dust bunnies
That is why I like the hardwood or laminate - you can see the dirt and dust bunnies and vacuum it up, plus the dirt magically collects at the baseboards so it's doubly easy to clean. When we took up the carpet and I saw all the dirt that had worked its way through the carpet and padding despite vacuuming, it was really an eye-opener.
I feel the same way about the dust bunnies.
They are easy to see and clean up with a quick vacuum or pass of a swiffer. I've heard that a carpet that has been in place for 15 years can weigh nearly twice it's original weight because of accumulated dirt that doesn't come up with vacuuming. Our 100-year-old house has original pine flooring. Pine is soft, and we've refinished it once in the 25 years we've been here. It's a more rustic look, and I've raised 3 boys in the house, not minding any little nicks and scratches along the way. Now that they are grown, we'll refinish again. Plus, I like the option of changing the look of the room with a throw or area rug, if I like. Our addition has a subfloor which we covered with carpet. It's our family room, and the carpet is always dirty. The other end of the addition has a wood laminate floor, which has been the best flooring we've had by far. It doesn't scratch, it's easy to clean, and it looks and feels just like wood. Some laminates are cheap looking, as though they were Xerox copies of real wood. We spent more money and got a nicer looking product. When it's time to replace the kitchen flooring, we're thinking of doing a semi-remodel to remove the old vinyl flooring (which is cracking and tearing after 22 years), installing in-floor radiant heat, and then wood laminate flooring. I think that will look great, plus we can find some greener or enviro-friendly recycled products, as well. Newer green construction is doing less and less carpet, because durable flooring can be made of recycled materials, is cleaner, and lasts longer.
Oh, and a friend of mine just had a cork floor installed in her kitchen. It looks amazing! I thought it would like like a bulletin board, but it's actually really nice. Since it's brand new, I can't comment on the durability. But it is eco-friendly, wasn't terribly expensive, and it really looks great. You might want to investigate that.
House. Milk chocolate or Dark chocolate?
Chocolate cake with chocolate icing!
My mother didn't like chocolate (is that unAmerican or what?) so it was always a real treat for me on my birthday when she made a chocolate cake with chocolate icing.
KY Jelly
I had an older friend many years ago who reached for a tube of KY Jelly on her nightstand when making whoopie but after application discovered she had gotten Ben Gay! Talk about in the heat of the moment! OUCH!
I do one better-PB, Jelly, and bananas (nm)
I imagine the jelly makes the PB go down! :)
It's funny to watch dogs with peanut butter - they love it, but it takes work just to swallow a little glob of it. You can hear them smacking their lips for hours.
Good ole Vasoline petroleum jelly.
Also good with frozen meatballs, jelly and chili sauce
yummy, just put in a crockpot.
No wait, wait... 'mere Mom, me and my friends
can all drink it too. Come on guyz... my Mom won't mind, have a drink and have some fun. Bring the chocolate syrup! Doesn't she have big nipples. "My Dad likes 'em too and my baseball coach!
Chocolate cream pie, whipped cream & chocolate shavings on it!
PLUS:
Chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream.
Pumpkin pie with a 2:1 ratio of whipped cream to pie.
A root beer float.
Chocolate chip cookies, or else soft, iced molasses ones - warm from the oven, of course!
And for dessert, a few chocolate Easter bunnies and a dark chocolate Hershey bar with almonds.
Beans, beans, beans
Beans taste really good with cheese and picante, and there are so many spices and spice packets, bouillon cubes are great too. Stock up on salt and spices!
Dried Beans
I always used to use those for bean soup for our family reunion. About 10 years ago, I made it and the beans were still crunchy! First time I had that problem. I had to throw it all out (20 quarts) and start all over again, yet only had 1 day until the reunion, ran out and bought canned beans. Worked. Now I use canned beans instead.
Never knew what happened, but I'd rather use dried beans because of the cost and shelf life.
speaking of coffee -- beans that is,
does anyone dip their c. beans in baking chocolate for snacks? I heard you can do this, but wondered if they are real hard, too strong or just plain tasty this way???
Ham, mac & cheese, and bakekd beans here.

