pick weeds! Amazing. I remember one time recently when I was really PMDDing I wanted to rip my family's head off (each member one by one) but sat outside on the step, in the dark and heard the leaves move in the breeze. I sat out there for I don't know how long and I contained myself and felt more peaceful. It was not weed picking (it was at night), bust just being outside of the house in the cool air listening to the nothing of nature really helped.
I do think with this job I feel guilty to leave the house. Or maybe if I do leave I will never come back, LOL. I did get a red schwinn for Christmas from my husband (a hint to get out of the house I guess), and every day I think of a reason not to get out there. We are so lucky to work at home, I wonder why I dont just do it?
Thanks for all of your suggestions everybody. I am going to make a list of all these things and together I bet I will feel much better. I do already just for your helping me here. Thank you so much! :)

Your Mum plant....
...is that like code for pubes? 'cause I totally can interpret the flag pole to mean whang, but the whoo-haw doesn't look nothing like a chrystanthemum....
Seriously though...if the dude has any heart problems, don't buy it.
lol, I definitely don't think the little girl was a *plant*....
but I do agree she may need a psychiatrist! Yikes.
Plant wash
I run mine through a short cycle in the top rack of the dishwasher.
Help with aloe plant I inherited, not by choice!! sm
I inherited an aloe plant - suckered into taking it is more like it. What kind of light does it want/need. Does it get watered as I do the cactus or more often since I assume it is a succulent. It has 12-inch long leaves or whatever they are that are starting to wilt down instead of standing up. I live in northern MN so don't have real hot sun. Right now it is in a south window and gets direct sunlight about 1-1/2 hours per day.
Any plant medics out there? Appreciate your help.

Refinish plant vinyl floors....
It has been six years since we put in plank vinyl (wood look) floors and they no longer shine like they use to. Any recommendations on what to use and can you use anything? Thanks
how about a nice floral plant for outdoors?
When we bought our first house, we needed a lot of landscaping done. My gram bought us an outdoor trash can. Those things are kind of pricy and new homeowners don't always have a lot of extra cash. Plus, if she lived in an apartment, she probably doesn't have one. Of course, if you opt with that, I would send her a gift card from Wal-Mart with a note attached as to the purpose. I love getting gift cards. Add a personal family photo if you don't just want to give the gift card or a nice candle.
Yes, but abortion would be only taking the budding tomatoe, not the whole plant.

FDA Warns Procter and Gamble of problems at Olay plant
WASHINGTON, May 5 (Reuters) - U.S. regulators found manufacturing problems at a Procter & Gamble Co (PG.N) plant in Puerto Rico that makes both cosmetics and over-the-counter drugs, a letter released on Tuesday said.
The manufacture and processing of over-the-counter drugs at the Olay LLC plant did not meet federal standards, the Food and Drug Administration said in an April 24 letter. Also, several cosmetic products "have been prepared, packed or held under insanitary conditions," the FDA said.
The drugs and cosmetics were made under conditions "whereby they may have become contaminated with filth, or whereby they may have been rendered injurious to health," the FDA said.
A Procter & Gamble representative could not immediately be reached for comment.
The FDA letter was posted on the agency's website at the link below:
In my garden
Rose of Sharon's are about done blooming, butterfly bush is about spent because of the heat, day lilies were done blooming weeks ago! I do have one of the popular new rose bushes but I think the heat is affecting it in that it looks healthy but is not producing buds.
I cannot grow a geranium with a plug nickel. I have begonias that are doing well in pots. Marigolds do well and a purple salvia which are pretty together. I do have some petunias but my schedule has been so hectic the last few weeks that I haven't been able to take good care of them and pinch of the spent blooms. I think the heat is taking its toll on them too.
Thanks for sharing. Enjoy your 75-degree whether. The temp here is over 100 today with heat index of around 108! We desparately need rain.
Me either. I have a big garden tub
and I resent the space it takes up. What I want to do is get it out and move the washer and dryer into that space. One small tub in the house is enough for me. So I'd say most people will care more about the shower and not care about fanciness of a tub. It should look good, take up little space, and be easy to clean. A clawfoot would mean you'd have to mop under and behind it. Not great.
We are also trying to get a garden going as well.
I am also been trying to plan my menu on what is on special.
Have always had a garden. Usually have (sm)
my menu based around what we have ready in the garden. Have green onions, lettuce and radishes now. Peas coming on soon and strawberries will be turning soon. As more stuff comes on I find I buy less and less from the grocery store and usually either can or freeze the surplus. My chickens enjoy any spoiled produce thus cutting down on my feed bills for them. I have always enjoyed these things, but this year I will really appreciate the money I will be saving as well.
Hope all of us have bumper crops this year.
I used to keep it in the garden tub!
The silly cat still made a mess, but at least the dogs couldn't get to it, even if they got past the baby gate in the hall.
I would have a huge garden - nm

