So many aspects to the issue - my reply
Some other view points... Please note, my capitalizing the word SOME below is not intended to be yelling or sarcasm - I would have bolded it and kept it lowercase if I could. My purpose is only to stress that we all feel and think about the issues different, from our own perspectives, and some of us think thisaway...
1. ALL of the candidates are bad mouthing each other. Yes, Hillary is doing bad mouthing too. So is her husband.
2. SOME people do not count being First Lady as "governmental experience." Some people actually PREFER Barack Obama's (a beautiful name, to some) relative inexperience because they have confidence he is a very smart man who will surround himself with others in his cabinet to make up for any area he might be lacking in.
3. Being open-minded might not including saying things like "let's not be stupid about things" which could imply people might be considered (I am trying to post this but it will not let me include the word that was just included in post I am replying to that started with stu and ends in id) if they don't do as you are encouraging them to do... or implying if we were older or using our heads instead of our hearts, we wouldn't support Barack Obama... Maybe some of us STILL support Obama and we are of all ages..of all colors... of all religious affiliations (even Jewish, or even no religion), and we are fully capable, fully informed to do so with a balance of both our hearts AND our heads...
4. SOME people might consider the trail of corruption surrounding the Clintons (and that means Hillary) as a deterrent. Some people think Barack Obama is surrounded by less corruption... I said LESS, not none.
5. SOME people consider Hillary to be the "good old boy" candidate - i.e., the Status Quo candidate, and that is why they don't support her. They want change. She does not offer this from what many in this country can see.
6. SOme people feel that Bill - her husband - is a liability and does not add to her supposed years of experience.
7. SOME people might consider Hillary to have shown incredibly poor judgment by making the highly public choice to stay with a philanderer, a liar, and a man who has been accused not just of marital infidelities but of even worse and darker actions towards women (try a Google on Bill if you forget...). SOME people believe those past choices show how power hungry she is... and SOME people feel she might show the same kind of poor judgment in being the head of this country.
8. There is NO squeaky clean candidate out there.
Peace.
Question for athiest
I am someone who has gone from being a Christian to not knowing what I believe anymore. I am searching for answers. Anytime that fact comes up ... people from both sides tell me I will not find any concrete answer. Maybe so, but there is an ultimate truth, and it would seem odd to me if I did not feel the need to give it my best shot to find it. - The most frustrating part is that most information seems to be coming from one slant or another. I just want neutral information. (I don't understand why everybody would not feel the same way, but I guess everyone coming from whatever angle feels that way about their own thinking as well).
To my point ... as an athiest, do you know of any good sources of information (especially neutral) that will help me in my quest?
I recently was givin some tapes by Kent Hovind (trying to prove the Bible is correct). I have not watched much (and I find him quite annoying), but he did bring a couple things to my attention I was not aware of (such as some planets spin the reverse direction); probably ignorant on my part, but I was not aware of that and will look into it further.
Anyway, I am so curious to find sound reasoning for both sides, but with the endless info out there, it's hard to sort it out.
Any tips?
Thanks. :)
athiest soldier doesn't believe in God but
I commend for this man for standing up for what he doesn't believe in!