Well I was just kidding about chewing on the beans!
But I am very happy that you found something strong enough - I guess espresso should do it. I have only had espresso once myself and it was bitter, but I understand that making it correctly is a kind of an art form.
I don't think I have had Cuban coffee, but I'll sure keep my eyes peeled for it. I love to try new things.
I buy Dunkin Donuts Beans in their store....or...sm
Sometimes I go to the grocery store and buy Colombian beans (I love Colombian coffee, among many others) to grind - Brothers brand is really good, believe it or not.
Also, in Dunkin Donuts while you're buying a nice cup of their coffee, they sell beans, their beans - and they had a sale - buy 1 pound, get the next one like half price.....I cannot remember, as it was a couple of months ago...but I bought 2 pounds and still have one in the fridge to grind.
I NEVER grind in the store. I have a little $30 grinder I picked up somewhere - Target? Wal-Mart? Can't remember that either.....but I grind a container full (like a week's worth) at one time. You can do more or less - it's personal choice there, or you can grind daily - it's that simple a thing.
But I'll tell you the truth - no matter that I'm grinding Dunkin Donuts beans - it NEVER tastes as good as buying it at their store... I don't know what it is - I use Half N Half (like they do) and it still pales in comparison to the ready-made Dunkin Donuts coffee in their store...
could just be a psychological thing here going on in my head about that.........*lol*
Happy Java hunting :)
ohhh 4 day weekend! cool beans!
Enjoy that time off!
Potato salad, baked beans.

I've cut out pasta and never gave beans.
PBJ's?? I know she likes peanut butter but thought it was probably bad for her.
So now I have a diet of hamburger-rice and PBJs. She's gonna have to fight me for the food dish!

This is a great beanice dish:
rice
beans (any kind)
onions (chopped small)
olives
turmeric
spices
Fry a little in olive oil or canola oil, then cook in water, 1:2, or 1:1/2, depending on kind of rice.
You can substitute beans with lentils or chickpeas, or put all 3 together....
Beans for supper...sounds like an experiment in our house. nm

Truffles, the other day you suggested chewing on coffee beans but
I think I found what I really need today and I had some Cuban coffee at a little shop up the street. I am in total love! The guy wanted to know if I knew what it was before I bought and told him drank some in a smaller cup in Santo Domingo, did not think it would be any stronger and goody for me, just hit the spot. The guy suggested my getting an expresso maker and might just do. I did not get around to chewing on the beans, though.
Eye round roast, potatos, yams, corn, and string beans.
Taking advantage of the cool weather and using the oven.
tator tots, burger, green beans, cream of mush soup
Brown a pound of ground beef with your favorite seasons.
In baking dish put a layer of tater tots, then take a can of french style green beans (all liquid removed) and layer over top of tots, then burger and top with cream of mushroom soup diluted with milk so its thin enough and creamy. Bake until tator tots cooked.
Use beans to stabilze blood sugar, yams, brown and wild rice, hearty

my chocolate lab
My lab is VERY STRONG - but luckily very loving and good natured. . We constantly are in the training process. He is about a year old now and loves everybody . but I get what you're saying and I think all dogs do have the potential to be aggressive if not trained/treated properly.
Hot chocolate mix
My sister-in-law's church made hot chocolate to give to their homebound friends at church. They used powdered hot chocolate mix but added creamer and milk chocolate chips to it. They put it in a Mason jar covered with fabric and tied a ribbon around it. It was really cute and it really does taste wonderful!! I don't know if you would want to give that to your boss, but I might make some for neighbors and keep some on hand for unexpected gifts we receive.
chocolate
I would stash them in the cupboard and eat them by the handful when no one was watching....
But if you must drink them I would add a drop of vanilla, cinnamon and some sugar to the melted chocolate thinned with milk.....:)
Chocolate Mousse
I could eat it every day. Yum.

Coffe and Chocolate
I quit coffee and chocolate by switching to Ginger. I buy ginger in bulk from gingerpeople.com. Crystalized ginger, ginger boosts, anything ginger. I also like Siberian Gingseng (another herb from health food store). Makes me just as happy and awake as chocolate and it is fat free.

Hot Chocolate Recipe
I'm looking for a good hot chocolate recipe using semi-sweet chocolate and regular milk (not cream or half-and-half). I over bought on the chocolate chips. I have checked recipes.com and will check a few other sites later. Just thought in the meantime someone here might have a good recipe to share. :) TIA!
Must be a chocolate kind of day...sm
I had a handful of M&Ms and a cup of hot chocolate for lunch. Unfortunately, I'm still sleepy.

Hubby remembered one night...just 1 night...and can't remember when, that I was so hungry for a piece of chocolate, he gave me 5 pounds of chocolate for Christmas!!! I love chocolate but not that much!!!! I think he wants me to get fat.
I ate 2 pieces so far since Christmas. Hmmmmmmmmmm, think I'll go grab a piece now. It seems to be calling me.
EGAD! I just tried hot chocolate with caffeine!
Want to up my line count. Found Swiss Miss hot chocolate with caffeine. I am jumping out of my skin! Had to let you all know if coffee rips your stomach apart this may be an alternative. But I have not yet experienced the crash if at all from the sugar. But man, I am out of my skin!
I'd better go type now so I can take advantage of the line count. Yikes! This is quite a caffeine chocolate burst...LOL
