was an atheist for many, many years (3/4 of my life spent without God or religion). In that time I was: Suicidal, desperate, a liar, a phony, had no direction in life, a slander and just about everything else worldly you could think of. I was selfish..must I go on?
Then, when I hit rock bottom I had no where to look but up. He was there (God). He placed me upon a rock and I've never looked back or down since. I can honestly say I no longer lie or think bad thoughts about other people. I have a clear direction for my life. I do follow Biblical principles and obey His laws. I have a moral compass and a value system I am so proud of. As an atheist there was no right or wrong in my life. Since I didn't fear God I did basically whatever I felt was good or right, even believe in abortion. I am being totally transparent with you, from one ex-atheist to another atheist.

How do you explain a radical life change such as myself? Where do you draw your line of morality from? God says abortion is wrong and so it's wrong. God says a gay lifestyle is an abomination, and so it is. Don't get mad at me, It's in His Word. He said it. Not me.

Anyways, I think that there is much to be said about living a good Christian lifestyle and following its beliefs. My life is in clear order now instead of chaos. I have a life-long goal - to make it to heaven and take those whom I love with me.

What a sad, sad life I led before God. Wow. Like the old saying goes, "I never want to go back to my old life." Good luck to you.

Uh--"Feeding America Event"? Lord have mercy! nm

I live on the East Coast, definitely not "small town America"
Again, you shouldn't make excuses to spoil your kids and you absolutey shouldn't make assumptions that I live in "small town America" as that's definitely not the case. I was extremely careful driving because I always knew that if I got any kind of traffic violation, I was going to have to pay for it with my insurance rates going up. I grew up with a lot of kids that were spoiled as they "had" to have the most expensive clothes and shoes and, of course, couldn't pay for anything else and then mommy and daddy would foot the bill! Absolutely insane!
I would say 39 is middle age
since average life expectancy is around 78 or so. Doesn't mean I like it :)
I don't know about that...middle age 60-80?
Meaning most people live to like 120-160? WOW! lol I don't know what everyone else is thinking by these replies but I always thought middle age meant the "MIDDLE" of one's lifetime...doesn't it????
Right in the middle of
Carol Burnette on The View. I live in Virgina and am not very concerned about the NY governor. Although I do think he should resign.

i got caught in the middle
of a redneck area.  needless to say, I fled the area and the boyfriend.  too much for me.  I'm a yankee, and so is he, but he was use to the so called rednecks.  I do love the more cosmo parts of south. Can't help it!!
Here in middle Georgia, we are just
happy not to have the 100s. Reasonable now at 76 today. Gosh, fall… oh, yes, that is when the leaves all fall.
In the middle of the CA fires
We definitely need prayers. I am in Thousand Oaks, California, inland between Malibu and fires on the other side - Piru, Canyon Country, Stevenson Ranch. Breathing is almost impossible. The first day we were clouded completely in white smoke and ashes everywhere. All the windows have been closed for days, and still I find fine dust and ash all over inside the house. I have been here in this town for 26 years, and have never ever seen winds like these. It is unbelievable. We get a break in the wind, and the sky clears, but just when you think it is over, there is another fire erupting somewhere nearby. So far, no fires in the immediate town, just smoke drifting over to our city. We need prayers. If I am a nervous wreck I can imagine how heartbreaking it is for the people who have lost everything to the fires. They say maybe this will let up tomorrow. I can't image another day of this. The winds are so strong, my yards are destroyed. All the flowers in the beds are down, my vegetable garden is ruined, and there are tree branches all over my roof. This too will pass.
Yep, smack dab in the middle.
Near some joint called Bangor.
My husband took a nap once in the middle of the day
and by 8:00 p.m., his wife, in her early 40s, had died. It was completely unexpected. She was not sick prior to this happening.

That time he was right. I can count a zillion other times when his predictions and dreams were dead wrong.

Nothing with UFOs, sorry. I remain a skeptic.
liar is my middle name
or is it fraudulent, deceitful, duplicitous, or two-faced? I kind of like the sound of two-faced. It's perfect for me.
In the middle of the night?
They'd come in every night, have a noisy destructive party, and leave come dawn.  Does the animal control in your area work 24/7?  Ours doesn't.  We tried blocking all entrances to the basement and they'd dig around it and get in anyway, making it clear they wouldn't take no for an answer.  Was I supposed to blast music down my ducts all night, every night?  I don't think so, my sleep is more important.  IMO its less "cruel" than hunting for "sport".  I was protecting my property and my peace of mind.  I also have no problem killing bats that get in my house, and trapping smaller animals and relocating them elsewhere.  If animals are outside, I don't mess with them.  If they come in my house, I have a right to get them out by any means necessary.
If that is middle-class then I have to be
below the poverty level.
middle-aged
The only time the kids are allowed to hang out at my house is on my days off.

If my kids are bored, they do some of the chores I would have otherwise had to do like cooking, cleaning, fixing things around the house, etc.

As far as I am concerned the cure for boredom is WORK and the cure for work is play, in that order. Why should they goof around and eat your food while you bust your tail? Put them to work or send them home.

My son also volunteers for the local museum when he becomes too self-absorbed for anyone to stand him. That snaps him back into shape! and you are right, the dropping/picking up is a giant pain.

And not that it is true, but my son says that the "mall" is where they are hooking up in the dressing rooms, so I don't think I would pick that as an alternative....just me...
I'm in the middle of book now, very good!
I've always liked her and wanted to read more about her and Phil, how they met and all. I can relate in some ways with the alcoholic father. I'm going to try to finish it tonight or over the weekend, at least!
The older I get, the higher *middle age* becomes. lol. nm

I guess I'm middle aged at 55 but
I snow skiied 7 hours in 2 days, plus I'm a certified open water scuba diver. I walk 20 miles a week and I can run rings around my sons who are 30 and 25... Age is just a number!!! susan

wait until middle school!
This is easy-cheesy stuff. In middle school, they get really catty. Glad those years are over. High school has actually been a dream in comparison.
Well, I'm right in the middle, not skinny just healthy
I've never really been skinny, I'm too curvy to ever be skinny, but I'm at a healthy weight (bmi of 21) and very happy with my body. I pretty much eat whatever I want, just know I need to exercise more if I eat high-calorie/high-fat foods. I've been overweight but was miserable and decided to make a change, definitely much happier now.
