No, I think that is inappropriate SM
Even worse my son's first grade teacher told me son, "Angels aren't real." Fine...she doesn't believe (whatever), but she most certainly did NOT have to tell my son that Angels are not real!! We happen to practice a Christian faith, and we believe...and for her--an authority figure in his life and someone he would believe without question--to tell my son otherwise infuriated me. This was also the school that would not sing "We wish you a Merry Christmas" at their "winter program" and instead sang, "We Wish you a Merry Winter Solstice." Ohmygosh! Better to leave the song OUT of their program than to turn it into something pagan (sorry to offend those of you who are pagan, but I imagine if the situation were opposite and we changed one of your songs you wouldn't like it either).
Oh well...I guess all you can do is just openly speak to your kids and explain that some kids (and adults) believe and some don't. My 3rd grade son believes in Santa about 50 percent I would say...leaning toward not believing...but it is just something fun for kids, ya know?
I'm sorry about this!

Is it inappropriate to ask someone (sm)
I have been seeing a man for a little over a year. During this time he has had financial issues and I have given him money without expecting it to be returned. Recently his financial issues got worse and I was not in a position to help. Now he is telling me that he "has money coming to" him but he doesn't say from where. It is almost like he is specifically avoiding saying from where. Normally I would not ask anyone about their finances, but he has never had a problem with telling me he had financial problems and taking money from me, but now that I could not help him, he is getting it from somewhere and not saying where. It makes me wonder if it is from another woman. Am I being paranoid? Should I come right out and ask or is it just none of my business?
That's inappropriate.
How about when you are pregnant and tell them you don't want to know the gender - then they proceed to say "she" throughout the rest of visit when referencing your baby.
What's inappropriate to some...
is dead on the money for others. Some become uncomfortable when posts hit close to home, resulting in bashing of others. In a nutshell, we don't live above our means, we have a very nice lifestyle and we live debt free by choice. I think that is the American dream, not working at a job you hate, being in debt up to your eyeballs with no way out and still buying things you just gotta have now and living hand to mouth. There are others out there who agree with me, believe it or not. A lot of you here just wallow in your self-pity and poor me attitudes. No wonder the other board is so much better, there are positive attitudes over there.
Looking for inappropriate comments? I don't think so! (sm)
Okay......and thanks for your input. I am the OP and I just want for you to know that I think that your comment was a little on the ignorant side. "I am not soooo appalled." I was a little shocked that he cared so much to go out of his way to make sure I found the right size bra. (He walked away from his job to come over to the checkout counter that I was at and felt the need to ask that, even though I was being checked out by a female clerk that was fully capable of making sure that I found what I needed?) Even the female clerk looked at him and said "What are you talking about?" I told her about the bra I returned to his service desk an hour earlier and she said "He is weird. That is none of his business!"
For the record, I receive male attention frequently and I am not easily offended or overly prudish when comments are made to me. This on the other hand was a bit strange.
My intentions were to ask others if they would consider this question to be inappropriate or not if they had been asked the same question under the same circumstances. I am not playing 'poor victim' here as I consider this a minor incident (yet still inappropriate).
In my opinion, it sounds to me like you don't get many comments offered to you and perhaps you would welcome them if you did? (That's what I get from your comment anyways!)
Totally inappropriate.
He sounds like he's good at his job and also at flirting. He is interested in getting to know you better? Why doesn't he just come out and say - hey baby, how about a roll in the hay? Keep us posted if you pursue this. I'd like to know how things go. Believe me, he knows he's good looking. Good Luck and be careful.
"Did you find one that fit" is inappropriate? I don't think so.
x
You are totally correct and it was inappropriate.
Don't listen to the obviously ignorant posters. First of all, this is a bra were are talking about. He went out of his way to come over to make that comment to you. He later told you he thought you were pretty and may have been "overly friendly" to you. And even the girl at the counter said, "he's weird, why would he ask you that", totally confirming the fact that it was indeed inappropriate and uncomfortable. I don't know if I would do anything about it, but just know some of us do not think you are overreacting or seeking attention and you are 100% right in your feelings of being violated. Some of the others probably can only wish this happened to them if you get my drift.
Totally inappropriate, but I think I would probably ignore it.

In some areas of the country it isn't really inappropriate sm
Not to be disagreeable but where I live a simple kiss on the cheek is pretty normal when meeting someone, etc. So perhaps it is a more common thing where that person is from and therefore there may have been no ulterior motive behind it. I recently went to my brother's wedding and quickly realized that not everyone wanted a kiss on the cheek when I gave them their lei at the luau party - though it is custom here.
I would do it right back, all the time in inappropriate - sm
situations. Give his crotch a grab and squeeze, or pinch his butt, etc.....and I would do it in front of others and see how he likes being treated as a piece of meat. Of course if you do this when no one is around he will take it as in invitation so this approach does have its down side. If he persists, then I would just slap him or his hands until he cuts it out.
your opinion is again inappropriate, as you do not support yourself.

