A few of us chip in, buy a lovely woven basket with gingham trim and buy tiny clothes pins at the dollar store. Then buy different size clothing because they outgrow so much. Buy a clothesline at the dollar store, remove wrapping from all, onesies, bibs, nightgowns, PJ's, whatever, leave the wrappers and slips in the bottom of the basket, hang the items on a clothesline and gently place the items on the clothes line, cover over with a receiving blanket, put a clothespin on the end of the clothes line, stick it out from under the covering item with a little "pull me" sign, then when she tugs on the line all the items come out and brings lots of oohs and ah's. It works and it's fun. Use neutral colors if you don't know the baby's sex.

I usually buy a bathtub or basket...sm
and fill it with baby advil, tylenol, anbesol, wipes, diapers, one of those things you put your bottles and cups in for the dishwasher, a couple of cheap teething toys, baby washcloths, spoons, pacifiers, socks. Sippy cups, bowls with lids. It is all pretty little stuff, but it is practical stuff they will use. Then I try to get a little candle or scented lotion for mommy. I like the idea of a restaurant giftcard or a walmart card so they can get what they need. Have fun with it!
Gift basket sm
Google Dana Farber in Boston. They have a gift shop there. This may come in handy later when she starts chemo/radiation. For now, I would keep it light, perhaps a Women's Magazine that won't mention cancer, i.e., Martha Stewart, Real Simple. If she's having radiation, they are fussy about what kinds of creams, etc., so stay away from that. Gift certificates for pick-up by her family, hard candy, word search books, movie rental gift certificates. I would keep it upbeat for now and later when she starts treatment, she may need turbans, etc., that's when the web sites will come in handy. Think positive, a little angel something or other would be nice. And stay away from the "if there is anything I can do" stuff, just "do it." Sounds like you are doing just that. God bless you for it!
It is a Easter basket. She deserves one.

I am really glad the got her an Easter basket. sm
why in the world should she have to defer to her birthday? It is a totally different thing.
I got an Easter basket up to 16 or so, loved it - sm
yes, I know it was from my parents, but it was still fun every year. My mom knew Easter was my favorite holiday and didn't begrudge me a basket because I was too old. I'd ask her next time if she would still like to get a basket or not, I think her mom would be surprised by the answer. As for the teeth, as long as she brushes properly cavities should not be an issue. If she has not yet had enamal painted on her back teeth your daughter should talk to the dentist. They now paint the back teeth with an enamal, cure it with UV light and it seals the back teeth from getting cavities. Costs me aboutr $34 a tooth but worth every penny. I've paid about $225 between my 2 to have it done. Think its a wonderful idea. My 1 has had 3 cavities (she's 8) but 2 were on baby teeth; the other one has none (7). --As for the competition that is hard to quash, my DH does it to me and we are married. He wants the kids to "like" him. It is a pain in the butt and I deal with it the best I can but I don't overly worry about it. I have good kids who listen to me and that is what counts.
basket of food or spa goodies?
Some puppy gift basket ideas.
1. Collar, maybe with personalize ID tag with name and owner contact info.
2. Leash.
3. Flea collar.
4. Flea powder.
5. Puppy-friendly flea shampoo.
6. Grooming brush.
7. Spray-on coat conditioner. Some come with nice fragrance.
8. Vitamins. They come in liquid and gel forms, usually flavored. Would not recommend pills.
9. Smoked dog bones (I think they are made of cowhide) appropriate for puppy's mouth size.
10. Chewy treats for training. My Shadow loved the cheese and/or bacon flavors.
11. Dog blanket.
12. Food and water bowls.
How about a big fresh and dried fruit and candy basket? nm

Bath and Body Works gift certificate or basket can't go wrong for a girl. sm
i made a basket for my brother one year. i had no clue either, but he seemed to really like it. i did a "night at the movie" theme. filled the basket with snack things since all men i know like to snack, lol. i put in there popcorn, pringles, candy bars, fudge, drinks, gift certificates to Blockbuster, etc. men also like games like checkers, chess, dominoes, poker, etc so maybe a nice poker set or something?
