Fresh fruit salad or fruit kabobs
Sounds yummy!
I've always wanted to make one of those cakes with the blueberry/strawberry flag design on top. Maybe I'll plan for a party next year. :)
James and the Giant Peach
by Roald Dahl.....Also, another macbre piece came out when my boys were young in the late 80's early 90's....The Thief of Always by Clive Barker....We had all the Little House on the Prarie books by Laura Ingalls Wilder, anything Mark Twain, Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway .....My mother's a teacher and we're all voracious readers...What wasn't in our library at home, I just went and roamed the stacks at the library....Most kids these days don't even know what the stacks are. War and Peas...(food fight!).... you crack me up Hayseed! Cat
My yard is a giant puddle.
It squishes like a wet carpet when you walk on it. I can't wait for spring! If those stoooopid squirrels will stop digging up my bulbs, the gardens are going to look great this year.
It's an oldie - 'THEM' - about giant ants.
I still think of them every time I drive past that part of the L.A. River near Griffith Park, and see those cave-like tunnels along the side......
Two Tylenol (not aspirin or Advil or Aleve) with anything citrus..
And the "navel" in the fuzzy navel doesn't count!!!

Running wild all summer in the surrounding citrus orchards - sm
- Also the small town (which it isn't anymore) 4th of July parade, and how excited my dad would get about the fireworks.
- First trip to Yosemite & Lake Tahoe in 1960. Back then the park was practically empty in late August.
- Neighbors who showed Disney movies for all the kids in the neighborhood for free on summer Sat. nights.
- Halloween when I was 10, and trick-or-treating with no parents along. Kids sure can't do that now.
- The nearby thoroughbred horse farm, where we used to sneak into the *old guys'* pasture, climb aboard, and ride them around. It's a wonder we weren't killed...
- *Sledding* down hills on dried-out grass on big pieces of cardboard.
- Tire races! (Put small kid in large tire at top of hill, roll tire down hill. Resulting dizziness of said small kid was VERY funny. Tire & kid that go the farthest before falling over is the winner.)
- Building our own wagons, go-karts, tree-forts, stick-horses, bird-houses, etc. without adults to tell us the *right* way to do it. Much more fun our way.
- Playing in construction sites. We once found a HUGE beam that was eventually going to be a main ceiling beam, and with about 15 kids' help, were able to drag it to a spot where we could turn it into a GIANT see-saw. You could put about 8 kids on either side, and it went REALLY high.
- Going to my friend's house on Sunday nights to watch Bonanza - in COLOR! (Everyone else in the neighborhood had blk. & wht.)

Mojo criollo marinade - citrus, garlic, & onion sm
I can get it at my local grocery stores and use it on pork loin or chicken, and I have even found a fresh sausage with the flavor already added to it. Very good with yellow rice, black beans, and peas.
If I had some pineapple, then I would need
some vanilla ice cream, about 4 smushed up bananas, put those ingredients together and pour sugar free Sprite over the top. That stuff is so good it is sinful. I was served that years ago and made it since but so loaded with calories hardly ever have but yum!
What would you do with a can of crushed pineapple
I've got a can of crushed pineapple I bought at Christmas and never used. Can't think of what to do with it now and would like some suggestions.

DIRECTIONS
Dedge the raisins in 1 cup flour.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Butter and flour two 9 inch round pans.
Sift together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter or margarine and sugar; add egg yolks, and beat until smooth. Mix in flour mixture in parts alternately with milk. Stir in coconut, pecans, and raisins.
In a clean bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form. Fold into batter, and then pour batter into prepared pans.
Bake for 25 minutes, or until done. Cool layers on wire racks.
In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, water, flour, lemon and orange. Cook over medium heat until thickened. Stir in coconut and cook for 2 minutes. Allow to cool, and then ice cake. Alternate pecan halves and maraschino cherries halves around top of cake to form a pinwheel.

SUPER BOWL
GabbyChic,
I suggest you actually watch this game. Been a Steeler fan 30+ years, eventhough, I moved to Texas in 88. I promise you, this won't be boring.
I wouldn't trim beforehand either. Just wanted to second the pineapple-brown sugar preparation
toothpicks & maraschino cherries. I place the ham in the center of the pan, do the "diamond" studding with cloves, surround the ham with pineapple slices (have to admit it, I use the ones in heavy syrup),& then off & on sprinkle more brown sugar on top of the ham & pineapples & use a baster to douse the ham with the juices. Hubby had never had a ham prepared that way before let alone with pineapple - now he looks forward to it!! Guess my age and teachings are really showing here :o)
So if we leave a water bowl outside for them, will they

