thank you! she wanted to put the candy in the rolls so that it kinda resembled spirit sticks. i have to go to hobby lobby anyway because this is homecoming week and have to go buy mum making supplies and all that goes along with it, lol, so i will look and see if i can't buy some rolls of wrapping paper in our school colors and serve both purposes. thank you so much for that suggestion. that will add to it somewhat.

wrapping paper tubes
I like your daughter's idea.... Call all your friends and ask how many rolls of holiday wrapping paper they've got stashed in a corner of a closet...slide the paper off and you can cut about 4-5 usable tubes outta each one. Depending on the school colors, you may be able to use some of the paper as the outside wrapping. What about reynolds wrap tubes?
Gift Bags or Wrapping Paper?
I love the Christmas gift bags you can buy at the various dollar stores. SO much easier than boxes and wrapping. They are pretty and very inexpensive. I have seen similar bags at Target for much more. I LOVE cheching out the different Dollar stores. I like Big Lots too. Great deals. Tissue paper and gift bags for me. How about you?

Are they being mailed?? If so, wrap them in plastic wrap and then foil and put them in Pringle's Potato Chip tins. This works great for care packages going to Iraq.
DRAT,,,, I can bring up the U tubes but
I can't get them to play.
Wonder what's wrong. Guess I have to check it out further but really would enjoy seeing in. I love your description.
tubes tied versus Essure?
Anyone have either of these procedures done? My husband was supposed to have a vasectomy before my IUD "expired", that was 4 3/4 years ago and I have two more months until I have to have my IUD out. I want something permanent and was going to get my tubes tied/cut but then I found out about the Essure procedure. I'm still leaning towards the tubal but just wondering if anyone out there has any opinions. Thanks so much!
Thank you! I didn't realize they made computer glasses. Will make an appt. Spit didn't wor

Paper trails........
Suspicion started a long time ago, wondering where they get the money to support such a lifestyle with such large families. They do have their own businesses but most not enough to support those families and HUGE expensive homes for a lot of them. The investigations into this showed they were very dependent on the government for welfare assistance programs. It is hypocritical isn't it...to cut themselves off from this horrible sinful outside world only to partake in it as they see fit.....our money!!!
Buy more than one paper Thurs. a.m.
It will be worth the price to get extra coupons, especially if you have someone else to go with. Preplan the day/night before. Layer clothing as it may be really cold out usually (where I live anyway) but the stores get hot, crowded and nasty. But it's worth it if you really still need to shop for some special things. I would not want my husband with me as he gets frustrated with crowds and holds me back. Better to bring a friend who will help you shop and likes the excitement of it all. Have fun!!
Hey, anyone into paper mache?
That is something else I have thought would be fun. Anyone into that?
I know it gets a little more complicated (materials and such) than the balloon pinatas made in school, but I'd like to learn.
I've tried a lot of paper and it still has trouble.

The paper towel commercial...
with the kid shaking the soda bottle that explodes all over the kitchen and his mom grabs the hose from the sink and sprays him back. What an example for all the little kids watching TV!
I personally like the Geico cavemen. They crack me up everytime. But I don't think they need a TV show based on them. That's too much.
I use A LOT more than 2 squares of toilet paper. LOL

Ditch the paper towels... sm
Instead of using paper towels/napkins at mealtime, we use linen napkins. If we happen to eat fast food (we usually bring it home), we always keep the extra napkins to use later.
Also, you can use vinegar and water and newspapers to replace Windex/paper towels when doing windows/mirrors/faucets around the house.
my mom would stash paper towels and - sm
toilet paper. When she died I counted 86 rolls of TP and about 30 paper towels, also about 15 boxes each of zip lock bags, quart, gallon, freezer bags. My dad and I divvied it all up between him, me and my two brothers. If it was on sale at the store my mom bought it. Had about 18 pounds of butter in the refrigerator too, as well as cheese, and about 80 packs of Hershey chocolates (they were hidden in a closet). Was a bit OC on the TP and PT though, and every night she would check all the doors to make sure they were locked at least 4 x before she would go to bed. Always made enough food that is for sure. My MIL goes either one way or the other, we never know until we get there though. No snacks so it if is a sparse dinner then we end up going home hungry and stopping on the way to get something, or the kids fill up on the dessert I bring. Stayed home this year though, and my BIL is cooking for them this year, and I cooked for us.
I emailed you about the paper mache
I do some myself and I have become addicted!
I didn't say her decor didn't sound great.
It's not ridiculous.
I would seriously doubt the Christianity of anyone who feels it is okay to celebrate Halloween. It is anti-God in every aspect.
You can only service 1 God and the folly of man and carnality is in direct conflict with holiness.

I have a fairly new HP printer and I have plenty of paper in it but it always think it is out.
I adjust the paper but it keeps saying this. Seems to be an ongoing problems. I can hear it drop on to the paper but it doesnt pull it.
Agree with what you did. She could have put looseleaf paper in there, too, though ugly. nm

I have an HP also and have trouble with paper feeding. I get sick of it. I have to keep a big
stack of paper in so it feeds okay. If not it thinks it is out of paper.
AnnieM! I actually READ that in the Bangor paper!
Oh my god what a riot! The Bangor Daily had a whole front-page piece about all the different names for Allens. Wish I could remember them all--one I think was "panty remover" or something along those lines. I guess it's a local thing...same with Boones Farm wine. Being "from away," I only knew of Kahlua, but I guess that's kinda hoity-toity and if you're a dyed-in-the-wool Mainer, ya just drink Allens and milk...reeeeeely light on the milk apparently!

