You know that he does not have money and he expects you to pay. What shall he do if you hint that it is his turn to invite you or pay something, how can he do it if he does not have the means.
If you have to pay always, try to make your outings less expensive or cook at home, maybe he could do the cooking?
As the situatiom is like that, ayou hve to decide if this is what you want, you pay and in return you enjoy his humor (?), his charm, his pleasant company, his good looks (?), or you leave and look elsewhere.
Is there hope that his financial situation will get better? How old is he?
Maybe he sees in you a 'cougar?'
