area that they get $7-8/hr. Most make minimum, if that, but keep their tips. Oh, add in gas to save you the trip of lugging it home yourself, then yes $2 is insulting.

How much do you tip the pizza delivery guy?
I usually give them 3 or 4 dollars.
But I got to thinking with the cost of gas, maybe that's not enough? Don't they usually pay for their own gas?
How much do you tip?
I wish I MADE as much as a pizza delivery guy

pizza delivery tipping question
Hi all: I've recently noticed that a prominent pizza chain that begins with a D has started charging me a 1.50 delivery charge. I normally tip the delivery guy anywhere between 3 and 6 depending on amount of order, weather conditions, etc. I'm wondering who this 1.50 goes to and why are they charging me 1.50. If goes to the delivery guy, great, more power to him.
Also, do you tip higher on Superbowl Sunday? Just curious. TIA
Pizza for us too (delivery) - my cuboards are bare
Been bare all week. Tired of meals consisting of popcorn, potato chips, or buttered rice (nothing else, just buttered rice), and other "non-meal" items.
Glad the weekend is here to do grocery shopping.
Kids at grandma's for me too! Pizza, pizza, pizza!
Yay.
Is gas still high where you live? $2.45 to 2.90 in lower NY state. nm

I live near Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. Things are high here. But that's

I think it's all in the delivery --
start with your parents first (i'm assuming their still with you). They're usually the most understanding of these situations. Explain that you're simply strapped for cash, but would love to have everyone come together at your place for dinner. Suggest to your parents (if they're on board with you) that the others want to exchange gifts, they can meet at someone else's place later for that. I don't see anything wrong with it as long as everyone knows up front that you're not exchanging gifts.
If you get Chinese food delivery, use the
I save every packet of sauces from my Chinese food delivery. Whether I'm cooking bar-b-q (ribs, chicken, pork chops, etc), or baking whatever or grilling, broiling, or boiling, I can usually throw together something from those packets depending on what flavoring I want to achieve. My dad taught me not to look at recipes, but just to think about how flavors work together and trust your guts. That doesn't work for everyone, but I've made some delicious dinners when I didn't have any other seasonings in the house but those Chinese food packets :) Try to remember to balance out a sweet with a sour (or salty) flavor. I remember how I was horrified when he put cinnamin in a pot roast once, but it was the best roast I ever had. He had been doing it for years...he just hid it from me. Once I knew he used it, I enjoyed it more than I ever had!
Usually PPD onset is after 2-3 weeks of delivery. sm
I have had both OB and psychiatric nursing and the textbooks suggest that it tends to not be PPD unless it is 2-3 weeks after delivery, that is how long it takes the serotonin and dopamine levels to change for depression after birth. Sounds like she has a case of post partum blues (not same as depression) as well as a case of her child not being born with things according to her "ideal baby" that she had been anticipating for 9 months. Call her, stop by, research the medical issue and be there to listen and offer facts if she wants to talk about it. Otherwise, don't treat her different than you did pre-baby or you won't seem sincere.
Does anyone ever use Schwan't food delivery?
My neighbor uses it every week. She works as a nurse but does like to 18hr shifts twice a week. She has 9yr old twins, a 4yr old, and an 18mo old. She home schools her children. He DH works for the railroad.
I am just curious if it really is a benefit and worth the money. Maybe for that size family it is more practical for them but maybe not for a smaller family. Is the food ready made and frozen, how much work is there in fixing a meal, etc.
Anyone familar with this? Just wondering!
Perineal massages are done during delivery sm
most of the time if the doc is willing to take the time to do them. Do NOT ask for an episiotomy. I had 3 degree laceration from it with a 6 lb 5 oz child and still have tenderness in that spot today from 17 years ago, which interfers with relations.
To tear or not to tear depends on a lot. Depends on your control, the nurses hollering for you to "push" with all your might, which makes you tear, the doc's techniques, and how healthy your body tissues are. If you are a smoker, your tissues will tear more easily as they will if you are unhealthy and don't take care of yourself. Your body is what you put into it. Our tissues are made to stretch and if given the time to do so, it will. I have personally delivered over 200+ babies as a midwife and have performed an episiotomy ONCE in 200+ deliveries. By control, I mean when that "ring of fire/burning" hits, the cause of that is your skin stretching. This is when you want to go slow and easy with the pushing and allow it time to stretch (of course provided baby is stable with heart tones/color, doc's call). Look at it like this...if you take a water balloon and try to push it through a paper towel roll by shoving it in there, it will eventually break and bust due to pressure. If you work the balloon through the roll, it will go through there without busting or breaking. It just takes time to adapt to the shape/figure to fit through it. Your baby is the same way coming through your vaginal opening. Allow it time to mold the baby's head and stretch your skin around the baby's head and you will not tear nor need an epiostomy and I don't care how big the baby is.
Good luck to you and educate yourself ~ that is the key to any successful delivery. Email me if you wish.
Although I am a fan of not having epidurals, leave that option open. If you get to a rough spot and want it, get it. If you are handling labor well, keep on trucking without it. The hardest part of labor and most intolerable is the 2nd stage, which is the shortest stage, and means it will all be over soon. Get your body active if they will let you and you will be able to tolerate pain much easier than lying in a bed thinking of nothing but the pain. It is more of a mind control thing. Anyone can do it if they put their minds to it and want it bad enough.
An instrumental delivery makes an episiotomy necessary..sm
Did you have to 'ask' for it?
I'd pay extra for shipping at this point if they can guarantee delivery. nm

