I remember a show years ago that I saw- sm
on squirrels. The show was about how they can figure any deterrent out. They had made an elaborate set up to a bird house, probably 100 feet long of booby traps, etc. to prevent the squirrel from getting to the food. I think it took them half a day to figure it out but eventually they got through all the obstacles and got to the food through trial and error. One would try and the others would learn from the mistakes, it was pretty incredible to see.
Years ago... (~20) I went to San Diego for a trade show -sm
my boss left me after 3 or so days for another trip and left me to pack up, etc. I had been scared at the beginning of the trip being only 22 or so at the time. But I had asked to stay a day after the close of the show so I could do sightseeing. I took the rental car and drove up the cost to the San Diego Wildlife park (alone) and had a blast. Best day I have ever had a zoo, granted this was not your ordinary zoo. It was nice driving down the Pacific Coastal Highway too and seeing the ocean on the west coast (I am from the east coast). I have not had the opportunity to do this ever since, planned to but never did a trip to England I wanted to take alone. But I never felt alone at the hotel or anything, eating alone was the only thing that bothered me in the resturant in the hotel; did drive through otherwise. Go and enjoy yourself. I plan to take off for a week so with the kids next summer and go camping, sightseeing, etc. and if my DH can come great, if not it will be just me and the girls!
Well, the last time I watched the show (few years back) I sm
remember Phyllis as a conniving you-know-what! I'm surprised that ya'll like her. She must have changed A LOT! I loved him with Sharon...
Martha Stewart did it on her show a couple years ago.
I wrote the directions down and never got to them. I remember you soak them and dry them and then sand them lots - I think acrylic paint and glaze. There are lots of local craft shows where I live and there are a couple gals that do them - bird houses, bowls, one does the neatest bright red apple ones. Just looks so neat and think it would be fun. SO - you might try doing a Google on Martha Stewart/gourds or something like that. Good luck.
My beagle used to do that
Upsetting but natural. I had to keep her up until the rabbits got old enough to escape her. Now she's long gone and the red tail hawks pick off the baby bunnies.
He was a beagle
My dad named him; I was 3 years old.
One time I jumped on the bed with him and then lay down ... he started licking my face with me giggling and closing my eyes. When I reopened them, he was puking green all over me! I remember my mom wasn't too happy as it got all over my little dress too. :)
He was a sweet dog.
She is a beagle but she has been mistaken ...sm
for a Bassett Hound before. She is very fat and very lazy but a sweet little tender hearted doll.
I have a very overweight beagle....sm
She just went to the vet the other day and he didn't seem too concerned. She weighed 40 pounds. She weighed 30 before being spayed. I told him she barely eats much. There is no way the weight can come from overeating. He said she is fixed right? I said yes. He said well that happens sometimes. They gain a lot of weight due to the hormone changes. I knew it had to be that cause she didn't get like that until we had her spayed. So I figured that was it and it is. So he said not really much you can do. She is very lazy though. My husband said put her out in the backyard and make her get some exercise. Well the backyard is fenced in so I put her back there and she lays out in the grass and looks at me after going potty. I said come on get up and play. She just looks at me like I can be lazy inside or lazy outside but I am going to be lazy. LOL
oh dear! I'm a beagle lover and I know what
you are going through. Poor poor poor puppy. I know they grow up to be dogs, but I can't help it, they're all still puppies to me!!
Keep updating on the board!
Was just about ready to post cat on the beagle
I am former owner of pedigreed female Beagle with the best tri-coloring One has ever seen. I not longer own her, cannot go there at this time. I will try to post my precious Pinkie at this time. If I can't oh well Note: She lives in Hawaii. I am her grandmother. Sorry could not upload her! Tree-Walker Hound she is
I miss my beagle baby
I miss my beagle!! I took her this morning to have an abortion and get spayed in the meantime. I know, ABORTION?! Well under the circumstances I had to. She was bred by my pit bull. She couldn't have safely had the puppies. SO she really needed spaying anyway. Should have already been done and this wouldn't have happened. But gosh it is like your child. I worry and miss her so much. All I can think is is she ok, does she wonder why I left her at this strange place. I am sure she just thinks I have gotten rid of her. I hope she is sedated so she won't get too upset. She is extremely shy and doesn't like to be around strangers. I just can't wait till I can go pick her up in the morning. It is funny how we are so attached to our dogs. She is my baby.
A beagle is a wonderful dog for familys...sm
They usually don't get any bigger than 20-something pounds; though, mine is 30-something but she is overweight. They are very sweet dogs. The only thing is you have to have a fenced in yard because beagles love to wander.
