I never brush my dog's teeth
I have an 8-year-old German Shepherd, and I have never brushed her teeth, and I have had her since she was a little puppy. She was at the vets a few weeks ago for an update on her shots and an exam, and the vet said that her teeth were perfectly fine and that there was really no need to brush them. I give her tennis balls to chew on because she does not like bones, but that is about it. The vet said that the tennis balls should do a good enough job cleaning them.
It's not the appliance, it's the way and how you brush....sm
It's recommended to brush your teeth for 2 minutes at least twice a day. We use an egg timer in our bathrooms to help everyone keep up with how long they've been brushing.
I have a Braun professional care spin brush in my closet that I don't use anymore because they went way up on the cost of the replacement heads (even on eBay). During the couple of years that I used that I would end up with not as nice of dental checkups, i.e. the gums weren't always in perfect shape, but when I use just a regular ordinary toothbrush I have perfect checkups. They say that you can tend to get lazier about brushing with one of these fancier brushes and I believe that.
you need to buy the brush to put it on, total price for the first time is $28
you can apply it in two different ways, one way in which you let your moisturizer dry and the put it on and another is use a bit of moisturizer to get that "dewy" look. Also you should always start off with less (at least with our brand) because it is layerable for a fuller-coverage. Also there are 6 different shades to choose from so you should be able to find a perfect match.
"go brush your teeth" -- kid don't listen
You know, truthfully, I have a nearly perfect 7-year-old kid. He's well-behaved, patient, kind and honest. Why is it, then, that we have to have this big fight EVERY night and EVERY morning regarding "go brush your teeth." I have to tell him this six to seven times before I am heard. Then I'm grumpy about it, nagging how they'll rot, turn black and fall out. My only thought is to try ignoring him when he requests something, making him ask me six to seven times. That might work. Gotta love him, but this really irks me.... Anyone else with a similar dilemma?
Rub some baking soda or corn starch into him well and brush out? nm

It's all a scam. All you need is a good, firm toothbrush - brush at least sm
for 2 minutes AND you have to floss every day if not almost every single day. Also, what keeps your mouth very clean are those whitening strips! Because it is loaded with peroxide, it actually keeps your gums and gumlines from developing bacteria that causes gingivitis.
I used to get canker sores and sores in my mouth ALL THE TIME. After I started whitening my teeth regularly I haven't had a sore since. I bit the side of my cheek the other week and NOTHING surfaced from it. For years and years every time I would bite my lip or cheek it would develop into a nasty sore. I thank those Crest White Strips for keeping my mouth clean!
I used to get up and go straight to work - didn't even bother to brush my hair until after noon.
I had a holy faded T-shirt with Tweety bird (you could barely see him anymore!) and a pair of baggy sweat pants that I wore with big pink fuzzy house slippers! Until I got caught several times with a little old lady from my church stopping by to say high, salesman knocking on the door, and the final straw was my nice looking neighbor stopping buy to borrow my ladder. I finally decided perhaps I should brush my teeth and come my hair just in case!
Now, I get up every morning, take a shower, fix my hair, and put on my makeup. Then I get the kids off to school and I sit down and work. I have found that, believe it or not, I am way more productive than I used to be. I'm not distracted thinking about when am I going to make time for a shower. I still wear jeans and a T-shirt and my house slippers, but now no one can catch me looking like a worn out old hag anymore. And now that I'm single, well ya never know when you might bump into Mr. Right.

Paint it!
I've encountered both real-wood paneling and cheap'o pressed (remanufactured?) paneling and several in between. I absolutely hate paneling!
If it is real wood or at all pourous you could scrub with Murphy's oil soap or something similar.
I've always opted to paint it. You'll most definitely need to invest in a decent primer and use a decent quality paint as well. If you try to just paint it (even with good quality paint) you'll end up having to put a half-dozen coats on and that is a lot of work!
There is also a thick, stiff paper covering that you can put on it, it goes on like wallpaper and then paint over that, or leave plain if you'd prefer. That can turn into a pretty expensive route because that covering is pretty expensive when you get the thick kind that will cover the cracks in the paneling and not let them show through. That stuff comes in different thicknesses for various uses, so you would need to be sure to get the thick one that will smooth over the cracks, it usually tells in the "used for" section if it works for covering paneling. If you don't mind seeing the cracks, then I'd say PAINT IT!
Good luck.

Some people do pain the ceilings the same color but i think most just leave it white. I personally would leave it white. Don't overdo the green, i think you would be sorry.