On our takeout Chinese restaurant menu - We delivery! lol

So go over and have pizza..what's the big deal?
Not like she asked you to plan it or have it at your place and cook a meal. Maybe I'm not understanding.
California pizza
I always wondered if they were any good... now I can try one
Never had mac and cheese pizza, but
I have my grandmother's recipe that we grew up on of baked mac and cheese. So much better than the box varieties.
If you're talking about Pizza Hut then....sm
the $1.50 fee goes to the restaurant to help pay the base salary for the drivers. I know because I asked the manager when they started this practice a few months ago. I usually give a 20% tip as they always deliver pizzas to my house within 20 minutes and faster than the internet says they'll deliver when I place the order.
does pizza hut begin with the letter D?

I like my pizza stone and can opener the best.
Any stone is nice if you bake. The items I use and LOVE the most are their spatulas. Everything is kinda pricey. They do have things in all price ranges though. I also like their cook books. I have never been to a power party! Have fun.
Pizza in a home over. Not hot enough. Tasty, but sm
never as good as baked in a real pizza oven.

The pizza place we order from
I have assumed that would go to the driver.
Pizza is every kids favorite!
I have used the pie irons before but never thought of anything other than the desserts or grilled cheese. Pizza sounds like an easy and healthy lunch for the kids that they will actually eat and can help make. Thanks so much!
Homemade Pizza Dough
Does anybody have a recipe for a good pizza dough recipe that does not take a long time to make?
Also what do you put on your homemade pizza?

Uncooked whole tomatoes on pizza
We have that here. I actually love it. It's like a bruchetta.
My ultimate favorite pizza
Is the Pizza Margarita (sp?). It's the one where the crust is brushed with EVOO and then just topped with slices of mozzarella, fresh tomatoes and fresh leaves of basil. I adore it, and would you believe cannot find it in the central California area?
The only regional foods where I live are pretty much raisins and grapes *sigh*
We're more famous for our crime rate than our cuisine, lol!
The pizza I had in Buffalo was supposedly
pepperoni. The whole tomatoes were supposedly the sauce. I love, love, love tomatoes, just not what tastes like whole, uncooked on my pizza.
Never buy frozen pizza from the store
I have never found one that does not taste like eating a piece of cardboard. I have a Johnny's Pizza probably as close as the nearest store and my goodness, what terrific pizza but I also love my pepperoni and green olive stromboli. Yum, yum.
California Pizza Kitchen
makes a very good frozen pizza; for a while I was hooked on the 5-cheese and tomato. You can just see the calories dripping off of it.
I do live in Arkansas - my parents live up in Branson so I'm in Missouri quite often!

