Who is your favorite TV host?

Any type of TV show, news, entertainment, informational/educational, sales, food, decorating, whatever!

I think my favorite has to be Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs. He just cracks me up.

Who's yours?

The view - new host
I saw Roseanne on the view a few weeks ago and she seems to have really mellowed. But to watch her everyday - no way. I think she would turn into a Rosie or worse. I would like to see another younger person on - perhaps a bit older than Elisabeth - but someone definitely in their 30's early 40's and someon who doesn't begin with an agenda. Then I might watch again.
Whoopie! New co-host of the view is

Whoopie Goldberg!

I know am going to watch again!

Rosie just turned my stomach.  Blechhhhhh.

Good job, Babs.

Now Roseanne is supposed to host The View? SM
If they want a kvetchy Jewish woman to host, I would be glad to oblige. But Roseanne? Oy Vey!
Onto NY Eve - do we go out, host a party, or play it dull
s
how do you respond

A few times I've met someone from the same city I grew up in and I say I am from xyz area. They always say something like you are really nice or I can't believe that or something kind of degrading. How do you respond? I kind of get flustered and do not know what to say!

I've met people from xyz area and we joke about living there. It's commenting on the conditions, not our personal character. It's not the same type of degrading comments like above.

This isn't a big deal but I would like to learn how respond!  I could just keep my mouth shut and think before I speak!  The first time it happened I was not expecting that comment. I was very off guard. I never knew people would judge someone based on where they were born/raised.

Would never respond to my son
the way you did. I don't want this to turn into a fight. I just think that everyone is different and I wouldn't assume something about that way I choose raise my daughter is such a bad idea. Being a mother is the most underappreciated job there is. What is wrong with a little support/ or at least not thinking I am worried about my daughter getting pregnant?
I would have had to respond to her.
It's not like your friend or the daughters are world class athletes, so in the grand scheme of things, missing 1-2 classes isn't a big deal. Some people take things WAY too seriously. Yeah, I've got kids in sports and the coaches act like they're going to be kicked out of the Olympics if they miss a practice. Be there or be benched. Never mind if the kids are sick. Spread germs all over the place, but don't miss practice. And the coaches act as if the sports are more important than my other kids and my job. Little coach dude with the big mouth, I make way more money than you do! LOL Tell your friend that some things are more important than athletics, like FAMILY and ILLNESS. Some people have really messed up priorities. I don't know why they're having practice on a holiday week anyway. We've got games and practice all week. What if we had wanted to leave town to visit relatives?
You like Bill O'reilly?(Former host on Inside Edition)

Radio show host Mike Gallagher...
offered them airtime on his show if they would call off the protest for the VT person's funeral and they agreed. The article I read said this radio host did the same thing when he heard they were going to protest the Amish school shooting funeral. All this Phelps retard wants is to get his "message" out there and so I guess he's going to use the radio to do it now, instead of the funeral.
Always respond regardless that the response is
Unfortunately, many people think if they don't respond you are supposed to take that as a "No". That is just bad manners. I once responded to a candle party with a "Yes" and the hostess even said, well I just put that on their. You didn't really have to call. Go figure.
We only respond to what you post.

Food Network TV personality...host of Good Eats.
Great show...he blends science with food.  It's perfect for those of us with attention-span-holding issues!
I disagree with you, won't blast you, but will respond...

In my opinion, the largest selling holiday of the year is Christmas...period.  If these businesses want to peddle their products, then they ought not pull Christmas out of their advertising.  That stinks.  I don't think it was ever mentioned that ONLY Christmas be advertised.  BOTH, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays could be advertised together.  But, on the Christian side of things, I think that they went too far when they tried to lump every other religious holiday together to try to be politically correct and remove Merry Christmas, which is a greeting that has been used for many, many years.  Also, Christians don't try to push Santa Claus out of Christmas.  Not every religious holiday falls on December 25th, so that in itself seems inproper.

You don't have to respond, just food for thought
Did I detect possibly the real reason that this is upsetting you so much? Did you have something happen in your life that you regret? Perhaps sex too early or with the wrong person?

Is your daughter responsible in the other aspects of her life? Good grades/work/etc.?

