There is a place about 10 miles from here that is always calling to try to get us to buy a timeshare.

I caved in once a couple years back because their promotional pamphlet said that you would receive a gift card for 1000.00 for attending one of their tours.

HA! What a laugh. I get up there, take a friend, sat through THREE hours of a sales pitch in a hot stuffy banquet room with about 50 other people (was supposed to be a brief 45 minute "incentive session") and the tour itself was a walk-through of an occupied unit. We were rushed through it single file. I never even saw the bathroom of the place. Maybe it didn't have one. Who knows.

By the way, the walk-through of the unit was BEFORE sitting through three hours of torture and slide shows.

When it came to the end of the sale pitch and it was time to get the heck out of there, we filed past the gift desk at the door and instead of the implied $1000.00 gift card, they handed out $1000.00 gift certificates to be used toward your purchase of a timeshare.

Not only that... when we first got there, they asked to see our ID to make sure we were who we said we were. The guy actually snatched it out of my hand and I didn't see it again until the end of the tour. Still had to argue with him to give it back because he was trying so hard to sell me a time share. I pulled out my cell and started to call the police so he gave it back.

A few days later, I got a "courtesy call" from the company and I gave them an earful. If I had three plus hours to waste, I would have gave it to them for three hours like I had to sit through. I will NEVER EVER do something like that again. I also reported them to the BBB and the local police.

Don't do it!
