they will not have a vaccine ready by september. they don't even have a stable DNA sample of this virus.

Vaccine
I know, but lately it just seems the side effects to certain things are cancer. Just give it another 10-20 years, then they'll be saying they shouldn't have recommended it. I personally don't like it or agree with it.
HPV vaccine
I have been saying for months and months that the Gardasil vaccine is a complete hoax. I read articles from leading doctors and pharmacists that said the Gardasil actually increases the risk. Here is an article that I urge everyone to read.

At least now he will be immune. Hope you had hubby don't come down, too, but if so, it doesn't last forever. Just keep him away from others while contagious. And don't let him scratch!
Agree, not everyone gets vaccine
even the physician I worked for put off getting her kids (twins) vaccinated until they went to school, felt it would be better immunity to just get the chicken pox than the vaccine since the vaccine is not 100% effective, etc. But to no avail, try as she might with exposing the kids (twins) to other kids with active chicken pox, they still had to get the vaccine. That's how we did in in my day, about 30 years ago with my son.. when my step-kids got it at school, I invited them to all come on over and play with my four-year old, yep, got them all out of the way at once, before he started school. No vaccines back then. For relief I think we used Benadryl, Aveeno baths, etc, and make a game out of wearing mittens to prevent scratching, etc. Good luck and dump that doc!
Cancer vaccine
I do NOT agree with this either. I lost a daughter to cancer. One thing I learned while she was being treated was that the side effects of the chemo and radiation were cancer. I do not agree with this. This vaccine has not been around long enough to just start making it mandatory and I for one do not like the government making medical decisions for me.
Rattlesnake vaccine
I live in the San Bernardino Mountains in southern California. We have a lot of Western Diamondbacks here. There is a company called Red Rock Biologic that makes a rattlesnake vaccine. They get 2 shots a month apart the first time & after that a booster every year. If they were to get bitten they would still need medical attention but the damage would be much less severe. A vet told me that she treated a vaccinated dog with a rattlesnake bite & all it needed was some steroids; no antivenin required. I have read on Red Rock's website that they have different formulations for different parts of the country, depending on what kind of snakes are prevalent. You might want to ask your vet about this.
Afraid of the vaccine
I'm just afraid of the vaccine, especially if they rush it! I'm pretty sure the 1972 flu was the Hong Kong one. I had that.
vaccine doesn't stop one from getting pox.......sm
as I know it, vaccines don't stop you from getting a disease - vaccines help in that you get a milder case of it, and in this case, chickenpox......

WASHINGTON (AFP) — A top US health official told lawmakers that vaccines against seasonal flu likely to not protect against swine flu and that a vaccine against that deadly disease cannot be ready before September.
"If everything went great, production could lead to availability as early as September," Anne Schuchat, acting deputy director for science and public health program at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
But "everything doesn't always go great," she warned the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.
Schuchat said there were "active efforts" to prepare for making the vaccine, but, when asked whether it would definitely be made, replied: "I don't believe that decision has been made yet."
Schuchat warned that scientists did not believe that vaccines against seasonal influenza, which kills 36,000 people each year, would protect against the "novel" virus now making headlines.
"We don't expect there to be protection," she said. "Based on the laboratory testing that's been done so far, we don't expect there to be cross-protection."
Asked why experts worried about swine flu given the annual havoc wreaked by regular, seasonal influenza, Schuchat said "we are dealing with a novel virus" and that the general population had not built up resistance to the illness.
"It's a virus that hasn't been around before," she said. "The general population doesn't have immunity to this virus. With seasonal flu, a good proportion of the population has some immunity."