I'm not the one that got the pink roll of toliet paper. . sm
I'm not sure if your question was directed at me or not. I am the one who had an office manager that had a problem with me going to the restroom too many times. She would purposely wait for me to get into the restroom and page me before I could even sit down on the toliet, not really needing me for anything. She just wanted to make others laugh in my work area because they knew where I was. She also counted how many times I went to the bathroom and made sure everyone else knew that I had diarrhea. This all went on behind my back until my friend told me what was going on. Maybe not exactly a hostile work environment but too uncomfortable for me to continue working there. She was in charge of the office, so there really was no one over her to report her to.
What about buying a bottle of 'Liquid Paper 2-in1" -sm
(which is a cool little combination wide brush or pinpoint correction fluid applicator, depending on which cap you take off), then paint the letters back on the keyboard? Then, once the Liquid Paper has dried, paint over it with clear nail polish to protect it from getting worn off.
(Or, like the poster below, if you REALLY want to confuse people, you could always paint the wrong letters on the wrong keys!)
;D
I saw this on Martha Stewart....you pour salt into a paper bag
put the flower head first into the bag upside down, twist the top sorta so salt doesnt fall out and shake it around like shake-n-bake. it breaks up the dust and knocks it off..never have tried it myself though..but sounds like it might work..martha stewart style.
Hey, J, check out today's Parade section in the paper (sm)

For cats I have used contact paper sticky side up. (sm)
They do not like to get their feet all stuck to it. Took twice for the most persistent cat to catch on. Haven't tried it on dogs but seems like it should work as well with them.
I just saw a nice idea in the paper today, for mother's day
There is a scenic ride on a railroad train for a couple of hours, and during that time, they serve dinner on white table cloths, very elegant, like in the old movies. I don't know if your town has this, but this is in Florida and goes across and along a scenic old Florida river. Plus a nice dinner with all the trimmings which is a tad elegant. 19.95 for the whole dinner and fare. Like I said, I don't know even if you have something like this by you, but I saw it in the paper and hoped someone would think of giving me that for mother's day this year :)

Look in the local freebies section of the paper or Craig's list
Sometimes a stove is free or really cheap. Look to see if anyone has one listed under appliances. Next, get a CAT! I have one who loves to mouse. He started when he was just a couple months old. He would rather catch mice than anything else in the world. I have never had a mice problem and I live in the country. Now the only thing is they're very proud of themselves when they do catch one and like to share it with those they love!

I did a lot of research! Basically, I scoured the public notices in the local paper. SM
You know, the ads that say a certain property will be auctioned off on the courthouse steps on a certain day at a certain time. Well, I learned quickly that just because you've read the public notice does not mean the property will actually get sold when advertised. Like the person said below, a lot of times the owners rehab and pay back payments right at the last second. The trustee selling the property is usually an attorney hired by the bank or mortgage company that hold the loan on the property. You can call the attorneys and find out if a propert is still being auctioned off which I did a number of times. Once you find out who holds the mortgage, you can contact the bank or mortgage company directly and make an offer.
For my particular house, it was a waiting game. They actually listed it with a real estate agent and wanted $80,000 when they first listed it. I called the real estate agent they listed with after it had been on the market for about three months. They were asking $60,000 at the time I looked at it. I thought they were crazy cause it was a 2 bedroom that needed a lot of work. Just so happened that at the time I walked through it I was stilling bickering with the insurance company over my settlement, so I wasn't quite ready. Then, three months later I'm at the grocery store (I live in a small town and it is wonderful!) and someone was telling the cashier about a little blue house that had been for sale for a long time and nobody was interested in it because the basement was a cinder block basement which scared people off. Anyway, long story short, the person said they were now asking $45,000 for the house. I had just settled with the insurance company and thought nows my chance to get a great deal!
I called the mortgage company and offered them $36,000. I low-balled because I was prepared to negotiate. They countered with the full asking price. So I countered with a $40,000 cash offer. I said they would be crazy not to take it because I was a cash buyer, didn't have to wait for financing, and didn't require a mechanical inspection. My brother-in-law waterproofs and pours basements for a living. I had him look at the basement and told me that it was a dry basement and he would get a bobcat from work and dig out the dirt around the foundation of the house and waterproof it from the outside and that should make it solid. I have cousings who are trim carpenters and roofers, although the roof was in good shape, no leaks. So I felt safe not having a mechanical inspection especially because I have all this help should something go bad.
The mortgage company decided to sweat me out and didn't give me an answer for two weeks. What they didn't realize is I wasn't sweating because I thought they'd be crazy to pass me up. My waiting paid off. They called the Monday after the 4th of July holiday and said it's yours if you still want and I said "I do."
I bought the house As-Is. Also this was a foreclosed property which means the owners that were foreclosed on cannot rehab the loan and take back the property. It's mine once we close.
So that's how I did it and I can't believe I did do it because I actually felt like I didn't know anything when I started. I just prayed a lot and feel like I had some divine intervention for sure!
Great job! Our local paper had a posting that got 75 resumes, including mine! Love

I didn't phrase that well. I didn't mean to SM
offend. I think I said that to other lady below!
I wouldn't want to be told that myself. I guess you sounded down. Again, if I offended anyone, I'm sorry.
I'm a channel surfer. Last night watched PBS documentary on Kennedy assasination, then PBS show on Dick Cheney. Yuck. Then watched show on stem cell research to cure paralysis. There were two young woman, both with paralysis, who were so inspiring. Watched another segment on Current about blind people using their voices to "see". That had to be seen to be believed. Anyway, positives offset the negative.
Again, sorry if I said anything out of line.
The Mirage in my paper is CHEAP-CHEAP-CHEAP
I didn't say she should sue them. I said that
her sister legally is obligated to pay for it. Me, I would have probably told her I was unhappy with her, learned my lesson and would have moved on.
If I was the sister though, I would have admitted my fault, at least partial fault, and made amends.
Yep, I didn't know that either. Thanks. :) NM
