Found several places on line that say...sm..
Do not machine wash, do not tumble dry, and do not dry clean. You probably need to vacuum the heck out of it with the crevice tool from your vacuum then maybe you can Fabreze it to death and leave it out in the sun to dry. I wouldn't use it on my own bed if it still has odors of any kind. Get your face right down on it and breathe deep! They're usually used for bedbound patients that are often incontinent. I think I'd still get a mattress pad or cover and put over it, too, even if you do get it fairly clean. Good luck!
I got it at QT in Austell.... you can check Atlanta gas prices....sm
at http://www.atlantagasprices.com - I'm seeing prices all around $1.99 to $2.04 posted on there from consumers.
I wrote a $10 check to Wal-Mart and turned in to a $40 mistake so far.

Here is what happened.  When you write a check at this Wal-Mart here, they have you sign something and give the check back.   I stuck it back in my purse.  They are supposed to void.  I was cleaning at my purse that day and paying bills at the same time.  I wrote a $250 to pay a loan.   I really don't know how it happened but I must have torn that one up and sent the $10 voided check to the loan.  A week later, i was looking at my acct online.  I notice that that $10 I had written to Wal-Mart went through twice.  I called the bank and asked why.   They said, "oh, it looks like Wal-Mart double dipped." so I was refunded the money.  I don't know who refunded the money, was it the bank, Wal-mart, I don't know.  Anyway, I became concerned about why that 250 check didn't come in so I called that loan company.  They said $10 was credit to my acct.   I did not connect the 2 at the time.  I thought, 10, I don't write $10 to this acct.  The man told me he would look into it incase there was a mistake.  He called back the day later and said that was a  $10 originally written to Wal-Mart and we cashed it.  So I called the bank and told them.  They then had me go to wal-mart because they said I owed them $10 back.  I go to wal-mart and they say no it is the Telecheck, company they use for this service and they thanked me for trying to clear it up and said Telecheck will be contacting me.  So I get a letter in the mail saying I owe $40 plus I am not allowed to write checks anywhere that uses their service until I pay that $40 back.

What scares me is that that check said VOID on it and that other bunch was still able to cash it and get their money, which I think was dishonest of them...also my bank let it go through.  Now what if I were to loose a bunch of those type checks and someone cashes it AGAIN.  Man I would be out a lot.  Do you think any of this is right?  TIA.

check out orientaltrading.com; has lots of pre-made kits you do yourself and good prices. nm

I only have the mattress pad, not the whole mattress, and it is heavenly. sm
I have lifelong back pain, and the memory foam is outstanding. I can't afford the full mattress, but one of these years I will. Until then, the 2-inch mattress pad has made a world of difference.
Wal-Mart does offer health insurance to their workers. Wal-Mart pays part and the employee SM
pays part of the premium.  Just like other companies do.
mattress question

I saw an advertisement for some type of bed that showed a woman sitting on the bed alongside a glass of wine, and the point was that the mattress absorbed movement to such a degree that you could sit down on the bed and the glass wouldn't spill. A newly married friend of mine has trouble sleeping in the same bed with her husband because his movement disturbs her all night, so I was trying to remember which mattress that was so I could suggest it to them. If you remember, please let me know, and if you have one, please let me know how you like it! Thanks.

Simmons has a mattress that is
advertised for that problem. Sure enough, when we went to the bed store, that's what the salesman directed us to. DH is a flopper, and he's big. Light doesn't wake me up, noise rarely wakes me up, but having hubby flopping around on a mattress that transmits motion sure does.
Mattress shopping
Anyone have an opinion?  Pillow top?  Memory foam?  I currently have moderately priced pillow top that I bought last winter that just goes on top of the mattress.  I have been able to fluff it up until just recently, but there doesn't seem to be any more fluffing to be done.
Mattress shopping
Hi, had a pillow top (trying to give away, are you close) and husband hated it.  I liked the snuggling sensation but he just complained and complained.  Finally had to shut him up and bought a standard mattress. UGH   Kept the mattress in a latex wrap the entire time, it is looking for a new home before going to the dump.
Mattress odor
OK, this is a little gross, but I know you ladies are a fountain of knowlege about all kinds of things, so I'm hoping you can help.  My adult niece just left after spending 2 months living with us after a rough spot in her life.  She slept in my college daughter's room in her bed. There is a bad smell in the room, and I can't get rid of it even after airing out the room for 2 days.  I have traced it to the mattress, mainly at the foot of the bed.  She had a cat in there with her but it smells nothing like cat urine, and there are no stains at all on the mattress.  I honestly think it's some kind of weird body odor, probably from the feet, and seems to have permeated an area of the mattress.  Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do to try to get rid of this odor, short of dumping the mattress?  I'll do it as a last resort, but I hate to spend the money to get a new one.  HELP!
We just bought a new mattress - sm
It's a Sealy. Can't recall exactly which one but lower end on the price bracket. I think it was about 1000.00 for the mattress and box springs.

We had one of those air beds for a long time and I will never ever recommend one of those.

My husband also has back problems and needed a comfy mattress so he wanted that number bed thing. It was horrible. I would wake up with lower back pain that would stick with me half the day. His pain was worse too.