JUNCTION CITY, Kan. — Like hundreds of young men joining the Army in recent years, Jeremy Hall professes a desire to serve his country while it fights terrorism.
But the short and soft-spoken specialist is at the center of a legal controversy. He has filed a lawsuit alleging he's been harassed and his constitutional rights have been violated because he doesn't believe in God. The suit names Defense Secretary Robert Gates.
"I'm not in it for cash," Hall said. "I want no one else to go what I went through."
Known as "the atheist guy," Hall has been called immoral, a devil worshipper and — just as severe to some soldiers — gay, none of which, he says, is true. Hall even drove fellow soldiers to church in Iraq and paused while they prayed before meals.
"I see a name and rank and United States flag on their shoulder. That's what I believe everyone else should see," he said.
Hall, 23, was raised in a Protestant family in North Carolina and dropped out of school before earning his GED. It wasn't until after he joined the Army that he began questioning religion, eventually deciding he couldn't follow any faith.
But he feared how that would look to other soldiers.
"I was ashamed to say that I was an atheist," Hall said.
It eventually came out in Iraq in 2007, when he was in a firefight. Hall was a gunner on a Humvee, which took several bullets in its protective shield. Afterward, his commander asked whether he believed in God, Hall said.
"I said, 'No, but I believe in Plexiglas,"' Hall said. "I've never believed I was going to a happy place. You get one life. When I die, I'm worm food."
The issue came to a head when, according to Hall, a superior officer, Maj. Freddy J. Welborn, threatened to bring charges against him for trying to hold a meeting of atheists in Iraq. Welborn has denied Hall's allegations.
Hall said he had had enough but feared he wouldn't get support from Welborn's superiors. He turned to Mikey Weinstein and the Military Religious Freedom Foundation.
Weinstein is the foundation's president and a U.S. Air Force Academy graduate. He had previously sued the Air Force for acts he said illegally imposed Christianity on students at the academy, though that case was dismissed. He calls Hall a hero.
"The average American doesn't have enough intestinal fortitude to tell someone to shut up if they are talking in a movie theater," Weinstein said. "You know how hard it is to take on your chain of command? This isn't the shift manager at KFC."
Hall was in Qatar when the lawsuit was filed on Sept. 18 in federal court in Kansas City, Kan. Other soldiers learned of it and he feared for his own safety. Once, Hall said, a group of soldiers followed him, harassing him, but no one did anything to make it stop.
The Army told him it couldn't protect him and sent him back to Fort Riley. He resumed duties with a military police battalion. He believes his promotion to sergeant has been blocked because of his lawsuit, but he is a team leader responsible for two junior enlisted soldiers.
No one with Fort Riley, the Army or Defense Department would comment about Hall or the lawsuit. Each issued statements saying that discrimination will not be tolerated regardless of race, religion or gender.
"The Department respects (and supports by its policy) the rights of others to their own religious beliefs, including the right to hold no beliefs," said Eileen Lainez, a spokeswoman for the Department of Defense.
All three organizations said existing systems help soldiers "address and resolve any perceived unfair treatment."
Lt. Col. David Shurtleff, a Fort Riley chaplain, declined to discuss Hall's case but said chaplains accommodate all faiths as best they can. In most cases, religious issues can be worked out without jeopardizing military operations.
"When you're in Afghanistan and an IED blows up a Humvee, they aren't asking about a wounded soldier's faith," Shurtleff said.
Hall said he enjoys being a team leader but has been told that having faith would make him a better leader.
"I will take care of my soldiers. Nowhere does it say I have to pray with my soldiers, but I do have to make sure my soldiers' religious needs are met," he said.
"Religion brings comfort to a lot of people," he said. "Personally, I don't want it or need it. But I'm not going to get down on anybody else for it."
Hall leaves the Army in April 2009. He would like to find work with the National Park Service or Environmental Protection Agency, anything outdoors.
"I hope this doesn't define me," Hall said of his lawsuit. "It's just about time somebody said something."
Nice to see a fellow athiest aboard!
:)
i'm athiest and I agree. Christian holidays have been
easter bunny, santa claus. It almost seems like businesses are exploiting your beliefs by pressuring you into buy bigger, buy more for your family than you did last year.
What was the commercial?
Google the product and lyrics together.
commercial...
Yes, that commercial about the minivan (Toyota, Nissan...can't remember) with the 2 bratty kids sitting in it playing cards and the dad telling them about the treehouse..."does it have leather seats? a DVD player?" Uhhh, that just really gets under my skin but good...
car commercial
No, it's 2 guys, one is big and fat (the owner) but they both have hair and no beard. At the end he shouts "HUGE" in the most obnoxious way, sends me round the bend.
Commercial
I just posted this exact same question in myspace!
My fav commercial is the commercial with Meatloaf. It's for the AT&T ToGo Phone. The son is asking for one in the garage and he's all "let me sleep on it" so they just sing back and forth together and then the mom walks in carrying some sort of deer leg or something for the freezer?! lol it's great.
commercial
The fast food commercial for BK (I think) where the car in line behind the one at the window starts shoving the couple at the window up so he can order a steak sandwich with wheels screeching and rubber burning. Cracks me up every time.
Commercial
Not exactely sure what they are advertising, I think digital TV, but the husband is complaining to a friend by singing Billy Idol's Rebel Yell. Was so crazy about him in high school!
commercial
The Oxy-Clean commercials with the dark haired guy screaming through the whole commercial. He looks and sounds like a scary ape!
Commercial...
Right now I don't like that Wal-Mart commercial about the Power Wheels truck and she says..."I would have paid anything for that morning..." or something like that! Gah...annoys me cause most of us real folk can't afford to pay "anything for that morning..."
Me? I'm a walking commercial for them! LOL.
Am still amazed at how well they clean! Also have a microfiber mop. I used to get on my hands and knees and scrub my floors, but after I found this mop, that's all I use! I have so many of these cloths around my house because I just don't want to be without them! Have given them to my DILs and my friends, and they love them too. I can just go on and on about them. I know it's crazy, but after all the years of scrubbing and hands that get cracked and dried from chemicals, I just can't say enough about them.
I don't remember the commercial, but I think--sm
it was a toothpaste product. I have tried googling the lyrics, but don't get anywhere that way.
What TV commercial drives you
With me, it's the one for NutriSystem! I'm so sick of hearing about that "smoking hot body" and the "trophy wife!" Every time it comes on, I want to
Anyone else want to share?
The HeadOn commercial..
makes me want to scream! The Cavemen too, hate them!
What's your favorite commercial?
I love the one where the guy gets up in the middle of the night and puts the diamond necklace around his wife's neck. When she wakes up he pretends to be asleep but right at the end he just barely starts to smile. He has the sexiest mouth!
What's your favorite?
DH and I both enjoy that commercial,
but he interprets it very differently than I do. I see it as a dad thinking his daughter is embarrassed by his house, and he wants to improve it so she isn't embarrassed. But DH just thinks she's simply planting an idea for her mother, and that the dad will think it's all his idea that the kitchen needs to be updated. I'm thinking this means that if we had a daughter, this technique would completely work on him!
The TLC commercial about fathers
I think it is so sweet and really tasteful.
Just saw a commercial for Oprah about how
to talk to your kids about divorce. I think it said it will be on next Wednesday.
what's your favorite commercial right now??
Mine is the hotels.com where they guy gets excited about having 2 shampoos in the hotel and the the wife goes, maybe they are trying to buy you off so you will write a good review...and he goes, it's working...and pours both bottles on his dry head. I don't know why but it just cracks me up every time I see it.
my favorite commercial is sm
The cell phone commercials with the old lady and her mom says who can you be texting and she says my BFF Rose.
Commercial blooper and they don't know it
I just saw a commercial that mis-stated itself. It was for Barbisol shaving cream. The announcer said "And with 7 different flavors you can pick the right one". Flavors? Think they meant scents. All I thought of was....ewwww people eat shaving cream??? HA HA. Wonder if anyone has brought it to their attention.
But at least its not as annoying as 75% of most commercials. What commercial do you hate the worst.
1. Free credit report.com
2. Commercial about animal abuse. - That affects me way too emotionally and I have to change channels cos I start crying.
3. Any commercial where they have objects acting like people (like the swifter commercial).
4. Any commercial where someone is over-acting. Saw one for a dog/cat brush where the girl went to take the hair off of the (old and bad) brush and she acted as though her fingers had been slashed with 100 razor blades.
The lists goes on and on and on. And if I do see a commercial that is annoying I will refuse to buy it and buy the other brand in protest.
my son is shooting his first commercial!
We are thrilled!
Please research commercial pet foods
Please read this article, Iams is not a good food, there are many many out there that are, just not found at the grocery store. Vets do not know either, they are not taught animal nutrition in the vet schools which are subsidized by the pet food companies. I was horrified when I found this information out, please please inform yourself on this subject and if you find the below article too lengthy, just Google commercial pet food ingredients and you will be horrified such as I was when I finally decided to research this after my Collie died covered in cancer. All for the animals.