I have my beagle baby back home!!!...sm
She was happy to see me and my other dog was very happy because just in the 24 hours she was gone he would not eat. He began to be destructive which he doesn't ever do when you are at home with him. He would go get magazines out of the magazine basket and shred them. He doesn't normally do that unless I leave him at home alone. But I was home so it had to be because his friend was gone and he wanted her back. She is sore but she will be fine. At least I don't have to worry about her coming in to heat anymore.
How cute, is the little one a beagle or basset hound? nm
xxx
now- white lab, dobe/shepherd, terrier mix, beagle/blue heel, from shelters.
nm
I missed the show but yesterday on her show
a couple of brothers came in and gave money to the family. Sorry I don't have more info, but like you, I do love the show. The brothers tried to give some of the credit to Oprah but she wouldn't take it. She really wanted the brothers to get all the credit.
My husband is 7.5 years younger. Been together almost 20 happy years...nm

My feelings; people shacking up together for years and years
and then all of a sudden deciding to get married don't need a thing, obviously. A shower should not even be given. I lived with my now husband a while (nowadays who doesn't!) before we married and I also had been married before years ago but he was not....so of course HIS mom wanted a shower. I told her absolutely not unless it was just the immediate family, his mom, sisters, etc, more like a celebration/get together. And so that's what we did. Showers are tacky, period. Unless it's a couple of young kids getting married straight out of the house and that doesn't happen much anymore.
Been with a man 13 years older, now with a man 4 years younger.
Younger is better, at least in my case ;)
Sorry, meant 75 cents. Still, that was years and years ago.

I studied to be a scopist years and years ago
Back in the early 1990s I took a course called Note reader Scopist. They read court reporter notes (those long skinny papers that looks like a cash receipt) and types them into documents. I had found the course through something called At Home Professions but just didn't finish it because it was too expensive for me. But I am familiar with them and even found my book from the first course I took. Looking back I think it would have been a blast if I had kept up with it.
It is definitely legitimate. A lot has changed since the early 90s, so I'm not too familiar with the industry now. I do remember what was really weird was it didn't take a lot for me to learn it. For instance I could look at a line of court notes and see something that looked like: NV p srn - and I seemed to know exactly what it said. Just weird. My DH used to say that I understood it because I was an alien and my ship crashed in Roswell. HA HA HA Anyway...that's what I know about it. But if you Google note reader scopist or at home professions i'm sure you could probably find a lot of info.
I have been vegetarian on/off for 35 years, was vegan for about 5 years sm
not that hard. Right now, I am having so many issues with food allergies and celiac disease, having to give up nightshade veggies...nothing left to eat. I am eating some meat now, but not when the gastroparesis sets in!
Being vegan is not hard...unless you are a celiac. This is how I figured out the celiac part because so many of the meat analogs and vegan packaged foods use gluten for the protein and I got really sick from it. I gave up all the premade things and the whole grains with gluten and I was fine.
There is vegan and then there is VE-GAN. By definition, vegans don't wear, use or consume anything that is derived of animals...no leather shoes, most shampoos and toothpastes are off the list, as are deodorants. No wool or silk. Anything with soap usually has animal byproducts. It is very involved and rather difficult to do.
Giving up meat, eggs and dairy is no big deal, except for cheese. You hear that ad about "comfort proteins" in a baby formula and there is such a thing. Mother's milk, be it human, cow, goat, whatever...contains a chemical that triggers the release of endorphins in the brain so that feeding feels good in more ways than one. The purpose of this is ensure that the nursed young want to nurse and thrive. Human milk has a lot of these, so does cow's milk and cow juice triggers the same reaction in the adult human brain. Cheese is concentrated milk and therefore these chemicals are also concentrated. As a result, cheese is an addictive substance. This is the hardest thing to give up when going vegan. Vegan cheese substitutes are nasty and they don't melt. If a dairy-free cheese melts, it contains casein, an animal protein and not vegan.
I studied this years and years and years ago
Most definitely is legitimate. In the late 1980s I studied to be a note reader scopist through a group called At Home Professions. I loved it, but unfortunately could not continue due to no funds. It was reading the court reporters notes which looked like a grocery receipt with a bunch of letters scattered on it. The weird thing was I found it extremely easy. For instance I would see a line that looked like: av e cr, and for some reason I would know what it said. My DH told me that's because I'm an alien and my ship landed in Roswell. HA HA. Well I know that a lot has changed, after all it's been over 20 years since I took the first course and know a lot of it is computerized now, but it is most definitely legitimate and I've heard people like to do it. I think I remember one of the courses was in medical terminology and another course was in legal terminology. Should be able to find a lot of it on google, or maybe go to your local college if they offer it and talk to an instructor.