How come that she spilled this paint on the floor?
Was there no cover on the can?
The mother of the girl is not responsible for what happens in your house.
Also not that she dragged all the paint into your house.
If you have children as guests in your house, you are responsible for what happens and you have to supervise them.
Where were you? Where were you wandering around?
If something happened to the child, it could have been your responsibility.
You should have secured this can of paint before the children arrive.

paint colors..
Go to sites like Lowes.com click project center, interactive disign tools and try Armstrong design-a-room or olympic paint color guide. These will give good tips as well as let you select colors and see them on walls and ceiling to see what they look like.
I recently remodeled. Hubby's childhood home. He had never seen anything but white wall anywhere. I love to cook so afterwards we looked back and paint names were sage, olive, thyme, ginger peach, merlot, moonshine.
They have a paint calculator there as well to make sure you don't over buy, but we did buy extra for later touch ups or "oopses" that happen.
Most stores now have a computer that you can take your pillow sham or comforter in and they can scan the color content and either mix the almost exact color you want or tell you which ones they have in stock that match.
Some recommend mixing paint with your white to match a little closer for ceiling. My ceilings were all ultrawhite. I loved the crisp white feeling. Hubby said looked like crayola box exploded. I figured okay so what if it made it look a little smaller? The room is the same size. (mainly for selling factors). I said if I paint it where it looks big and still stump my toe on furniture what difference does it make, it is still the same size room! But I was happy with my choices.
Congrats! If you want some paint fun
go to the various paint companies websites (I like Behr) and fool around with their virtual rooms and color combos. They also have good tips for the how-to of it. Enjoy your new digs!

hopeless. No man wants to get divorced. This may sound funny, but they don't. Even if they hate the woman they are married to. I should know. I was a perfect housekeeper, but everything you said in your note applied to me. May have been married to the same man!
If you have been to counseling four times, I would say you gave it your best shot.
However, how old are your children? It is very hard raising kids alone. Can you stay there until they are older? High school? I was a long suffering woman, until my daughter graduated from high school. I am much older and we were taught to stay for the sake of the children.
Believe me, I know it is not easy to leave; but it does get a LOT easier once the children are grown.
You have a lot to think about and my heart goes out to you, because I was once where you are.
Paint chips as a child
No - did you - you're an MT aren't you - that equates to insanity the way I see it.
I gave away tons of paint that I
no longer wanted, someone asking for and told them take all or nothing. They did and it helped me clean out my garage. I saw a trailer someone was giving away -the kind some folks live in. I have been trying to get my hubs to get some free mulch- they have that all the time.
and I could paint with my feet if I had no arms
the question is if I had a choice, I think I would choose to have arms.
Any tips on getting paint out of carpet? sm
My daughter had a party tonight with probably 10 kids here. One of the girls spilled a can of paint in the garage they were using for their "haunted house" and stepped all in it. Rather than staying outside until she got the paint off with the water hose, she tracked it all into my house! I am furious! Of course, she wasn't wearing her shoes. She was playing and put my 16-yo's shoes on. I highly doubt she would go tracking through her home with paint on the bottom of her feet and she even came upstairs laughing saying I stepped in that paint that we spilled. I said then what are you doing tracking it all through my house, get in the bathroom and wash it off! She is 12 years old and should know better. Kids these days are so disrespectful.........Any tried and true tips for getting paint out of carpet? Should I say something to her parents? This is the same child I almost sent home earlier today because she slapped my 9-yo son and I did call her mom about that and informed her of what happened and if I had any more incidences out of her she was going home. Hitting is not allowed in my house period! Geez, can I say this child will not be a vistor at my house anymore!
I want to learn to paint gourds. sm
Can anyone recommend some good books to buy? I did find some but would really like to know which ones to buy first. They all looked great.
You absolutely can paint paneling, no problem
at all. I wiped down the walls with some cleanser type material as the person living there previously had cooked and the walls sorta greasy. I used absolutely nothing but the paint - nothing else needed. The walls were very dark brown and I used indoor off white to brighten up. We use for a woodsy get away from the big city......
If the color is very light, paint ceiling with it, too.
Usually enough light reflects up so it appears the ceiling is white, anyway. Only with dark colors will it seem cave-like. I've done it with a celery color and it was bright and cheery.
If you have lots of trim and paint it a crisp white, then I'd paint the ceiling white too. That would look sharp.

You'll pretty much have to paint and steam clean
My grandmother smokes inside, and when we repainted the inside of her house and cleaned her carpets (steam cleaned them twice!) you couldn't smell it anymore. That is, until she started smoking inside again!

what the post said about the wipes. maybe something all natural might also do it that way the baby might not have a reaction to that and its good for the dog also. do some research on the net if you can. its worth it before you give your other "baby" up. let us know what happens. if worse comes to worse, make sure you interview prospects very well just like a baby for adoption. hope the first one works for you :)

We believed that those entrusted and blessed with much should give much. If you keep all that you have you become stagnant - like the Dead Sea. The Dead Sea has absolutely no outlet which is why everything dies that enters it. I don't think we are much different. Give in order to be happy.
Once they give me what I want, they
can do what they like but until then guess we will just have to continue to cut that massive yard. It takes us about 2 hours to get there and then spend time there just to cut. It is an all day thing.
I'm sure they have - they will give her something (or let her out) (sm)
If they let her spoiled brat behind out, I am going to be MAD.
Can't give him away--Nobody else would put up with him!
I have a big kitty (18 lbs) that acts just like that! Pulling on blinds, disturbing our sleep, doing anything and everything to get attention until he gets fed! We love him so much and know that we are the only ones in the world who would put up with him--so we can't give him away! I feed him 3 measured meals a day. Fortunately, I now live in a house with a basement, so I put him down in the basement at nightime with his 3rd meal. He cries and scratches on the door a little bit, but then he gets used to it and goes to sleep. Sometimes I have to put him down in the basement during the daytime too if he starts being too bad while I'm trying to work.
Do you have a bathroom you could put kitty in at night? Just make sure there's not too much in there for him to destroy. That would be more comfortable than a crate.

