I have relatives like this....had relatives like this. You can't separate it out, that is the way they operate. They get to treat you anyway they want because they have paid for the priviledge, and it doesn't matter how much money, it could be 10 bucks for your birthday, let alone a furnace. If you stand up to her, you will never see one thin dime again, ever. If she is worth a million and you are her favorite relative, I would make sure that she was not going to live so much longer as to spend all of it on herself or be too big of a burden on your family, because you might get burned on your gamble to inherit, especially with stepkids circling.
