You never know

Your realtor is not going to make a cent if you don't buy the house. Therefore, if your realtor is putting you in touch with an inspector, red flags should be going up. Again, this could be a very professional agent and all is well, but then again it could be someone who wants you to buy the house and is getting a kickback or some other benefit from the inspector to give it a favorable review which would influence you to buy it, and buy it for a higher price than its actual worth resulting in a higher commission for the agent. It is then a win-win situation for the agent and the inspector. It is a conflict of interest and it should be illegal. Your agent has HIS best interest in mind, not yours.

When I worked with a buyer's agent in buying my current home, by law he could not make recommendations for home inspectors, electricians, plumbers, etc. What he did do was provide me with a list of such people within a 50 mile radius. I got the same results by searching the Yellow Pages. That's how it should be.

YOU need to look out for YOU, don't rely on somebody else to do it for you.

That being said, congratulations on buying a home on your own!