Don't give up on her. PLEASE don't give in to her.
She's 16, and its never too late. I just started reading this thread and my heart is broken. I hope other moms take it to heart after hearing your story. I have 3 teens, so can relate. My husband and I came from permissive families - you know, the cool family with the house where all the kids wanted to hang out? The houses where they could get away with anything, drinking, drugs, smoking, sex, cause the parents looked the other way. My parents were fine, upstanding, snobbish upper crust members of the community, fine church-going folks and rich. And they didn't give a hoot about their kids in the end, though we looked great on paper. I only wish my parents had rules. I was grown up since I was 14. My husband, too - that's how we met and have been together 30+ years now. Our # 1 rule since our own kids were babies... NEVER are they allowed to sleep over anyone's house. Period. No exceptions. Not relatives, not their bestest friend, not their cub scout troop. Need I say that we have never had 1 regret??? There is NO good reason for any kid to sleep anywhere than their own bed at night. Period. We realized when they were little that if we let them do the sleepover thing when they were little, but then stopped when they were older, what kind of a message was that? We knew the sweet little neighbor who at 5 years old demanded her friends sleep over, or else would throw a tantrum, would be 16 one day, and a tramp. Its that simple an equation these days, unfortunately. So, no sleep overs, no exceptions, not for church, especially not for church. LOL. How sick is that? But this is 2008 folks, and this is one messed up world. My kids were upset a bit when they were really young, but we didn't make a big deal of it, nor in the end did they. They are cool, mature teens, and have actually thanked us for it many a time lately. We took the temptation out of their hands - kids are too young to have to go thru this crap. I know, I did. At any rate, of all the rules I would start if I were you, I would go with the knowing where she slept at night, eacn and every night. Otherwise, look what's happened. She has lost this privilege at the very least. Kids don't need to not come home at night. Please don't ever fall for that one again. Even if she is at so-and-so's house, a friend, you must see what kind of kids she is hanging with. Don't allow it, for her sake. She will never ever change unless you do it for her. Praying for you. Be strong. She may hate you now, but she won't a year from now, or two. But at least she'll be alive to forgive you, rather than possibly dead. You know what I mean. Let your husband's European temperament prevail. BE STRICT. Being a strict parent does not kill your kids in the end, honest.
yes! and why do I have to give my
account number, name and address to a phone tree when I will have to do it all over again when I speak to a real person?
Don't give up!
I've been sewing all my life. My grandfather had a Sew N Vac type store when I was a little girl, and he used to have me and some of my other cousins come into the shop and sew during store hours to show customers that it was "so easy, even a child can do it!" I learned to sew before I even went to school! He even had some antique machines with foot pedals that we kids used to play with. I have all sorts of machines, from antique hand-crank Singers to cheap Wal-Mart plastic machines, and high-end Pfaff and Viking sewing machines and sergers.
Check out local sewing and fabric stores for classes. You can also try visiting Meetup.com, which is a really cool place to find all sorts of people who get together to pursue their interests. I don't know where you live, but I checked in my area, and there are several groups for beginning sewing listed. Maybe there are in yours, too.
With that said, I really have to tell you that Singer machines are not the best. Since the company was sold many, many years ago the quality has gone downhill. They are not built to last and have many parts that break very easily. In my experience, a simple mistake in threading some Singers will place a lot of tension on a weak part in the thread line. Something will snap or break, and once it's broken, you can't get the machine to feed thread properly as you sew.
Unfortunately, a really good machine can cost hundreds of dollars, and it's hard for a beginning sewer to make that sort of investment not knowing if it's something they'll be doing for a long while. I always recommend going to a store that deals in higher end machines. (Pfaff happens to be my favorite.) Then ask to try machines or take classes with their display machines. You learn basic sewing techniques and you learn what makes one machine better than another.
I suggest that if your machine is brand new, you return it for a refund. Take some sewing classes first, and try different machines. Then you can make a better, more informed purchase, which in turn, should result in successful and fun sewing!
I'm sorry. You probably didn't want to hear that, but I can't say that I'm a fan of Singer machines. Even if you get it to work, it's likely to fail not long down the road, which will only frustrate you. I'm willing to bet it's the machine and not you.
I just give
the roll a spin and catch the end of the paper. I've never given it a thought as to which way it should go.
