Speak with a lawyer first regarding what impact having the state take over will have on you, how it will affect you, what will be done. I was warned by our family physician and a therapist to NOT do this with my mother. Your mother has dementia. She is a danger to self and others (gd). Proceed very cautiously here for your own sake as well as hers. For one thing, you need legal documentation that you are not the cause of her injuries, as elderly abuse is rampant now.