Herb garden
My friends planted a herb garden in thiers. They built a square flower garden probably 6 x 6 or so, lined with 4 x 4 timbers or something of the such, planting colorfull flowers at ground level but in the tub they planted a herb garden. Oh it smelled so good. Chives, mint, sage, thyme, rosemary, lemon balm (made the most relaxing tea from those leaves, just pick and steep).
It truly is exciting at the Garden
Just wanted to add that when I was down on the floor the first day at breed judging I called my sister back home and she was amazed. She said, Oh my God, that sounds like so much fun! All around you could see people in seats, people standing, people all over the floor, cheering, etc. It is infectious in the best sense. The day goes by so quickly. Best In show has to be seen to be believed! They turn the lights way down and you can hear a pin drop. When the Golden Retriever went around I literally thought the place would come down. When the Dalmation, Boomer, one for nonsporting a woman about three seats from us shot up out of her seat and cheered. What fun, what a magical night to see over 20,000 people standing and cheering for man's best friend. I am so excited just talking about it. Thanks for your interest. As you see, I could go on and on. I have memories that will last forever! I tape it every year and have several years to watch.
oh drats, no garden.
just weeds and dog doo-doo.
Envy those who grow, tho.
planting a garden
I have planted a garden this year. Also as other posters I am trying to plan my shopping around coupons and store sale ads. I live in a rural area so I am planning more day trips to get things done and not running out 2-3 times a week. If possible, its done in one trip on Saturday or Sunday. I am also planning on getting a laundry line outside because I have heard it can have a significant impact on your utilities if you dry clothes outside as opposed to the dryer and started letting my dishwasher air dry instead of heat dry. Every little bit will adds up these days. Not as many weekend trips being planned for this summer either. Those that are being considered are old fashioned tent camping.
Fresh lettuce from the garden!
Luv that stuff. Your sammy sounds delicious! Yummmm... TX for sharing...
Interesting front garden
Interesting use of wooly thyme.
Summer garden blahs
Any gardners out there? Here in Indiana we are in the midst of this heat wave. Our temps have run in the high 90's to over 100 for about the last two weeks. My flower beds really have the blahs! Any suggestions what to put in them right now? I know mums are right around the corner but a little too early for that. Any suggestions of something that will come up each year that brightens the garden in Aug-Sept. My beds were so pretty this spring and early summer. I'd like to hear your suggestions!
I may try a veggie garden this year too.
in the past i have not had time to keep up with one but i think i will this year while working at home for MQ. maybe you have tried everything for your garden eaters, don't know but I have heard you can sprinkle black pepper all over the garden and it will keep a lot of animals out bc they do not like the smell. you have to reapply with rain but it might be worth a try.
i normally have flowers galore! but i may do some veggies this year as you said they are getting SO expensive in the stores. i have had great luck with barrel gardens in the past and they look really nice on a patio.
I'm jealous that you have garden food ready now...sm
Good luck keeping the critters out so you can eat it all yourself!
garden, fewer trips to the store - sm
Watching the sale papers for really good deals and planning meals around those. Safeway and Albertsons usually have a few 10 for $10 sales every week. I will max out those sales on a couple items if we use a lot of them.
Trying to stretch a gallon of milk is getting more expensive too. Powdered milk is skyrocketing along with everything else but it still does make a gallon last a little longer so will keep doing that. We go through at least a gallon a day, sometimes more.
Telling the kids that I am not the local taxi service for their friends and cannot provide them transportation here and there all the time. My own kids will have to work harder to combine their schedules to cut back on needless trips too.
If one is one place and another somewhere else, I will only drop off or pick up ONCE.
Used to be that the kids would have me running 4-5 trips a day. No more. If they can't leave or be picked up at the same time, too bad.
I fertilize my garden with kelp and magnesium
And I take a supplement. It is wonderful stuff. I filter my water also and take vitamins, but guilty of not giving up diet sodas!
There are a lot of yoga positions for thyroid also that you can really feel it working!
Think you had a large garden or orb-weaving spider there! Scary

