I find this incredibly irritating on so many levels, I don't even know where to start. If she likes the way she looks, why would she care if she is as big as an elephant? If she's happy with being that fat, a comparison to another creature shouldn't make any difference. & anyway, what's wrong with elephants? I get sick of people using similarity to animals as the yardstick for how terrible, stupid, fat, etc., they are, when more often than not I find non-humans superior to humans on many levels.
If she doesn't like the way she looks, then she should lose weight & fit into an MRI machine. Why does the world have to accommodate people who are voluntarily 4 standard deviations away from the norm??
Now we get to hear how someone with a BMI of 53 can't help it.
Relatively speaking, she's a lot bigger than an elephant. I haven't seen any obese elephants lately. Compared to the rest of the population they each belong to, she's way fatter.
They probably did tell her to go to a zoo. There is vet equipment for large animals that would probably accommodate her. Horses are routinely run on treadmills.
She'll be lucky there's an alternative if (when) she needs an exercise stress test.
