1 can crushed pineapple
1 yellow cake mix (dry)
1 cup chopped nuts
2 sticks butter, melted
Spread pie filling in 11/13 pan. Pour pineapple on top and spread. Take dry cake mix and spread over pineapple. Top with nuts and coconut if desired. Pour 2 sticks melted butter on top of all of this. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
This is scrumptious.

Does anyone have a good turkey recipe?? SM
Due to last week's turn of events I'm having turkey day at my house with my husband and kids. I've never cooked a turkey before. I have a very large slow cooker/roaster I've never used before and would like to cook it in there. What kid of spices do you put on it. I've got the stuffing taken care of, but am not sure what to do with the outside of the turkey. I'd like it to have some special flavoring if possible.
TIA for the ideas.
That sounds so good. Thanks for the recipe. NM
Here I've lived in Texas most of my life and never made homemade chili pie. This sounds delicious, and I will definitely write down that recipe! Thanks again for sharing!
I have had this and it is very good! Another toffee recipe...
1 pound of butter, one pound of brown sugar, 1 tablespoon of vanilla and 1 bag of chocolate chips. (nuts if you want).
If you want some sort of nuts, place in bottom of cookie sheet with raised sides before starting.
Heat butter until melted and add brown sugar and vanilla. Heat on stove to hard crack stage--if you do not have a candy thermometer (like me) put cold water in a cup and drip a little in to check and see if it is ready. When it is crunchy, it is done. Pour into cookie sheet and scatter chocolate chips over the top. They will melt and you can spread them like in the recipe above.
allrecipes.com is a good recipe site sm
We make roast beef in the crock pot a lot - just cut up whatever veggies you like, put them on the bottom, add the roast beef on top, then you can either put 1 cup of beef bouillon or you can use Lipton's onion soup according to the directions. Or substitute burgundy or another red wine for half the liquid. Yummy!
anyone have a recipe for fondant that tastes good? sm
I love to make cakes decorated with fondant but the store-bought kind doesn't taste too good and the consistency is kind of sticky. I know some people make their own and would love to know how to make a good fondant that tastes good and works well - shiny would be great! Anyone know? Thanks

Pitiful union busters. Wal-Mart offers absolutely no respect to their workers, and obviously no screening that covers use of at least understable exchange of language context and grammar...tsk, tsk.

I hope that the purposeful mistakes in my last post were caught, unlike the cake that the poor lady received.
It is "understandable" and "its" with reference to Wal-Mart.
Thanks for the vent.

If the recipe asked for canned pureeed carrots the canned it should be. I am sure the recipe made allowances for the salt
Wal-mart Cake
Keep in mind this actually really did happen!!!! This is someone who was moving from a claims office. Okay so this is how I imagine this conversation went: Walmart Employee: "Hello 'dis Walmart, how can I help you?" Customer: " I would like to order a cake for a going away party this week." Walmart Employee: "What you want on the cake?" Customer: "Best Wishes Suzanne" and underneath that "We will miss you". Walmart Employee: "Dat all? Okay, Bye."
Cheeseburger cake??
I am having a surprise 40th jimmy buffett theme party for my husband on saturday. Does anyone have any idea how to decorate a cake to make it look like a cheeseburger? what kind of things would i use, i.e, fondant, etc. I have a general idea of yellow/chocolate cake but all I can find online is pictures of a cake but not how to actually construct it.
THanks for your help!
Coffee cake
Has anyone here ever made homemade coffee cake? Would you mind sharing the recipe?
Do you have a yellow cake mix?
You could do a pineapple upside down cake. Add about 5 tablespoons melted butter and 1/2 cup brown sugar to the pineapple. Spread on the bottom of a well-greased baking dish, pour the cake batter over it. You could even go crazy and add a dash of rum to the pineapple before you bake it.
dumb ? but would the dry cake sm
mixture recipe work with canned pumpkin pie mix? Love pumpkin, have cans of one-pie and a can of crushed pineapple w/the cake mix. Sounds like it would be very "mush". Just thought I'd ask!