Why not hit your local garden center to see what's blooming in pots

Deer and rabbits especially think my garden is an outdoor diner. (sm)
Have tried multiple things, can keep rabbits out of green beans, peas and lettuce until they get larger and not so palatable by using chicken wire bent over the rows and pegged down. The deer seem to prefer to just rip smaller branches off the fruit trees and really seem to hit the melons hard.
One of the things that I have tried and works pretty well for me is Irish Spring tied in the branches of fruit trees. I suppose it is the smell they don't like.
Anything else you come up with, please share.
The produce in the store isn't going to do anything but get higher with strikes, etc.
Large garden containers = excellent idea! :)
.
Meatloaf, baked potatoes, cukes and tomatoes out of the garden. (sm)
Maybe if I get finished with taking the grandkids to their extra-curricular activities early enough I will bake a cake. Been hungry for chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting.
Ohhh how I miss cornfields and fresh garden tomatoes!
They don't grow very well in the desert...but I also don't miss the humidity in the summer and the "bird size" mosquitoes!
LOL
mine brought me a very alive green garden snake
and deposited it at my feet in the kitchen once.
Buy a bike, grow a garden, get rid of cable, take a second part time job

Call your local garden center for advice. Any construction nearby

Dh just told me a something
before it got back home. He took my oldest daughter to an out of town football game. Me and the baby stayed home as it is really too cold for her to be out. Well, he told me that this gal (recently divorced and hot to trot) came and sat by him and they were enjoying the game together. He said people were staring. All I said was "okay." Okay, I need to keep my head. I should just trust Dh but we are having marital problems and the subject of divorce has come up but I thought we were going to put it behind us and work it out. Help me not blow up and blow it out of proportion. I can sometimes loose my head.
That's what they were told - sm
That the repair would be so obvious, it would be like night and day. I don't know, I guess if it were me, I would definitely want to know just exactly how much my premium would be going up before I made a decision. They do have the option of just havig their LR done for 200-300 dollars though, versus having the entire carpeting replaced and paying a higher premium. So, in reality, they will be paying for the carpeting anyway, like a poster above said.
He just told her (sm)
that he was about to compliment her, and that she could ditch the surprised act and just say thank you. He said something like that a couple of times, in other words to not act so surprised she's getting a compliment and like, really? really? me? and just say thank you, and that's what she did.
She really sang great last night, like she does just about every time.
Boy was I just told - NOT - sm
I just got a call from the mother of this girl who comes over now and then telling me that I am a horrible hostest and how dare I make her daughter feel uncomfortable.
OH PUH-LEEEEEEZ!
I'm laughing, hoping this means we won't see this brat OR her nasty witch of a mother darken our doorstep again.
So this is what happened. The girl comes over to "hang out". I was up from my desk moving a load of laundry from washer to dryer and when I walked back into my office, there she is, typing away on MSN messenger talking to friends.
It is a well known rule in this house by EVERYONE, including the kids that come over, that they do NOT even look in the direction of my computer because it is a company computer and my income depends on it. There are TWO other computers that are for family use. STAY OUT! Clear enough? Apparently not to this little brat.
I came back into my office and told her she needed to get away from my desk, telling her for the millionth time that it is my work desk only. I was nice at this point but not happy.
She then tells me "Just a second, I'm talking." That's when I blew a gasket!
