what we do

we have all agreed that of the adults in our family have everything they need and most of what we want so we don't exchange gifts just to buy gifts. We only buy something for someone else if we see the one thing that is too perfect to pass up. One year you may get gifts for someone, one year you may not. One year you might receive gifts, the next you may not. It's fun that way. What we do, though, is always donate to the Ronald McDonald House at the Children's Hospital in our city. We bake cookies, buy toys, and donate cash. Often times there are families there who have a very sick child in the hospital and their other children are, of course, with them at the House and for them Christmas gets "lost" so we try to bring a little normalcy to Christmas for those other children. We have also helped prepare and serve the Christmas dinners there. That is the true gift of Christmas and is the best gift to gift yourself - to give to someone else.
