I am doing an Operative Report and think the Dr is saying "riding low hernia" for the diagnosis. Could this be right?

When standing at end of day have a huge bulge in the right lower groin area (more toward suprapubic area than in the groin itself) This occurs mostly in the evening and can be felt when standing but not when lying flat. Made a PCP appt. early one morning and bulge was not felt, so told to "see a surgeon" and just worried if it could be something other than a hernia, i.e., vascular, etc. Have pain as well when I have walked or bent such as gardening during the day. Hazard of this profession - frightened to death of surgery (allergic to some types of anesthesia). Anyone else had this problem? TIA - just a little worried,

Hiatal hernia help - sm
A friend has a symptomatic hiatal hernia. She was told to use Prilosec, but that caused diarrhea. She recently had her gallbladder removed as well as a right mastectomy. She is to begin tamoxifen but is concerned because of possible of side effects especially with a hiatal hernia.
Has anyone successfully treated a h/h without RX medications? Any ideas would be most appreciated.
Thank you
umbilical hernia
My hernia popped up on a Friday evening. Saturday doctor on call said it was constipation. Monday went to clinic and was diagnosed with hernia. Saw surgeon on Tuesday, had surgery on Thursday, went home the same day. The hernia was incarcerated. Back to work in house on Monday. Pain was not too bad. The getting up and down out of bed was more difficult as was the restrictions on activities for six weeks. I am past the baby stage so I cannot help with that issue. Hernia pain can be very bad from all the ERs that we typed. I am severely overweight but did not have any recovery problems other that the restrictions on activities.

Hiatal hernia repair, anyone?
Has anyone here had surgery for a hiatal hernia? I am considering it, as I have been on Prevacid for way too long, and it doesn't even work now most of the time. The doctor said about a year or 2 ago that if it gets bigger, I would have to have surgery. He also said lose some weight. I am not that big, maybe 20 lbs. over. Anyways, I know that if you have the surgery, it can return again, so I just wanted to get opinions from anyone who may know or have already had this?
Thanks!
Any ladies had an umbilical hernia.....? sm
So I had a baby a year ago, gained about 30 pounds. Ever since, my belly button has just looked funny, like there is no hole and there is a big lump covering it. I thought I was just fat and didn't really think anything of it.... until it started to hurt. I went to see a new doc (my dr recently switched to ER, I LOVED him :(). Anyways, did not like this new lady at all, but she did tell me I in fact had an umbilical hernia and referred me to a surgeon. However, that is all she said. I see the surgeon on Tuesday. I am nervous, so if anyone has had one or knows anything, please share! I want to know if I will HAVE to have surgery, if I can workout (see 30 pound weight gain above haha) and if somehow this could affect a next pregnancy (like if it will come back/get worse with pregnancy). This dr didn't tell me anything, diagnosed me walked out before I could ask anything and then the nurse came in.