Calling all you animal lovers - live and let live or intervene? - sm
I have a dilemma. I am an animal lover and have something I cannot come to a conclusion about. At a restaurant where I eat lunch every Friday with a friend of mine, I have noticed a young male kitty hanging around outside looking for food. This past week he ran up to my friend and rubbed her legs and quietly meowed. I purposely did not try to pet him because I knew I would get attached and ignored him. Well, ever since then I find myself thinking about him and wanting to rescue him. Meanwhile, I already have 4 inside cats (2 rescues, 2 Maine Coons) and hubby really does not want another cat in the house because a few years ago I promised we would never have more than 4 (had up to 5 at one point previously). I actually have a huge screened deck he could stay on indefinitely because I do not believe in letting cats run loose for their own safety. I could provide plenty of food, a warm place to sleep, and veterinary care. At some point I would even probably work him into our household, but I just cannot do it at the moment. Just not sure I would be doing right by that kitty because I am sure he would be upset and confused for a good while as to where he was and what was going on, but is that better than being hungry and cold? I know there are lots of animal lovers out there. What does everyone think??
She's paying for it
You can be sure she is paying for the extra attention. Also, the hospital likely insisted that all that security be provided, not because they are necessarly worried about Britney but about people trying to get near her. The last thing they want is for her to get harmed while she's in their institution.
Usually if there is a VIP patient, they don't keep the chart all in one place - they parse it out in 3 or more different locations under lock and key.
Britney has always gotten that kind of treatment - when she was in Mousekeeters, everyone had to leave the gym where she worked out when she came for her exercise. Britney is a little snot, always has been even as a young teenager - turns on the sweetness for the cameras. Millions of people have bought her act.
However, I do feel for her in her present situation and hope she can turn her life around now.
LOL, I like pizza in Italy...thin crust...sm
But there are many NY foods I crave (live in the south now)......actually entire neighborhoods I crave...Chinatown, Little Italy, Germantown, etc.
Turned out to be Domino's pizza - which I ordered
I tell you, it's a tough world!
Will watch, but no party..maybe some pizza and wings...nm

cookies, home made pizza..sm
Go to the www.pamperedchef.com web site and find your stone under products. They will give recipes.
Is the flat stone? Cookies come out beautiful, Frozen french fries or tater tots, make your own pizza using frozen bread dough.. there are more options if you have the stone with the sides.

Super easy homemade pizza
Very yummy and under $10 Serves 3-4

I once called in a pizza order to be picked up
and the guy on the phone said off-handedly....I don't need to charge you the extra dollar since it is not being delivered. I asked if that dollar went to the delivery person and he sheepishly said no. Really ticked me off.
Our pizza guys get $7.50 an hour plus tips.
I don't feel bad at $2 tips. He's making more than min wage here.
If he wants more money, he needs to get into a better job.
What is your favorite frozen pizza from the store?
What frozen pizza do you like? Alot of times we'll get a pizza on Friday night. Figuring a frozen is cheaper than pick up?
It's really hard not to do a drive through when you're running around on the weekends. Just wondering what others do to help cut down on the cost of eating out.
It's just me and 2 kids, 8 & 9 yr old.
Me again, tell you what I did about paying a bill for a dog
like I said above, huge animal lover. I have 3 furkids but a friend of mine whose son is a druggie, was not seeing about his dog. The dog needed an operation for a growth on his foot. I paid over $1000.00 for that and now I buy my newly adopted doggie its medicine each month. I never give my friend money because want the money to go for the doggie, not drugs for her kid but you can believe I am seeing the doggie is comfy!
Okay, I don't mind paying
to make sure everything is in order! Thanks for all the advice!

paying for college
I have two sons in college right now ...one out-of-state, one in a private university. They both end up getting paid to go to school because they have so many scholorships. Did the high school counselor help me find any....NO. We are in a small town and I got no help from the school or town. Neither one of my sons played any sports...but I will tell you what I found out...what is more important is that your child is involved in school and the community. They don't care if they have ever worked a day in their life...they want to know what they have done in school grade wise, and community wise. Even just ringing the bells for the Salvation Army at Chrismtas time will earn you a scholorship. I filled out over 56 scholorships for both my sons to go to school for free...you just have to learn as you go how to word answers on the scholorships. We are not poor but we are not rich...but we made to much money to get any FAFSA help.
paying off bills
In our case, we refinanced through someone in our church who had a refinance company. It included all our credit cards and no, we did not have to cut them up. We still have them and DO NOT EVER USE THEM. It also included paying off our cars. The reason we had so much debt is because I wasn't able to get enough work at that time, now it is great and I can only say we pray and God has blessed us above measure, more than we deserve.
