naturally, it works for many things - NM

Anyone find as you get older you get a more interrupted sleep pattern and sleep less and wake up
more at night.  Any suggestions for this.
I'm with you. I think naturally men are much better leaders.nm

i think we naturally seek
to know and be close to God, at least until the 'world' around us lures us away. The whole idea undergirding my religion is that God wishes to have us reconciled with Him. I personally believe we instinctively feel that void. Like your child, i grew up in a nonreligious home, and was very drawn towards finding God. My opinion.
I have naturally curly....

hair, but not the nice locks that look sexy, I have a huge poodle-like frizz ball on my head!  I used Biosilk for years with my flat iron and it works great.  You buy it in the salon.  I never could find any of the department store products that worked.  Recently, I found a new line of products made by Palmer's and you can buy them in Wal-Mart.  They have shampoo, conditioner, etc and are made with extra virgin olive oil and I promise you these are WONDERFUL!  They have this stuff that comes in a big green aerosol spray bottle and it's called "sheen spray".  I use that now with my flat iron and if I'm in a hurry I will use it without my flat iron.  I LOVE that stuff and it only costs around 5 bucks!

Easy for you to say if you can have children naturally..sm

My hubs and I tried for 2 years and found out I have blocked tubes and scar tissue so bad that surgery would not help it.  After trying to adopt 2 children and burning through 12k, our hearts were broken when the children were sent back to their biological mothers.  We then tried in vitro and it worked.  It is easy for you to say IVF is selfish because you can probably conceive children the "normal" way.  Until you experience this, you can't say that it is selfish to want to have a child.

I personally have a naturally round face...sm
so, no I don't think extra weight looks good ON ME, and I have enough of it right now.  It all boils down to personal preference, I guess.  Like with most things of this nature.
I like Aveda and I have naturally curly hair.

It's pricey.  But it seems to make my hair so smooth and silky and manageable even when I decide to straighten it with a hot brush.  Actually I like all the Aveda hair care products.

I'm an Avon girl for make-up.  I especially like the cream to powder foundation.  Easy to apply and then easy to take off at night, but I still use noxzema for make-up removal since I was a teenager.  I don't wear make-up everyday, but when I do I really like the Avon products.  Not too found of the nail polish, but I like the eyeliners and lipsticks.  OPI is the best for nail polish as far as I can tell.

I have naturally curly hair that is colored, and thus dry sm
First, stop washing all the time - I cut back to once a week (when scalp feels icky) but I use a conditioner every day (rinse out). Out of the shower I put on a vial of Hask placenta leave-in conditioner; that adds shine and restores the curl. Another good thing to try is an avocado oil treatment; you can use this daily on towel dried hair and it adds lots of shine.

Melatonin, especially if you are 40+
Melatonin levels start going down as we get older, so sometimes that's all you need to get you back on track.

Valerian also works, but even with it inside capsules that is one stinky herb, LOL.
Have you tried melatonin?

That works really well for my husband. He used to be in the military and went overseas a lot, so he would take melatonin to help him sleep at the "right" times to get over the jet lag more quickly.

Might be worth a shot....

Take melatonin

It is a natural substance that your body normally produces, just sometimes it doesn't produce enough of it. When my husband was in the Air Force, he used to take melatonin to help him get over jet lag.

I read an article recently that said a wakeful period around 2-4 a.m. is part of the natural sleeping cycle. A couple hundred years ago, people would get up, have a snack, socialize, etc., then go back to bed and sleep for four more hours or so.

I know information like that doesn't help the problem, but at least you know it's a natural thing and not something unusual that only happens to you..... (my problem is getting to sleep - sometimes 4, 4:30, 5 a.m.).

melatonin
what dose are you taking? I only need 1.5 to get a nice restful sleep and the next day I feel so much better.
melatonin
Ever give it to teenagers to help get to sleep? hmm.. am going to look for it today.
melatonin
Today I spoke with the pharmacist about giving melatonin to teenagers. Her response was to check it out by dropping one into vinegar and see if it dissolves well. She said vinegar represents stomach acid and you can tell if a pill is loaded with too many "other ingredients" (and not what you want) by how it dissolves. There are no controls on how much melatonin (or specific vitamin or natural ingredient) is in an OTC pill and it may have none at all or varying amounts. I thought that was a pretty interesting piece of information. She never would say yea/nay re teenagers, but did give suggestions regarding sleep hygiene, etc.
Melatonin might help
It works for some people very well.  My ex used to take it when he worked nights.  It worked well for him.  If you don't want warm milk, maybe a turkey leg for a bedtime snack would do well.
Try Melatonin

Its a vitamin. Our bodies produce it naturally, but less as we age. You will get 8 hours of sleep with it!

Melatonin - just started using (sm)
I just started using melatonin for sleep - had been using Benadryl every night.  Guess what?  I have had unrefreshing sleep for so long - this stuff has helped me so much.  I think I have had a deficiency.  I have felt so good two days in a row after using this stuff for sleep.  I only slept about 6 hours last night but it was the best sleep I've had in years so I feel great.  There are tons of web sites about the deficiency symptoms if anyone thinks they may need it.  I just can't believe after all this time a $5 bottle of melatonin from the grocery store has helped me this much!
Used to give melatonin to my mom when

she mixed up night and day. She was going blind and she couldn't tell whether it was day or night. She only needed it for 2 weeks and was back on schedule. Her doctor told me about it back in 1996.

Come to think about it, maybe I should get some. I sleep an hour, then wide awake for 1 to 2 hours, then back to sleep for a couple minutes then wide awake again. This goes on all night long.

On second thought, I could just keep the 'puter running all night. Then when I'm awake, I can start working. That always puts me to sleep.

