never thought of that, and would not be surprised if that was it, she's pretty filthy. Dollars to donuts that was why she shaved the other *hair* LOL!

Another tip on the lice

Put all dolls, stuffed animals that cannot be washed in garbage bags tied shut for at least 2 weeks.  Make sure and wash pillows, blankets, bedspreads, combs, brushes, hair bows, clips, barettes, pony tail holders, etc.  Wash any jackets they've recenty worn.  Spray all upholstered furniture and mattresses and air out, then vacuum thoroughly!  Vacuum carpet.  Spray and vacuum your vehicle, too.  The little critters are tenacious!

Been there, done that, shoulda had a T-shirt!!!  I feel for you!!

lice
My kids got headlice a couple of years ago. Everything I read said that getting it has nothing to do with how clean you keep yourself and nothing can prevent it other than avoiding close contact with someone else who has it or avoiding having coats hung close together. Since both of those happen at school there is really nothing you can do to prevent it and just have to keep a close eye out for it so if one kid does get it it doesn't spread to the rest of the family and it's easier to get rid of before it reproduces. Some people want to wash regularly with lice shampoo as a preventative measure but supposedly that would be toxic to you if you used it regularly.
Has anyone ever used Vasoline to get rid of lice? If so, sm

The girl that cuts our hair suggested we use Vasoline on our three daughters to get rid of the lice. I used that, but am having a hard time getting the Vasoline out!! I tried using Dawn dish soap to cut through the greese. That helped some. I also read that peanut butter will get it out...so we used that also! This all worked fine on my daughter with fine, thin hair, but my other two have very thick hair and it is not helping them! Please help if you have any ideas or if you have ever done this treatment! Thanks!!

Any advice for lice? - sm
My kids came home with this almost 2 months ago, got rid of them (I think---all 4 of us had them and 3 of us are clean now), but 2 weeks ago my older daughter had a new outbreak. I have treated 3-4 x with Rid and Nix (Nix the second time around per doctor), olive oil, and listerine/vinegar.  Called the doctor again last night begging for the prescription (they don't want to give it unless all other remedies fail) after I found 2 live lice on her head, an adult male and female, lucky me.  My daugher's head appears to be nit free, though she does have a lot of dandruff now between the lice making it and the poisons I have put on her head.  Now the doctor wants me to try 50:50 of mineral oil and vinegar. I could not do it last night as I had already had her wash her hair after I found the 2 lice (did Nix again last night). I am so sick of these things.  I have washed, and washed, and washed, vacuumed, etc. until I never want to wash or vacuum another thing in my life.  My kids stuffed animals, etc. have been bagged up in the garage now for 8 weeks.....never undid them luckily....so at least I had a little less to do this time.  ----the other thing that tics me off is the girl next to my daugher on the bus has them too, probably from mine but who knows, and the policy is that the child has to contain their hair for a week or two until the nurse declares her clean.  This girl is not pulling her hair back in a ponytail because she does not like them.  I complained to the nurse once, and am doing so again today.  So that probably is not going to change so I had the bus driver move my daughter today from that seat....they sit 3 to a seat and they are mashed together, hence easy transfer of a bug crawling from one head to another. My daughter was not happy about it, but this other girls mother is convince they are "cured" as she put listerine on her daughter's head and said she is fine now.  If one time fixed it then lice would not be such a problem.  I really think this lady is in LA la land considering the trouble I am having, and I have combed, and combed too, so I am not doing the half-assssseeedddd either.  So does anyone have anything that they swear by?  I know I could make my kid go to bed with mayo on her head for 10 days straight and that would in theory eradicate them, or any smothering agent, and it may come to that, but if anyone has anything else, please feel free to tell!
No. I have heard that lice do not like
coconut scented shampoo, but I don't know of one that prevents it.
Getting rid of lice without the medicated stuff

My daughter also developed an allergy after multiple treatments (we finally found out that they had infested the rug in the reading area).  My grandmother told me that before they had those shampoos this is what they did.

My mother says mayonaise works but I was at my wits end so I went all out.

On Friday night I washed my daughters hair (which was down to her butt)

We then took Vaseline and worked it into her hair. making sure that every bit of her hair was covered.  Sounds gross I know.  We then braided the back of her hair and stuck it in a sock,  We then fashioned a kerchief over her head to keep it all covered.  We left it this way until Saturday evening ( we made a day of it watching movies ordered pizza played board games to keep her mind off of it).

On Satuday evening we took Dawn dishwashing liquid and washed her hair a couple of times.  The combed the nits out.  Nothing was alive.

Her hair was a little oily for a day or two but we washed it each night with a shampoo for oily hair.  It worked great.

Also for the rest of the school year we have problems with other kids never really getting rid of their lice but she never got them again but per G-ma's advice she did not go to school with her hair loose the rest of the year.  It was always neatly french braided with some styling gel over it to hold it and I was told that the gel also deterred the lice.