Not to mention the fact that his side of the bed sprung a leak so after about the first year or so, there was no adjusting it to a comfort zone. Had to pump it all the way up and by morning, it was completely flat and he was laying in a hole inside the foam frame. It was cheaply made, uncomfortable, and a HUGE rip off.

Go for a Sealy, it's worth it. I'm loving it.
Last night I patched my air mattress with....sm
I patched my air mattress with a grain of uncooked rice and some Gorilla Glue! LOL!! I put the rice in, put gobs of Gorilla Glue on it - it was a huge hole, and held a peice of duct tape on there a little while, then left it that way all night.  This morning it was sealed! We refilled it all the way with air and it is holding just fine!
Two come to mind, a lamb's wool mattress topper - sm
for my mom that I knew she really, really wanted so I saved up (over $200 and I was in college at the time so not a lot of $ to go around), sent in a money order to Sharper Image and got it. The other was this great antique RCA mirror for my DH (he collects antique RCA signs and such), very unique, he loved it, and it hangs in our living room now.
Good advice was given here. Suggest vet check-up for kitty needs vet check. sm
I've had 2 females over the years who developed stones/crystals in urine or UTIs.  Both of them started spraying inappropriately.  Never had a female spray inappropriately other than in these instances.  They go into spasm and can't help themselves.  If it is a urinary problem, eventually you may see slight pink-tinged spray if it gets that far untreated due to the irritation from constantly trying to pee.  One more thought is if the kitty is not sick, maybe the other cat won't let her use the litter box for some reason.  Maybe set up another box for her.
gas prices
$2.21 in south Miss; lowest I've seen was around holidays, down to $2.09.
Prices!!!
Where I live(S. GA) too they get out early like 6 a.m. and are through by dinner or shortly after. Some advertise, some do signs and some both, just according to how hard you are to find. I think it is important to have a price on everything! That's my pet peeve. Some people won't ask if it is not priced. Don't set your prices too high. My mother gets upset that she cannot get her money out of something, especially if she bought it at a sale. I try to tell her some money is better than none. Her regular stuff we do at yard sale, other stuff we do on Ebay. Price big items where you might go down a little bit and smaller stuff where you might be willing to deal. If you will let a dresser go for 50 put 60 on it. The fun in buying is bartering with the seller for a deal. People will buy more if you give them a deal. I say quantity over quality. We go through and put a tag on our stuff the night before. You can find garage sale stickers prepriced at an office store or somewhere like Walmart, priced from .25 to $10 with blank tabs to. You can also get color coded ones and just make a poster board and say Green dot 0.25, Red dot .75, yellow $10, etc. this saves a lot of confusion and is easier to count up. Happy sales. Offer some cookies or cupcakes, keeps kids occupied while moms shop!
Gas prices

$3.26/gallon at Sam's Club in Palm Desert, CA

Gas prices
Paying $2.75/gallon at the Kroger Store in South Texas.  Get either 10 cents or 3 cents discount which is tied to grocery purchases.  Glad to be working at home.
gas prices
Um, $3.99 in San Francisco!
Gas prices.

Really getting difficult.  I am grateful I work at home.  A month ago here in S.C. gas price was 3.17 a gallon and not it is almost 3.70 a gallon.  It gives me pause to think.  There are more contractors in Iraq than troops fighting and dying, and that does not begin to account the wounded, disabled.

Really.  If Colonel Sanders was elected president and the price of chicken went up over 80%, would that give you pause to think?

Gas prices here in NY State
It's anywhere from $3.19-$3.25 a gallon. We're going away for a few days next weekend and I can only imagine how much it'll cost to fill up (Usually around $60.00).
Heads up on gas prices!
One of my friends called today and gas in Marion, Illinois is over $5.00 a gallon. I guess it's expected to go up overnight. You may want to call your local gas stations and see. Her local Walmart station was going up at least $1.00/gallon within an hour of when she had talked to them.
Wow, our gas prices have been steadily going down
The other day I paid $3.67.

haircut prices

$35 to $40; less if you don't have it blow-dried.  For the works (cut, color, highlights), about $150. Toner may be more, depending on the salon.  Tip is 20%, & don't forget the shampoo tech.

These are Houston prices.

Wow, it's interesting to see the different prices sm
Thanks for sharing your info on the hair cuts.  I'm from Missouri and they are running on an average of $20 for wash, cut and dry.  I never really knew if I was tipping enough or not.
Not just gas prices, but the recession sure will.
We are staying home this year and saving every dime we can. Our fed and state refunds went right into savings, and our "stimulus" rebate will too.
First rule: Know your prices. sm
Second rule: Then again, it won't save you any money to drive all around unless you are making substantial purchases. If just one item is a little higher at Wal-Mart or the grocery store where you already are shopping, might as well go ahead and get it then. I shop first at the Dollar Store. Love Top Job and can't always find it anywhere else. Also, those old timey remedies include vinegar, cheapest and proven to kill as many germs as alcohol and bleach. Back in the day, I remember the ladies starting out the wringer washer (yes, I am that old) with the whites, then running those out to the side and reusing the water. I have actually wished a few times I had a wringer washer, especially after a hurricane. Then they started rinsing the clothes using the same water as long as they could for the rest of the stuff.