This has happened for years and years, where have you been?
Frank Sinatra, Elvis, the Beatles, and on and on. This person is acting very normal like the age she is. You would have to have been under a rock to think differently, like this was an abnormal behavior....
Lost my mom 23 years ago and dad 18 years ago.
My son was not even 1 when my mom died....she was only 50. My dad died at age 59. So even though I feel your pain....I would have been very grateful to have them into their 80's. I guess we take what we get and be thankful. Sometimes it is hard though.
I was married for 13 years and 2 years
after my divorce I met the most incredible man. He was also divorced, we both have 2 kids, and though we are not married, we have been together for 9 years. They are still out there, you may have to go through a few marginal ones before you find him, but they are out there and available.
The show 24. Anybody know
when or if the show is coming back on Fox? What happened to it?
TV Show 24
Do any of you keep up with this show? Have any of you watched it from the beginning? I'm just getting into it and wondered if it would be worth buying the previous seasons' dvds. "Jack Bauer fan"
I think you would like the show
Planet Earth on discovery channel. It's got beautiful photography and filming of animals all over the world. A recent one showed a fox snatching a baby snow geese from it's nest, and you feel awful but then it shows the fox bringing the food to babies of it's own and realize it needs food too! It's all a perfectly laid out plan and we humans are the ones who really mess up the balance on this planet.
Anyone who can tell me what that show was about
I did not see and therefore cannot comment.
I like that show too.
nm
Has she been on the show
yet? I don't remember anybody named Maureen. I heard something, but it's a big time SPOILER so I don't want to say it, but I just can't think of who she is
It does not show W. VA. nm
:
the show is
The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet. Hopes this makes it on board.
Just show the cat the box
Just take her and put her in the box. She will naturally know what to do and should start using it again. If not, I would call a vet.
Best show on TV
nm
Just the best show ever!
Funny, weird with some great eye candy.
There is a show that comes on TLC
that is filmed at the Brookhaven Clinic for morbidly obese people. They mentioned on that show that some of the residents had to be taken to the zoo for imaging because they were too heavy/large for regular equipment.
No, this is a different show s/m
True life, where unless I missed it (only saw the last 15 minutes), no religion is involved.
She will get her own show on TLC. Everyone will
xx
Yes, to me, he WAS the show. That
episode tears me up every time I see it. It was never the same after he left.
Just goes to show ya ....
I watched it and then the interview on GMA and that was priceless. What a truly joyful, humble and talented lady. I could have just smacked Simon - actually all the judges and most of the crowd for their initial reactions. Guess she showed them all looks are not everything and I am so happy this lady is getting all this acclaim. She is just priceless.
There is a show that comes on BET
on Sunday and it is called "Sunday Best." Anyone on that show beats what they have on Idol this year. I have basically stopped watching. No matter if Susan looks like poop, the people are sure taken with her. Adam will go the way of Taylor Hicks and Fantasia, one shot.
Probably not but maybe they'd contact them to be on the show! ; )
x
I didn't see the show
if it isn't too much trouble, could you tell me just a little more about "The Secret"
She seemed VERY nervous to me throughout the show, but
.
What is this show about? Haven't seen it.
x
I haven't seen his show but...
have seen the ads for his show on HGTV. He looks fun. Like you would want to invite him over to a party at your house, even if he couldn't decorate for you!!
Don't know about what he does with silk but whatever it is, I bet it is snappy!!!
Would like to show these legs but
ladies, come on now, who has a good remedy for OMG, that dreaded cellulite. I would not be showing these ole legs except for the fact I have to take some recommended water aerobics for my fibromyalgia and cover as much as I can but wish I could wear a mu-mu. Any ideas out there. Hey, by the way, do not want to hear about using used coffee grounds. Heard you could mix those with body oil and smear on legs. What a mess- did not work and then had that mess in my shower to boot!!
Just show them. Be proud of what you have.
That's my opinion, anyway. :) Don't be worried about how you look to others; most of them are probably all in a tizzy about what others think about them, too, and you don't really care what they look like, right?
That is precisely what this show was about...doing something
and letting people get involved in making a difference. If you don't want to be *in the loop* then don't join in on the thread. Simple as that. It's obvious you weren't realizing what tonight's show was about.