Good luck feel free to message me if you have any questions

I tell you what shampoo WILL prevent lice...sm
At Sally's the generic Paul Mitchell's tea tree oil shampoo. Tea Tree Oil kills lice so if you shampoo with it it prevents them. It is not a lice killer it is just regular shampoo. It smells a lot like peppermint to me. I used it when my son started kindergarden because I didn't want him to get lice. Kids in his clss had it and he never got it. It is a little expensive but worth it to me.
Lice can't be smothered! You have to kill them. Get the Rid or the Nix or whatever. Any critters

I have been told that lice don't like dirty hair - sm
and when there is an outbreak at school to use mousse in the hair as it is sticky, etc. and the lice don't like it. Don't know if it is true but it makes some sense, though if this girl is always dirty and still has lice (especially if they like clean heads) then that kind of makes no sense. I am not sure of our schools policy but I think it is one where the kid is not allowed back until they can prove they don't have it any longer. So far we have had no lice reports this year, had about 3 last year. My DH has a cow over them and I tell my girls not to share hats, combs, brushes, etc. , and when we have the lice scares I use mousse on them for a week or so. So far so good. ---One solution they could do for the girl is to shave her head, no hair, no lice, though it is a drastic solution but I know a family that did that as they had a strain of resistant lice that just would not go away no matter what they did.
how ignorant to compare lice with neglect.
It's merely a case of misinformation or improper education to her family on how to treat the problem, in no way is lice infestation and lack of getting rid of them completely a sign of neglect.

Maybe this mom just plain doesn't understand how to get rid of them completely or perhaps there are other things going on in her life that this isn't getting dealt with properly. They need support not ridicule as some of the posters have said - obviously since you've been there you should know it isn't as easy as people think to get rid of them.
I've never heard that it prevents lice. That's a new one to me.
I always thought that children's shampoos were marketed saying that they didn't sting the eyes. I never found that to be true, however. Johnson's Baby Shampoo stings my eyes. Some contain detanglers, but I had boys who always had short hair, so that wasn't an issue for us. From the time they were babies until now, I've always bought whatever was on sale or least expensive. Most times, that turns out to be Suave.
Lice prevention -- distilled white vinegar (sm)
After shampooing, rinse hair with 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and water, protecting eyes.

My mom used this prevention faithfully on all of us and none of us ever had lice infestation, just shiny hair.

make sure you use a "metal" lice comb, not a plastic one as they don't work well. nm

about checking BC pills will probably draw a lot of fire about teenage sex, etc. However, my daughter's 17-year-old friend just had a baby 3 weeks ago. They had unprotected sex ONCE and she got pregnant. This was a very smart girl, ranked #1 in the class academically, churchgoer, not a drinker, no drugs. She is now missing out on her senior year and all the hoopla, taking classes at home to get her diploma, and raising a baby. It is too late to say she should have abstained, this is the reality of the situation and all concerned are making the best of it. So I say keep checking those BC pills, Mom!
about the comment
I lived in a trailer park for 11 years, and to those who felt offense, I apologize. I know from first-hand experience that not everyone who lives in a trailer or a trailer park is trashy, but there are enough that someone created the saying. This neighbor happens to fit whatever criteria associated with the comment. I didn't live trashy when I lived in trailers, or any apartment I've been in, or in any home, either. It's an attitude and lifestyle that fits the comment...not everyone fits the comment.
Oh, by the way, add to your comment here
The "preachers kids are always the very worst!" You have heard that I am sure.

Well, guess what I am married to a Pastor, I am a Pastor's wife and these are my children who we are talking about. So I guess you can add that to your list of gripes. LOL.
Thank you for you comment.......sm
and I wish you all the best.
People who think that they can deliberately destroy their lives, are inconsiderate, selfish and unthankful towards people who love them.
Self-destruction is a sin, because it is a slow suicide.
Whenever she makes a comment that you
suspect is made as a dig, try smiling pleasantly and saying, "What?" and waiting for a reply. If she is trying to be mean and trying to slip it by everybody else, she may not be willing to explain what she meant. If you do it every time, not quite hearing or understanding those comments, you will tire her out because her zing didn't hit.
That's what I am looking for- opinions from others. Thank you for your comment.
:)
Your comment about an old HS bad apple -
made me laugh, reminds me of a guy I went to school. He used to sell T-shirts at concerts (the fake one's, not put out by the performer/band); was high most of the time; now he is a copyright attorney - talk about ironic.
Was the flea comment really necessary?

Another comment about harnesses
Our neighbor was walking his dog with just a collar and leash. The dog was so hyper it it jumped and in the process broke his neck. If he had a harness on this would not have happened. It was totally heartbreaking.
do not let him anger you with this comment
he feels this way because you make more money than him, and after that comment, I would calmly and confidently remind him of that whenever you need to, maybe daily. Also, sit his dumb___ down and make him type one sentence of a hard provider, then calmly and confidently talk down to him and tell him he would never be able to do your job. Calm and confident. Do not ever again let him make you feel that way.
I don't understand the comment
"knowing the girls these days" can you elaborate?
I understand the comment very well
I think a lot of girls now completely out there with their dressing, suggestiveness, forwardness, aggressiveness. I guess trying to keep up with the guys. When you see a prison population go from mostly male to more females than ever, does that not tell you something?
I understood the comment, too
That's why I thought it was offensive.
Your aunt's comment....
''well, the doctors really do not want you to tell them what you think it is or what to do for any ailments.''