Unfortunately, as teenagers we don't always make the best decisions - I made some not-so-smart ones myself - but it is from those decisions that we learn more about ourselves. I know it's hard to watch someone you love going full speed ahead into a train wreck, but sometimes we have to. Unfortunately, I can't give you the secret to how to "detach with love" (I've found, like the poster above, that Al-Anon meetings really fit with every aspect of life, and this is something they say often). Again, I don't know how to tell you to do it. Once I realized I could not control my loved ones or their choices, it just kind of happened. Maybe just really think about why you are so disappointed and, if it has to do with a personal experience, maybe you should share that with your daughter. It may help her understand you better and vise versa. Best wishes.
okay. Willl not respond anymore. Thanks. Nm

i meant to respond to you about the 2 year old
YEA TRUE STORY

those are the victims

it's really naieve of you to think that the only thing that happens when you smoke pot is you get hungry. it was a funny joke but overall certain situations are not funny
Amen! I was biting my tongue not to respond,
as it probably would have been in anger. And to have such a hostile spirit and then go quoting scripture. Whew. Does not give a good testimony, but you sure did. Thanks for saying it so eloquently and lovingly. The sinner in me also can't help but mention that the devil could quote scripture just as well as Christ. He was -- well versed --
yep, w/email today, no excuse not to respond!!

Reality channel!??!!??
Not available here.
You need to get Sundance channel on
xx
She has news channel no one else has?
I have home page as CNN and nothing mentioned, no news on local 3 channels, no CNN, Fox or MSNBC.
Saw on Discovery Channel sm
Special showed Nigerians conning people with phony history, etc., and the poor donors being lied to. It's a horrible situation both for the donor and recipient. The only ones who benefit are the con artists big $$$$.
we had 1 channel when we were north
and it was great. We only had an antenna. Got used to just those shows that came on and if I didn't like something on TV I read or did something else.

For some reason I enjoyed TV much better when I didn't have so much to choose from. Now it's all garbage.

I hate TV but do find I keep it on for noise.

All I say is GO FOR IT. My sister says she wishes she cut the TV off more with their son. Now he's hooked, but their daughter has very little interest in TV. She reads and plays and does other stuff.
you have to do a channel re- scan!
Press 'menu' on your remote control
Go to 'Channel Menu'
press 'Auto Scan'

Sytsem will do a Channel scan and look for all available channels and start sending 1st channel.
instead of doing some negative...
Do something positive! Start an exercise routine, take a yoga class, start cooking exotic but healthy meals...that'll surely get your man's attention. Why kill yourself just so a man will pay attention to you? That doesn't make sense...You are worth taking care of, no matter who or what gives you attention.
It's a video from a news channel
That shows how crooks can use a method called bumping to open DEADBOLT doorlocks in a couple of seconds.

The crook has some sort of key made, they stick it in your lock, rap on it with a screwdriver or small mallet, and bingo, it's like the key was made for your lock!
Yes, I enjoy Discovery Channel.
I'll watch for that. I can add it to my DVR recordings, too.

food network channel

I watch the Food channel and now they have a special:  Giada in Paradise.  Love love love Santorini (Greece) where this is filmed but I am so distracted by Giada's massive ginormous head and large numbers of teeth along with her phony inflection. It is driving me nuts!  How mean am I??  She just irks me and it's ruining the show for me.

oh puh-LEEZE!!! Turn the channel if you don't like it. nm
x
Well, it's actually Nickelodeon, not Disney Channel.
Since everyone is trying to set the record straight here, but I am willing to bet they don't even know what they are going to do yet.

Also, the "Zoey movie" didn't answer a thing. It was left as a cliffhanger...sort of.
My cat loves the Animal Channel.
I swear she does. She is sitting on my desk watching someone fish, catching Marlin, as I am typing this. I have noticed with other Animal Channel episodes she will watch. There is now a bunny going across the street, then back again and she follows her head with the bunny running. No, I am not crazy. My kitty actually does this. Anyone else?
What negative impact?
Wal-Mart generally has a positive impact on the local economy.  Yeah, it may run a small business or two out that cannot compete, but it hires a lot more people and ensures that people that shop there pay lower prices than previously giving a net return of more cash to the consumer.  I'll take the lower prices.
You may be right, I tend to be very negative
So thanks for the honesty, I may just get that DVD.
I turn off the food channel when she comes on. I cannot deal with her at all. I would much rather
watch anyone else on their but her.
History Channel and a turkey sandwich!

Every now and again I get WICKED insomnia myself...definitely stress related.  It totally sucks too, I know what you're goin' through.  Throws everything outta whack.

Tylenol PM works really well for me...just one tablet and I'm out for a minimum of 9 hours.  Wine will make me sleepy but really just puts me out for a 2-3 hour nap.  Otherwise, just my daily chores and typin' work is enough to make me want to be in bed by 7 and not get up until the alarm goes off at 5.

"They" say to set a schedule and try to stick to it.  No naps during the day, and the bedroom is only for sleeping and, er, well no tv and no food anyway ;-)  I also use a white-noise machine (actually just a fan that I affectionatly call "noisy fan") and have one of those Plug-Ins in a relaxing scent (lilac).

Being anal retentive, I find I can fall asleep easiest knowing that all the house stuff is done (dishes, laundry, coffee maker prepped, etc) and when I get up everything is clean and ready for the next day.