This is a very inappropriate and wrong comment, why do you say this?..nm
nm
That is just mean. I'm not defending inappropriate clothing sm
but your nasty little comment is mean for no reason at all. Don't overweight people face enough trials in their lives w/o someone like you making "big panties" comments?
thank you, anon. And this, Philly, is why your posts are inappropriate.

Listen if small children tell you someone is inappropriate
The majority of the time- the majority- little children are not going to say someone touched them inappropriately or such thing sexual unless it is happening or has happened- they just do not. Listen and learn from the children.
What? Gays are not allowed to have fun? SM
Is Disney World or whatever only for heteros? Sad.
Are we not allowed to say the D word or something?
lol! Even the new pizza hut commercial disses both Domino's and Papa Johns - have you seen it? Hysterical. Have to say that Pizza Hut does take the prize for best pizza, hands down IMO.
As far as I know, doctors are allowed to do this
in certain states, but they still need the approval of the nearest relatives.
They do this if somebody is terminally ill and the patient himself expresses the wish that their life should be ended.
I'm pretty sure it is allowed - my mom is retired but (sm)
She is still on my stepfather's insurance and not Medicare. I don't think it is required at all. You may be able to use it as secondary, though, I don't know. http://questions.medicare.gov/cgi-bin/medicare.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?
As an IC, I don't think they are allowed to have you on a set schedule. Other companies have
gotten in legal trouble because they were treating ICs as employees. With my IC job, I let them know when I can work and, if they need extra help, they will call and ask if I can do more, but they do not TELL me when to work.
She ALLOWED it to happen. She signed for it.
She's no saint nor even a decent parent to not stand up for her child.
What a bunch of crap.
Mine were not allowed to come to my house as much
as the other grandparents because they wanted to (at a very young age) go directly to my work room with all the wires running all over the floor, computers that belonged to the hospital, not my equipment and their mother got bent out of shape that I tried to keep them out of that particular room, telling me they could do anything at her mother's house, hello guess so her mother never even had a job and had plenty of time to run after them and clean up behind them. This can go either way!!

Should he be allowed to keep the Bible on his desk?
Apparently, it's just sitting there. He's not teaching from it.
A Mount Vernon science teacher said yesterday that he will refuse to remove a Bible from his classroom desk, despite his school district's order.
"Thousands of citizens in this community have built their lives on deeply held religious convictions, and it is for them that I stand today," John Freshwater, 51, who teaches at Mount Vernon Middle School, said in a news release.
The religious activist Dave Daubenmire, Freshwater's friend, acted as his spokesman yesterday. "This is not a religion issue; this is a free-speech issue," Daubenmire said. "He didn't take the Bible to read to anybody."
Mount Vernon Superintendent Steve Short said Freshwater's characterization of the events leading to the district order that he remove religious items from his classroom was "not entirely accurate," but Short wouldn't elaborate.
The district later released a one-paragraph statement saying that district officials don't oppose religion but are required "under the First Amendment of the United States Constitution to protect against the establishment of religion in the schools. As a public school system the district cannot teach, promote or favor any religion or religious beliefs."
Freshwater and Daubenmire believe that separation of church and state "is a fraud" and that the framers of the Constitution never intended it to be practiced the way it is today, Daubenmire said.
The district asked Freshwater last week to remove the Ten Commandments from the door to his classroom and remove the Bible from the view of students. About 3,900 students attend Mount Vernon schools. Mount Vernon is about 52 miles northeast of Columbus.
Freshwater took down the Ten Commandments but decided that being prevented from taking a Bible into the classroom was going too far.
In the past, Freshwater has taught his students about the "holes in evolution" and intelligent design, the theory that a supernatural power created complex forms of life, Daubenmire said.
"Would our government ask a follower of Islam to remove her burqa in order to teach school?" Freshwater said in his written statement. "Would we ask a science teacher to remove The Origin of Species from his desk merely because the origin of man has never been proven?
"I cannot with a clear conscience follow a directive that makes religion and the religious viewpoint any less credible by those who deem themselves more enlightened."
Freshwater wouldn't answer questions directly because of the likelihood he will file a lawsuit charging "viewpoint discrimination," Daubenmire said.
Daubenmire is the former London High School football coach whose district was sued in 1999 by the American Civil Liberties Union because he led his players in prayer at games, practices and meetings. The district settled out of court, and its insurance company paid the ACLU $18,000 for court costs.
no letter p was allowed on this street
When my dd was first learning her alphabet we were driving down the street
one day and she asks me why no letter p was allowed on this street. It took me a minute to realize she was talking about a no parking sign.
Are they adults? No. R-rate means under 17 not allowed. sm
Easy answer.
I was allowed to have guy friends stay overnight BUT -sm
they could not sleep in my room with me. They were welcome to crash on the couch. My parents knew I was having sex with them but it was their house and their rules. I never really had a problem with it and plan to do the same with my 2 girls.
Animals not allowed to roam where we live
by the rules in our community and my cats are indoor ALWAYS - that does not mean others keep theirs in. I tried to rescue a squirrel the cat next door caught in front of my home so they would turn the squirrel loose and the other day a Great Dane (apparently in heat) came into my yard and then the dog next door came over to try to romance that one. I really, really hate to see animals out anywhere - oh the other day was told we have coyates (sp?) in the neighborhood and be sure not to let animals out- 1 lady found only tufts of hair and collar from cat apparently killed them them. I usually am trying to feed strays when I see them.
Not allowed to swim at Disney "beaches" though
They have little man-made beaches at some of the resorts, but you are not allowed to swim in the water. Stayed at several places at Disney... Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Caribbean Beach, Coronado, Dixie Landings, Dolphin/Swan... and it's the same at all. You can play in the sand, but you have to use the pools.
they are not allowed in miami-dade county
Pit bulls are either not allowed in Miami-Dade County in Florida but I heard something about having $600,000 insurance if you own one.....but that COULD be Broward County where they are allowed. I'm in Miami.
If I allowed my daughter to have a live in boyfriend I would at least
have put her on Depo. What did she think was gonna happen?
p.s.--he's NINTEEN!!
I tried to post a couple but wasn't allowed....
The words on here are vulgar compared to the ones I had. It is a real doctor's name. How do I post like everyone else?
If you rent, it may not be allowed. Rotties, pits,
dobermans, chows, and german shepards are often on landlords 'not allowed' lists, for liability reasons.
I'm a dog-person, and have known quite a few rotts, and none of them were friendly to anyone but their master.
I think one of the best choices for a 'first big dog' would be a labrador retriever. Laid-back, not as barky, usually love everyone, great family dogs, yet big enough to possibly deter a burglar.