I don't understand why you are upset; she was talking about the doctors, not you, and her comment was pretty much right on. Unless I am misunderstanding.

I have some problems, probably fibro or a rheumatoid thing, and am going to doctors now for a workup. I do a LOT of research and I know a lot. But, in my experience so far, if you tell a doctor what you think it is, most will do everything in their power to prove you wrong or will just say no, if they don't think of it first. It's called arrogance and yes a holier than thou attitide.

So I guess I don't understand why this upset you.
Comment on Alli
I'm 45 and started Alli the weekend it came out in mid-June. I weighed about 185 at the time. This morning, I weighed 163. It's been a slow, steady loss. I haven't had any of the "treatment effects" that are talked about with Alli. Just the threat of those treatment effects if you eat too much fat and take Alli are enough... it teaches you to watch your fat grams, which makes you also reduce calories. I haven't felt deprived in the least, but I've learned to eat healthier, less fat, smaller portions. I've been using Lean Cuisine or Smart Ones for my quickie meals, and eating lots of rice, veggies, fruit, whole grains, lean meats. I have lost 20 plus pounds doing Atkins in the past, but gained it all back plus about 10 more. Over the winter, I was the highest ever.. up at about what I was when 9 months pregnant! I feel so much better right now, and I feel confident that when this bottle of Alli runs out, I probably could go without because in these 3 months I've developed habits that I can stick with. Good luck!
What a strange comment.
You were able to discern that from my post? I find THAT strange!

Actually, your assumptions are quite wrong.

I will say a prayer for you, that God may grace you with wisdom and patience.
why the comment about the jocks? nm
!
I had to laugh at this comment sm
when my hubby and I saw her on the TV I just said "Well she obviously doesn't have any friends....cause a true friend would tell her how terrible her eyebrows look."
Very moving - see comment
Very moving, touching, sad, proud, thankful, greatful. There are not enough words to thank all the soldiers fighting for us. I was in the miliary some years ago and this brings back so many memories of why I joined. I can't thank enough these people who fight for our freedom and for freedom for others. I still have a lump in my throat from watching this video. What a wonderful tribute to the soldiers this 15-year-old did in making this.
Probably because that's a stupid comment?

Too bad this wasn't your first comment
to her instead of the rudeness above.
barefoot comment
Did a foot doc tell you that's why your arches fell? My foot doc told me years ago the best thing you can always do is go barefoot when you can and otherwise wear ballet type slippers around the house and flats otherwise. She said women have ruined their feet with heels (I know my mom did.) I'm 65 and am barefoot in the house almost all the time. Hope you footsies stay comfy, though!
I bet this is a comment of Mr,. TechSupport himself...nm

that's a really weird comment...nm

I did. My original comment was about how my son enjoys
candles. Your very next post in response to mine included the makeup, nail polish and other. I really just didn't understand how liking candles had anything to do with the use of obviously feminine products.
uhhh...did you read the OP's comment??
She said the dog was BARKING at people passing by! How is this "minding her own business?" You are the one who needs a lesson in manners lady. It is extremely rude to bring an animal into a store where other people are trying to mind their own business and shop, especially with a dog that BARKS at people!!
I can't believe all of you are upset about the police comment...
but not that she will be sent to a "meaner mom and dad". lol Priceless and typical.

To me, no biggie. Plus I don't particularly like cops ;)

Poster was having a moment. There is far worse people say and do to kids. And that can be turned around, easily. Geez.

I too found that comment funny..sm
After all, she doesn't live in a bubble.  You play, you pay...poor baby (the unborn one, that is)...
Hey now watch that fattest comment :)
Adia has often been compared to a mancoon. She is not really very large though even though others say she reminds them of a racoon or a beaver, she sort of slinks when she runs. She is kind of petite, with little short legs and small head, but chubby, weighing at 14.8 pounds as of today. What is a fisher, all I could think of was a king fisher.

Thanks for the kind words on the spread. Really loved the look of it, but baby it was hot hot hot, and forget it when the kids puked on it. It would be perfect for you in Maine. Love love Love purple, my favorite pillows thanks.

Surgery will be around $700, pull that one out of my @@#$ss somehow. Hopefully get good tax return, just hope I am making the right decision. He said mainy because she is young and large, that she would benefit from this surgery, especially down the road when she ages to offset the arthritis. Thanks so much for your kind thoughts. You rock Hayseed. Artsy fartsy picture of my beloved below.
No; the burp comment was random.
I can't believe somebody came on here to lecture us on proper horse terminology and then bragged about her wealth as if we were to bow to her "superiority." She actually gave us a scolding. What a way to drop in for a visit!
This is a very inappropriate and wrong comment, why do you say this?..nm

Reading the first comment on this Youtube
We need more of this today. The generation of MTV'ers and Xbox'ers is a pathetic spectacle.

Watched a few seconds but manners we learned from our parents and grandparents. It was a wonderful time to be raised, totally unlike today. I would not trade my younger years for anything, such a glorious time. Hey, these golden years are turning out about the same. Don't hate on what you apparently missed out on.