I said, "Get out. Go home. Now." Very firm but not yelling and screaming like I would have loved to do. She turns around and makes this face at me, then pushes my chair back really hard as she is getting up and it bounces off my bookshelf, giving it a good rattle. So as she was walking out the door I simply told her, do not come back. You are not welcome.
Then her witchy mother called. I couldn't care less what the hag was yelling about so I just interrupted her and said, "HEY! She's 15. She should know better than to act like that in someone's home and if YOU don't teach her that BEFORE she does that somewhere else, this will NOT be the last time she gets the boot!" And hung up on her.
My kids were hiding in the hall giggling as all this took place. They never had the guts to tell her to get lost.
Before anyone tries putting a guilt trip on me... this kid is FAR from neglected, comes from a nice home, parents are well off, just SPOILED beyond belief and she believes that everyone should jump when she says jump. I AM NOT PLAYING ALONG!
I told her she should have said
They wouldn't like you either!
What nerve, what stupidity on his part, what ignorance. I am going to address how I feel about cats personally in a separate post and comment on some of the responses I have received. I am very appreciative of the responses and the dialogue back and forth. It is in some way healing, at least to me, and I hope to others.
tell her exactly what you told us
and she needs to be aware of the STDs out there..They think it will never happen to them, but it can...that is why talking with a GYN or nurse practitioner would be a good thing to give her pamphlets and brochures and also keep the lines of communication open between the two of you.
I was always told not to mix
your alcohols (wine coolers, beer, cocktails, etc), but more importantly don't break the seal or you'll be in the ladies' room all night.
Have Fun!!!
Perhaps I should have told the
whole story, but just wanted thoughts based on the information I did provide and the assumption that it did happen. What would you do if it were your child and you were certain that this is what was said?
Thanks to those who have responded. I look forward to seeing what others have to say as well.
Told her that already.

What I told
I have three - told them the truth. It worked for my daughters, worked some for my son. One of the big issues was "parties" and I just said no. They asked why. I told them that I knew them and did not think they would find it especially fun to watch their friends and themselves drink and ralph on other people's shoes. I actually described a few parties I had been to and all the graphic details. They believed me and decided not to go to parties until they were old enough to leave on their own power whenever they wanted. I just told all of them the graphic truth (my mother did not tell me and let me learn everything on my own - that was not such a good idea either in my opinion and she could have saved me a lot of grief if she had only spoken up. My son did drink when he was 18, but only at someone's home and says he did not drive. I believe him because he is now 37 and has no reason not to tell me the truth anymore. So, tell what you feel comfortable with. I think parents can have a big impact on their children when they are honest.
Have you told them what you told us?
I'd lay it right out to them like you just did here. Maybe they truly have no clue as to how it makes you feel.
He just told you
that he's looking for other options. He was being honest with you - he looked and hasn't found anything YET. Get a lawyer, get out of the marriage, and get on with your life.
My ex-MIL told the ex that she would

When my MIL first told me.....
I told her that my SIL was lying. MIL said she thought so too until the doctor said she was pregnant. Still....no ultrasound or anything performed. Still holding out for this to be a false positive.
I have been told that once a dog sm
tastes blood the urge will never stop. I have no idea if this is true, but it seems to make sense in some cases.
I was told that
in the morning is the best time because the pregnancy hormone is most concentrated during that time.
