Depressed is the right word for what he feels, so you can shut your mouth right now. This is all about guilt.
I am a step-mom too and I swear you are telling my story down to the glasses!

I would love to tell you that you are in this together and partners, etc., but the truth is my husband did not come around until he got a good job, a really good job that had status and paid a lot of money, and he had to do that all on his own. I let him buy expensive clothes, because for some reason, every time he got a raise it co-incided with buying a nicer suit or tie, so you can help him there.

All the nightmarish gift exchanges, arguments about buying lotto tickets, not eating out, step-kids, all the horrific details and arguments just came down to him deciding to step up. Then it all just went away, the depression, the lotto tickets, and the give away the farm stuff too.

Good luck to you! Don't give up on him!

AT&T UNIVERSE IS GREAT

If your state offers AT&T Universe go for it.  I just had it installed.  My TV cable, internet and lap tops are all in one now.  It all gets hooked up through your TV.  I now can drop the extra line that I had for my internet, even my main desk top computer is wireless.  No wireless boxes on my desk anymore.  My TV picture is so much brighter.   I am saving 50 dollars a month.

Boy, you sure are the WalMart Defender of the Universe, aren't you?

Carbon credits and life in the universe
I understand it the way the poster below said too. Either way Algore can keep poluting all he wants and throw a few bucks into his own company and make money off of it. I think its a little funny (or odd) that Algore is making money from the carbon credits.

Life on other planets....do you have a couple hours? HA HA. I'll try and not drone on. Sure I'll be called a weird-o or crack-pot by lots of posters but this is what I believe. I do believe there is life on other planets. I believe we are visited all the time. The other life forms are way ahead of us (intellectually wise) and have travel machines that let them travel here and back through dimensions, black holes, or however it is they can get around. There is evidence on the moon and mars of old ruins, buildings, roads, equipment, etc. DH told me that even one of the first astronauts who went to the moon said there is life out there. So with all the proof I do believe there is life. Besides I really can't believe out of the billions and billions of stars and planets that earth is the only one with life (whether it be intelligent or not). Like they said in the move Contact - "It would just be a waste of space". P.S. - I'm not wearing one of those tin foil hats like in the movie "Signs" HA HA HA HA

P.S.S. - I believe the wheat and cornfields are the Etch-A-Sketch for the Aliens.