Melatonin question
A few days ago someone posted that melatonin has been a wonderful sleep aid.  I know that certain things such as St. John's Wort can counteract birth control pills due to the herbs.  How about melatonin? I googled it and didn't find anything but am still wondering.
It doesn't matter "where you stand." What works for you is fine. What works for me is fine.
Comparing ourselves as to frequency is ridiculous.
Melatonin is a substance which is normally produced by your body

It seems unlikely that it would counteract BCP but you might call your pharmacist and ask.

My husband used to use it when he was in the Air Force and getting sent overseas a lot. It helped him overcome the jet lag more quickly. But then, he didn't have to worry about getting pregnant!

Walnuts- natural source of melatonin
Want a better night's sleep? Try sprinkling your dinner's tossed green salad, fruit salad or steamed vegetables with a handful of walnuts. Or enjoy a baked apple or poached pear topped with walnuts for dessert.

Melatonin, a hormone produced by the pineal gland, which is involved in inducing and regulating sleep and is also a powerful antioxidant, has been discovered in walnuts in bio-available form, making them the perfect evening food for a natural good night's sleep.

Melatonin has been shown to help improve sleep for night shift workers and people suffering from jet lag, but maintaining healthy levels of this hormone is important for everyone over the age of 40 since the amount of melatonin produced by the human body decreases significantly as we age, and this decrease in antioxidant protection may be related to the development of free radical-related diseases later in life.

In a study published in Nutrition, Russell Reiter and colleagues at the University of Texas have not only quantified the amount of melatonin present in walnuts-between 2.5 and 4.5 ng/gram-but have demonstrated that eating walnuts triples blood levels of melatonin and also increases antioxidant activity in the bloodstream in animals.

The authors theorize that by helping the body resist oxidative stress (free radical damage), walnuts may help reduce the risk of cancer and delay or reduce the severity of cardiovascular disease and neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's or Alzheimer's disease. Walnuts, best known as a heart-healthy nut, are also a rich source of another highly cardio-protective nutrient: omega-3-fatty acids, so Reiter and his team will next investigate possible synergy between walnuts' omega-3 fats and melatonin. To us at the World's Healthiest Foods, this sounds familiar theme in Nature's symphony in which whole, wholesome foods each provide a wealth of nutrients whose harmony promotes our optimal health.
Might try valerian root capsules or 5HTP or melatonin, in vitamin section

How old is your brain?

This tests what you retain when shown something for brief time. The web site instructions are in Japanese, so read below!

1. Touch 'start'
2. Wait for countdown... 3, 2, 1.
3. Memorize the number's position on the screen, and then click the circles in order from the smallest number to the biggest number.
4. At the end of game, the computer will tell you the age of your brain.

Brain tumor

To those of you that replied regarding my sister's 4-year-old son having a brain tumor, Thank you.

Has he always been like this? Wonder if vascular brain changes
s
Odd. Wonder if she may have a brain tumor?

Although there was a case here where a woman, after her child died, stole over a million from her employer and lost it through compulsive gambling and then committed suicide.  In her case, she had always been an upstanding member of the community and had no prior history of gambling.  Perhaps anger, stress, and grief contributed to temporary insanity and then appalled by what she had done, she killed herself.  Everybody that knew her was just stunned.

Ever have a song going on in your brain that you SM
can't get out? Well, I have Black Eye Peas "Lady Lumps"! I don't even like it, but when channel surfing, MTV2 runs it all the time.  Must be where I heard it.

You do know the meaning of brain-washed
dont you?? Oh well, I guess he will have to find another way to live now. Pretty soon he will be evicted from the home he is squatting on in the Bahamas. He was her enabler, not her lover and he knew it, might have wanted to be. Larry has already said the grandmother would get visitation rights and I think that is the way it should be.
sounds like your husband has a brain

Sounds like it's time for a brain MRI.
Hope it turns out to be something simple.
You said it "rejuvinates brain cells"...sm

I was always told it kills brain cells.  I always believed that because I thought my ex was walking proof! lol.  Does it really rejuvinate them? I too believe in its usage for medicinal purposes.  Back in the day (waaaaay back) I smoked it once when I had an excruciating toothache (cuz that always happens on weekends when the dentist is closed!) and it relaxed me enough to tolerate the pain.  It was either that or I was going to overdose on Tylenol, Motrin, whatever I could find cuz they weren't working for crap.  I also did it once when I had an earache. (again waaaay back in the day).  It works wonders.  Doesn't take the pain away but makes it tolerable.  I definitely am against using it for recreation.  When my ex was getting high it was like walking on pins and needles around him.  He was wonderful when he was high but when he wasn't he was just the biggest a-hole!

I'm the one who said it rejuvinates brain cells
I can't remember where I read that exactly, but I read that it rejuvinates brain cells. It does not kill them like we've been told by "the establishment". I did find an interesting link that tells the myths about marijuana - here is the link.

snorting the crack OUR parents didn't teach us about!

Geesh -- why always so quick to blame the parents?  This kid is 14 years old and knew better than to do this.  She chose to do it anyway, just like so many others before her time chose to get up knocked up, strung out on drugs, become an alcoholic, etc.

Yes, the kid screwed up, but that's what kids do.  Didn't you ever have a friend who stole a car in high school or got caught cheating and ended up expelled?  It's not the end of the world, but spreading it all over the media could very well push this kid over the edge and cause her to hurt herself.  She obviously is looking for attention or affection.  This is certainly not going to help her.

it took a while, not file, work on the brain-nm

Female anatomy and the brain
I do a lot of neuro dictation and I've noticed that seizures and migraines tend to increase in a lot of females with their menses.  Anyone know the link between females having an increase in both of these problems with their menses?  Would a hysterectomy be helpful?  I'm truly curious about this.
