Unless you can keep your cholesterol low through diet and exercise, a statin is a very important drug to take. If your cholesterol is high because you have bacon and eggs for breakfast, then by all means change your breakfast to some form of oat cereal and skim milk or soy milk, but if you are one of those people whose cholesterol is high even on a low-cholesterol diet, then a statins have been proven in many studies to be lifesaving meds. If they cause stomach upset, you might look into solutions like ginger tea or other foods that contain a lot of ginger.

Uses of Zocor

ZOCOR is a prescription drug that is indicated as an addition to diet for many patients with high cholesterol when diet and exercise are inadequate. For patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) and high cholesterol, ZOCOR is indicated as an addition to diet to reduce the risk of death by reducing coronary death; to reduce the risk of heart attack; to reduce the risk for undergoing cardiac procedures (coronary artery bypass grafting and percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty); and to reduce the risk of stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA).