Not so much our moms as we just try to teach
xx
Well, that'll really teach her...
A lesson won't it now? I mean being confined to a mansion with servants, cooks, etc., and nothing to do all day but swim, tan, whatever else she does...wow, talk about injustice...amazing
For me, it comes from not having anyone to teach you your worth when you are a kid (sm)
My husband was not nice even when we are dating. I had not been taught that I deserved to be treated with respect. Now you may say I am teaching my daughter the same thing - however, I'm not. I make sure that if she or my son see my husband treat me disrespectfully that I respond, in a respectful way to him that that is an inappropriate way for him to talk to me. I am still however, stuck with making a decision over what is better for the children. Sometimes these men who are bad husbands are not such bad fathers. It's a hard decision - not as easy as typing "just leave" on a message board.
Most people teach
their children Santa is an actual entity, not the spirit of Christmas.
My mom told me there was a St. Nicholas who gave to others and that "Santa" was just a way to replicate the wonderful intention of St. Nicholas.
Most people, including myself, lead their children to believe he is a real being, and it can be very disheartening when they find out it is not true.
Any thoughts on that specifically ... anyone?
Their parents don't teach them
and also, they don't get those classes at school. I guess also I was fortunate in that my mother was a tailor and dressmaker and I used to help her with finishing clothes; buttons, etc.
It is such a disposable society today also. If it is broken, don't fix it but toss it out and buy something new. With the economy the way it is, possibly that might change.
well I figure if I don't teach them sm
they won't get it when they have to get out in the real world. If they are not going to school and want to live with you why should you pay all their bills?
BTW, what I did was put half of what they gave me away and when they left home I had a nice little nest egg to give back to them to get them started. But they didn't know I was doing that until the time came for them to move out.
In this economy it is very expensive to pay for everyones groceries, laundry soap, etc. I think its a disservice not to require something. Maybe not half or even a quarter, but something! I don't want anyone to wind up like my niece at 45 with no responsibility at all and living off her widowed mother and her fixed income while making 30 bucks an hour herself plus overtime and spending it as fast as she can. Oh yes this is also in the state with the worst economy in the nation..Michigan! But then I guess she thinks she is entitled.
How dare you call me ludicrous for my convictions! Get lost. I am allowed to believe how I wish.

Should smoking ONLY be allowed in private single family homes
March 14, 2007— Dozens packed the Belmont (California) city council chambers tonight for the first public airing of a new smoking ban proposal.
The law would give Belmont the toughest smoking ban in the nation — possibly in the world.
The crackdown aims to curb the harmful effects of second-hand smoke by preventing puffs not just in parks and around public buildings — but in private apartments and city streets as well. If the law passes, the only places left in Belmont to smoke would be single family homes and private cars.
Mayor Coralin Feierbach says the proposal was made to protect residents who suffer from health problems aggravated by smoke. The council didn't take action tonight. It's just the first of several meetings to discuss the proposal.
Maybe you shouldn't take any.
Curious as to why you listed biracial up there. What does that have to do with anything?
It doesn't sound like you really want any of them. Maybe foster care where someone wants to take of them would be a better place.
Illegal.