Colts are Super Bowl Champs sm
Woohoo! GO COLTS!
Ahhh the memories, my mother used to bowl
on Thursday nights (30yrs ago) and she always made a crockpot of pinto beans since my dad didn't like to eat out. BTW, am having homemade chicken nuggets with a couple of very simple homemade dipping sauces.
Having our annual Super Bowl party
Just a few close friends. We're having pizza and chicken wings and my the neighbors bring over various dishes. One usually brings over a great hot chicken wig dip and my husband will make chilli in the crockpot. My friend and I just like to watch the commercials. LOL. After we eat and see the halftime show, the kids and women go across the street for our own party.
Tell Us ABout Yer Super Bowl Plans this Year.
what are you doing? Making? Will ya be on your own or having peeps over?
Having our annual Super Bowl Party
We have one every year. We're having about 15 friends over. Pizza, wings, assorted munchies and whatever dishes our friends decide to bring. It's a lot of fun even though I just watch the Super Bowl for the commercials, and the halftime show.

Did anyone watch any of the Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet? SM
I watch it every year, but this year was particulary funny! Such adorable breeds playing running, jumping on each other, etc. I laughed my head off. The little Westie was just darling, and the little Corgie pups were so sweet.
Do any of your cats drop their toys in the water bowl?
It's the funniest thing with mine. When Lucky was a baby he'd drop his toys in the toilet and just have a blast trying to fish them out. Then he'd come jump up on the desk with me and shake his wet paws off. Lucky and Sofia both drop their toys in the water bowl. Sofia loooooooves those little fur mice. She will go to town chasing them around and then she drowns them either in the water bowl or the toilet. I have learned to check before I sit down on the potty - I think I've flushed more than one mouse away.
Thanks - I didn't realize they didn't like the smell of citrus
I have the feeling he doesnt have a UTI and he's trying to tell me something else, but I'll be taking him to the vets to be safe.
Fruit Kabobs?
I have to send in fruit for my son't party at school tomorrow. I thought fruit kabobs would be a cute way to do this. Can I make them tonight and still be good tomorrow afternoon? I only ask because he wants apples and bananas to be included and they usually go brown on me when exposed to air. any suggestions?
Or fruit tray and dip.

Just like the Tropical Passion Fruit
I love that stuff. I only have a little inch in a purse-size spray now. Supposedly they may bring it back, but I am bummed. I loved that for the summer.
Fruit kabobs? Do you cook them?
Sorry to show my ignorance, but the idea sounds really good. I never thought of fruit kabobs. Do you BBQ, broil or bake? Which fruit combinations are best?
Also, I would add something fun for kids if you have them (and adult easy) by making cupcakes in flat-bottomed ice cream cones with icing decoration. Kids love them. I would also add a relish dish and probably a veggie platter.
So sad...but thanks for this. I have a small dog who loves ANY kind of fruit

I lightly grill my fruit kabobs...
Simple combinations like strawberry-kiwi, strawberry-banana or strawberry-pineapple are outstanding grilled desserts. Also, mango is really good with any of these combos. Grill the kabobs over medium hot coals for 6 to 8 minutes, turning a few times. They're great as is, right off the grill, with nothing else added. But I find them best with added sweetness, like a very light sprinkling of a sugar-cinnamon mixture or brush on some white grape juice or a very light sugar or honey syrup. Hope this helps..
berry or fruit juice for diets sm
Heard the "free trial offer" for the acai berry (sp) on line is a farce because once you give all the info and agree to the low shipping charge, you are locked into an automatic charge to your credit card of 80 plus dollars. If you try to contact them, the phone number provided is non-operational and you are stuck. Is this berry product available in retail stores? Also, anyone find any pomegrant (sp) juice helpful and who has the best price on it? Need to lose some "winter weight" and it's not even winter yet. Kind of hard when you sit all day - I know, I know - diet and exercise! Told by my cardiologist to walk but recuperating from surgery, so not that active. TIA
What has helped my pain are fruit and vegetable capsules. sm
I have been taking them for 8 years or so ever since my pain started to get so bad I couldn't sleep (I know you know what I mean). I was working for a certified nutritionalist/chiropractor at the time. They have helped me so much that I continue to take them after all these years because I'm afraid not to. I did stop for a little while and tried another product (10 months or so) but the pain came back. Email me if you want to know more info. I am not a distributor so I'm not trying to sell them or anything, it is just what has been working for me.

Plants will attract gnats, as will ripe fruit.
If the gnats are congregated in one area, sticky bug cards will help catch them for you. Or you can kill them by spraying them directly with an ammonia-based cleaner like many glass-cleaning formulas.