The paper towel commercial...
with the kid shaking the soda bottle that explodes all over the kitchen and his mom grabs the hose from the sink and sprays him back. What an example for all the little kids watching TV!
I personally like the Geico cavemen. They crack me up everytime. But I don't think they need a TV show based on them. That's too much.
Any commercial with Billy Mays (sm)
"Hi, I'm Billy Mays with some other junk product to clean your dirty stuff with that the other junk you bought from me didn't clean up in the first place." Why does the TV go louder when he's on, as if I really want to hear him?
There was a commercial a few years back for a dishwashing soap where this dog was slurping his big tongue all over the plates to preclean them. NASTY. I had to turn that one off everytime I saw it.
I'm in Iowa. We've had politician ads on the TV for a while now. I'm so thrilled.
Craftmatic beds, Chia Pets, The Clapper, etc., are cheesy but classic.
The Daisy sour cream commercials used to be on nearly constantly. The theme song would grind into my memory. No, I did not want a dollop of Daisy.
I'd have to say that Kevin Trudeau with his informercials is probably the worst. What a goon.
Geico cavemen and any car commercial (nm)

commercial pet food ingredients
I have posted this before, thought I would post it again for those who had not seen it.
The foods you describe are of low grade ingredients, and certainly not human grade, if you want to learn more, please take the time to look at the below link.
I have tested this myself. I feed Innova a grain-free product to my 4 cats. I have had to switch to a commercial brand rarely because of availability issues and I find they eat double of the commercial brand over the high quality brand. I feed 2 cups of Innova dry a day, when I have had to switch in the past, I have had to up that by 4 cups a day of the regular grocery commercial food because they are having to eat more to fulfill their nutritional requirements, so you really do come out even in the long run, plus you are providing human grade nutrition to your loved companions. It also helps cut down on vet bills because your companions will be healthier in the long run. I hope this helps.

I loathe that commercial. The kid is so disrespectful. (nm)

A&W Rootbeer "Dumass" commercial

Just saw pedigree commercial with Echo, the dog

saw a commercial last night for ACE of Cakes
and the next episode is "New Season". Don't know exactly when that episode is, last night, tomorrow, or sometime this weekend, but at least you are getting your wish.
That Leap Frog commercial
where this man is dressed as a giant frog or lizzard and says that books are boring except the ones that can be read by that pen they are trying to sell.
Hidden messages in Enzyte commercial
I love those pill commercial watch them closely they have little symbolisms(?) in them, the erect umbrellas in the drinks, the straight pointed finger on the hand, the huge splash of water in the swimming pool, diving in, the wood grain in the six panels when it splits the screen up. If you watch them they are so, so obvious. They crack me up. I know that sounds perverted and I certainly don't mean to offend anyone, it is just a little bizarre.
Look at this picture, the pen, the tie, clock hands are on 10 and 2 as in "10, 2 and 4", file drawers, plaque, crisp white shirt, tight fist and date book, apparently you can can set your calendar to it.
