I went to get an annual in early April. They said if it is normal they will send me a card. (I have used this OB/GYN for the last 6 years and this is usually what happens). I never received a card. The nurse calls me Thursday and left a message on the machine to call her. I called her back, she was already gone so I told the receptiionist to have her call me on my cell because I always have it with me. I received no word from her so by 3:00 on Friday I call her back. She was already gone for the day. I call her back this morning (Monday) she was with another patient. I call her back at noon, she was out to lunch, I call her back at 2 she was doing something else. Well I told the receptionist how unhappy I was and what all was going on. I finally after 1.5 hours get a phone call. She said my pap smear came back abnormal. The did an HPV test on it and it was neg. They want to do another pep in 6 months. She acted like it is no big deal.
I don't understand. If it is abnormal why would they want to do another one. Wouldn't it be abnormal too?
This has happened before and they did a thin prep and it came back okay but it was sooner than six months if I remember right. What is the usual protocol? Thanks for any help.

Abnormal Pap
Happened to me after the birth of one of my sons where the Pap came back abnormal. They wanted to see me in three months, and I was concerned. When I questioned this the doc told me the abnormal result was due to the delivery and not being quite healed. Everything turned out fine on second Pap. I would call the doctors office and let them know that you are worried. Maybe there is a level to abnormalities and your's is low enough that it does not cause them concern unless it were to increase or come back abnormal a second time. Good luck!
Not at all abnormal.
Quality not quantity.
Abnormal mammo sm
I fully appreciate your concern. Not to minimize your situation, a callback and ultrasound are not unusual today as every little speck is picked up. I have had 40 years of callbacks, ultrasounds and biopsies. It is one of the most aggravating and scary things to go through, especially at the holidays. Your docs are airing on the side of caution and you probably will have not much to worry about. Sometimes the ultrasound is followed by a needle aspiration. I have had surgical biopsies and other types of procedures. I still have both breasts and am doing well, although we have been through torture literally with all this. My husband as well gets all strung out and tells me I'm all he has, etc. Sometimes after a pregnancy you are prone to this more, and sometimes it's nothing but hormonal.. Just hang in there and think positive. it sounds like whatever it is is benign, that's what you have to tell yourself for now. They are just being extra cautious and thank God for that. It's a shame to spoil your holiday. My DIL has had the same experience and gets totally immobile with fear, only to find out it is a benign cyst. I use Dr. Susan Love's Breast Book as my Bible, it answers a lot of questions and it helped me through a difficult time and made me an informed consumer. You can order it from your library if you cannot buy one. I did. Don't think the worst - whatever it is, you are being looked at early. Hopefully, it's just a lumpy-bumpy cyst. Will say a prayer for you, you are not alone!!! Sometimes they are uncomfortable, sometimes not, sometimes you can feel them and sometimes you can't. Stay calm!

I too have lumpy breasts. I once had 13 cysts aspirated at one sitting. 1-1/2 years ago, I went for a mammogram, to a new and better mammo place. I had films, the radiologist wanted more, then an ultrasound, and then right then a biopsy, which results I got the next day and it was a large cyst, that they got most of. Went back six months later and nothing new. I have had a total of 18 cysts aspirated and/or biopsied. Fibrocystic disease/aka lumpy breasts are a pain to deal with. I cut down on my coffee and also menopause helped, with the hormones not helping the cysts grow. I was worried too about cancer. You should call your gyn doctor and ask her/him for the report on your mammogram. I watched the biopsy, asked many questions while the biopsy was being done, asked why they wanted more films, why an ultrasound and was told the truth, so I felt better. Cysts are very hard to feel all of the time, and my doctor told me years ago that I was the classic example for "lumpy breasts." Take care and make that phone call to your doctor and/or get a copy of your mammogram faxed to you. Hope you get good news soon.
is it abnormal not to enjoy sex?
sorry this is so personal...
I Have been in a relationship off and on for 6 years. I have never really enjoyed sex. With ANYONE.
And I dont mean because it's not spicy enough... or we dont try new things... not cause he doesn't know what he's doing...
This relationship is a good one. But I question whether he is the "right" one if I just simply dont enjoy sex. Mentally I want to, but physically I just don't respond like I did at the beginning. I know since Ive been with other people I physically respond to them because it is new and exciting. but i still dont really ENJOY it. but It's not like I hate sex or anything.
I'm really asking this to see if I am supposed to be with someone that I'm constantly gonna want to jump their bones. I know that sex is not everything in the relationship... and we have tried to make things better. We have good chemistry in all other ways.
No I was never molested, raped... or anything like that.
I just feel very abnormal and frustrated because I really love him and want to do everything with him... the sex is just like whatever to me. i still love kissing him all the time...
i dont know what else to say, im just really at a loss as to what my problem is. im under 30 years old so i feel like i should be enjoying it immensely.... :(
any thoughts?
I am a 33 y.o. female with an abnormal mammogram. sm
After the test the tech told me to wait so she can run the films by doc to see if everything was okay or if he needed more images. This was my 1st one. She returned and said she needed more images.
I waited 20 minutes. Then she said you'll be here for a while, he wants to order an ultrasound. I was so scared by this point. All by myself. No explanations. My breasts are "lumpy" which is why my GYN sent me there in the 1st place.
I rec'd my postcard in the mail that he wants to see me AGAIN for more images. Why? Anyone with this before? He didn't recommend me to a surgeon or anything. Just more images. I haven't heard a word from my GYN either and I'm sure she's gotten the results as it's been a while now. So, I'm going back next week for more images and I'm scared to death.
I have 3 young boys and a hopeless husband (I mean that in a good way) who can't really function without me. Anyways, please let me know what you "think." I just don't know. I do feel sharp pains in my left breast at times.
With it just being the upper limits of abnormal...sm
I wouldn't worry too much. Of course I would watch it. You should get one of those meters to check it at home. I don't know what to tell you about the insurance situation. That sucks.
This an abnormal situation your child
is being subjected to. There is no sense in replaying a video showing people upset and crying. If the person showing this wants to watch in the comfort of her home, fine but subjecting children to this is abuse but they probably does not know this. Not fully understanding who is showing the film but they need some personal assistance to help work through the grief and not put on smaller shoulders. Your husband should be ashamed for not backing you.