Good luck with it all...have the hot flashes hit yet?

There is another guy on the food channel who eats yucky!
NM
Funny! I love the History Channel and...
Dirty Jobs and cannot imagine the drama of living with another woman. Have you not seen how much they complain?
always so negative I got her name right maybe you just dont have all the facts
Her name was Vicki Lynn however those who did know her from before know that she used the nickname Nicki when she worked in the clubs around Houston and when she went to Playboy they changed her name to Anna Nicole.

Enjoy your rant I just gave my opinion like everyone else sorry to have annoyed you with a little different point of view.
It is considered a double negative, sm
and not standardly use.  Use "regardless", or "irrespective".  It is considered bad grammar.
I agree/always seems very negative and angry.
x
I'm giving up negative comments
I'm going to let only positive comments pass my lips, otherwise I will stay quiet. Believe me, the Lord knows what a sacrifice this will be for me.
I don't think she meant anything negative. Agree
xxx
Why all the negative posts and not signing your name? sm

Hmmm.  I find that very curious.  It makes me think either you've been hurt very badly somehow regarding puppy mills and have completely given up, or... you're worried about your livelihood because you're running a puppy mill.  Just speculating, of course, but why else would you even feel the need to post and be so incredibly negative?

*Of course* this show will help, if only for the fact that so many people just simply aren't aware of the pet store-puppy mill connection and this will educate them and raise their awareness.  What is the alternative - do nothing?  No, unacceptable.

I had only heard negative about pit bulls
until I heard Rachael Ray talk about hers. With a personality like hers how can she have a bad dog? I do have a new respect for them now, but I agree that I would want to do some research on their "family". I personally prefer tiny little dogs that don't shed. Do pit bulls shed? I posted below that we had a boxer and the shedding was unbelievable but that is not the reason we no longer have her.
Perhaps an entire cable channel devoted to multiples?
xx
I agree, I had 2 babies with negative ultrasounds
I did not have the same negative ultrasound finding that you have, but 2 of my 4 babies did have things wrong on the ultrasounds from not functioning organs to cysts on the brain. Both babies were born healthy and are today still years later very healthy and happy. I also had a friend who was told she was going to have a trisomy baby, but a scan 2 weeks later proved the first scan (or technician) wrong as did her amniotomy, a perfectly healthy baby girl. Hang in there, I am sure the thoughts are filling your mind and heart every moment, but try and look up info on Google just to gain more knowledge. I will pray for you. :)
Sounds like he is a negative weight pulling you

I'm sorry to hear about your situation.  I agree with what some others said about at least taking some time apart to see how things go.  I also agree with consulting with a family law attorney.  Almost all attorneys have free consultations, so you could talk to several lawyers for free and find one you feel comfortable with.  They often give free advice before you even hire them (the one I worked for did anyway).

It stinks that your husband is so insistent about keeping the house, but if you do end up divorcing it may be hard for you to live there anyway with all the memories, so a new place might be good for you.  It would be hard on your kids for sure, but it is probably hard for them to see their mother belittled and to witness a seemingly loveless marriage as well.

Maybe your husband doesn't want to focus on his own shortcomings so he is focusing on yours or maybe he is just too much of a perfectionist and too selfish.  Have you guys tried counseling?

If you do end up spending time apart you might end up feeling incredibly free without someone constantly telling you how WRONG you are when in fact you are only human and have flaws like everyone else.  He obviously has flaws too, and I would bet money his place would not be spotless and perfectly "organized" if you weren't there to clean it for him!  He probably has no idea how hard you work.  You deserve to be loved unconditionally, and even if you guys break up and you don't date anyone for awhile, at least he won't be there trying to dampen your self confidence and the love you have for yourself.  Good luck and stay strong!!!

That should be "then." I'm just so sick of the negative here! Getalife!

You are missing the boat entirely and totally negative when you no NOTHING

He has more (material things) than you do and most men of 60s+.  He has a home that he has worked to own -- not given to him!  Material things do not mean much to me, however.  I make my own living.  He has an engineering and Masters degree.  How many degrees do you have?  He is very athletic!  He has had olympic training.  He is a wonderful man who MANY of you would desire and don't have.  He knows that pleases a woman and EXACTLY what he wants in life.

Most important to me is that he expresses that he is a "God-fearing" man.  There is NOTHING in life more important to me than that!

He has no kids -- not a priority in life for him.  He is too wonderful to describe!  I know more about him than you will ever know about your partner, because we COMMUNICATE.

Sorry for your skepticism.  But I will take it with a grain of salt, as it deserves to be taken.

This man is an open book -- but not only that, but he hides nothing.

WOW is all I can say about him !  Have never met a man like this in my entire life!  He wants to please me, and he is certainly capable of doing that.