Heath bar coffee cake. YUM.
I bake and take a coffee cake to brunches or friends that is so simple and you can do a recipe search for Heath Bar Coffee Cake. I use the powdered buttermilk in the recipe and works just fine. Not complicated at all and SO good.

My husband is a big baby. I was working full time at an insurance company. I had my surgery the day after Thanksgiving. I was home by 10 AM feeding the baby (not my husband) in the high chair because my husband had to run to the store for stuff we needed. Not a big deal. Didn't hurt, woke up from anesthesia quickly.

the cake sounds like so much fun. She is going to be so excited. I wish Cupid and I could celebrate with you and Tyne! How cool is that to have that doggie shop next to you! I want to move where you are! We used to have one at the mall before I moved here in Ohio but they closed it. How did she get so spoiled? I asked myself that all the time about Cupid! LOL! She is lucky to have someone like you!
Are you okay now? Did the guy get the bat? I know exactly how you feel! I was living in NC a few years back and one night a bat flew out of nowhere through the room and Cupid and Lexi (my exboyfriend's dog) booked out of there! Luckily he came home a few minutes after and he did not believe me that there was a bat in the house, and then he went in and said oh wow, there is a bat! he tended to take what I said in one ear and out the other! Let me know how you do! Was Tyne there while you were gone?
The cake decorator put the words "underneath" sm
because someone wanted "We'll Miss You" underneath Suzanne's name. She wasn't supposed to put underneath on the cake! Plus, it's spelled wrong! LOL HAHAHAHA

The 5-minute Chocolate Cake for 1 Person
The person who sent me this says it really works.
5-MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE
4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
A small splash of vanilla extract
1 large coffee mug (microwave-safe)
Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again. Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts. The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired. EAT!

did you know, if you eat a wintogreen lifesaver and then drink pop - the pop tastes like beer!
I'm getting ready to make a boxed cake mix, but I'm out of veggie oil
Can I substitute melted margarine for the oil? I don't have any applesauce. I do have some Miracle Whip, but wasn't sure about it. I don't want to go to the grocery store. I'm at home alone, kids are gone, I'm working and feeling pretty productive, and then BAM the PMS chocolate attack strikes and and me without a Hershey bar in sight! So I thought I would whip up a devil's food cake mix and get back to work.
Does anyone make a fruit cake for holiday giving or are you blessed

They say that, but all of us as kids licked the bowl/spoon/beaters from cake
mixes and no one I know ever got sick.
Dessert? I'm making a Tres Leches cake for the 24th! yummy.
This is fairly easy to make. Some people just make a regular yellow cake from the box, ie. Betty Crocker or Haines. I like more the homemade taste.
Cream Cake (Tres Leches)
Yield: 10 to 12 servings
Ingredients:
The Cake: 3 eggs 1 cup sugar ¼ cup milk 1 cup all-purpose pour 1½ teaspoons baking powder 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
The Cream Filling: 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk 1 can (12 ounces) evaporated milk 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
The Frosting: 1 cup whipping cream
Method:
The Cake: Preheat oven to 350ºF. Separate the eggs. Beat the egg whites unti1 fluffy. Add the sugar gradually and mix well. Blend in the egg yolks, one at a time. Alternately blend in the milk, flour, and baking powder. Add the vanilla and blend well. Pour into a greased, square baking pan, and bake 45 minutes or until a knife inserted in the cake comes out clean. Remove the cake from the oven and pierce it with a fork, making little holes evenly over the surface. Set aside to cool.
The Cream Filling: In a large bowl, mix condensed milk, evaporated milk, and vanilla extract until well blended. Slowly pour the mixture over the top of the cake.
The Frosting: Beat whipping cream until stiff. Spread over cake.
Put in the frig and serve cold. Some people do add liquor to taste, such as brandy or rum.