Make a list and stick to it, no impulse buying, take your coupons, maybe include a small cooler or thermal bag in your vehicle especially in the summer.

Check out the new lightbulbs, LED's and these new fluorscents, but beware of mercury in broken fluorescents if you are of childbearing age or have small children about, especially if one breaks. These are for heavy duty areas, the "light that is almost always on". From what I understand, there is no real saving if you just turn it on to get something, then turn it right back off. I had motion detection lights outside, but had to unplug it, too much breeze here on the coast and the trees constantly set them off. Almost choked on that light bill.

Some economist on TV was saying to shop the perimeters of the store and avoid the center aisles, this for both money and health reasons.

See something really cute and not too expensive at wal-mart? Started telling myself I bet I could get 50cents for that in a garage sale in 6 months. Not doing the impulse buying will save a small fortune; it really adds up. Don't look at the stuff while you are checking out, either.

Check out America's Test Kitchen, not long ago they had a program on making your own pizza in 30 minutes. If you have kids, that can save you a fortune, that is about the most expensive thing out there.

my grandmother made the most wonderful soup - from a soup bone and leftovers. She never threw away leftover veggies; they went into the freezer in little bags until needed.

That is another thing, cut back on the meat and up the veggies.

I do splurge on some things. I usually have canned chicken ready for cheater pot pie and frozen pie crusts. All 3 of my daughter-in-laws use that recipe now, great with leftover chicken or turkey, another thing to be frozen when left over.

If you do eat out, make it during the day when prices are down.

maybe I gave you one or two things anyway. Good luck.
Grocery prices

I haven't done any baking in almost two years, but decided to try to get going for this Christmas. So, I get my list all ready and get my fanny out the door and to the market.....just to give myself a heart attack!! A small jar of honey, store brand, $6.00, a large can of Crisco, almost $7.00!! Flour, $3.50! I wanted to make some Italian annisette cookies, almost $5.00 for a small bottle of anise flavoring. forgetaboutit! Holy Cow!!! How the heck do families with kids manage?

On our news last night, they said here in RI, where the unemployment rate is 9.3%, they said that 1 in 6 kids will go hungry....that just makes me sick.

I think I won't be doing much as much baking as I had planned on. This is just nuts! Oh, and have you seen the price of them lately?!!

Prices just keep getting worse s/m

Instead of throwing the meat away here, they have a list of churches that will take it for the soup kitchens, etc.  At least they know it is going to a good cause.

We have been skimping more and more on meals. We are having more grilled cheese with soup, french toast or pancakes with sausage or bacon (when I find it on sale) and we were just given a deer that we had processed for ground meat and such.  I have cut way back on snacks, a bag of chips and a bag of apples or oranges for the week.  With 4 kids in the house, that goes fast!

Western NY prices
I live in Western NY and the major chain here, Wegmans, just lowered prices on a large amount of their groceries.  The staples we all need.  I really noticed a different in my grocery bill the last couple weeks.  Flour 5 lbs $1.49, sugar 5 lbs $1.99, 10 lbs potatoes $2.49.  Those are things I can think of off the top of my head.  i go there and to the super walmart to keep my grocery budget somewhat reasonable and I use coupons.
I am getting really nervous about gas prices

creeping back up again.  In my area it went from $1.59 to the present price of $1.99 a gallon.  Any hope that it won't get to $4.00 again?

there are usually places where you can get
kitchen cabinets, sinks, and bathroom vanities and sinks and other fixtures that are discontinued models at a discount and if the kitchen is small you can probably find what you need.
Know both places well
Grew up in Texas and have live near or in both what would you like to know and I will try and help.
Want to say this, some of the places
are not what I would consider very nice upkeep. Have been to the Flamingo to see shows but old, run down to my liking, also very smoke filled casino where you walk in off the street. I am surprised has not been 1 of the 1 demolished to tell you the truth. Monte Carlo may be ok- is on the strip. Lots stay at MGM, looks really nice from the lobby view. The Stratosphere is really low on my totem pole, did not like the atmosphere there. You want to stay on the strip I would think, easier to get around. The taxis are costly, ride the trolley, also there is free rides to places. The last time I was there found a place off the strip I wanted to see show- called the hotel and they told me where to catch free ride!! Lots of places offer those- people just don’t know to ask. The buses are cheap enough. Lots of walking- long, long blocks.
Hi, not just the ads here, although I do think that of all places,,,,sm
an MT forum and networking site should be more representative of what actually takes place in this field. There are ads on the internet, TV, magazines, just about everywhere. I think they should tone down the "rhetoric" quite a bit, and stop using hopeful young woman/moms as THEIR meal ticket with mostly UNREALISTIC and misleading "guarantees!" Really gripes me! Thanks for responding!
Haven't seen prices that low in years around here - (nm)
nm
The reason is high gas prices.
All that stuff is transported by truck... they run on gas...

Did you check out the profits the oil companies made last quarter?

My husband says it is because of fuel prices...sm
The stores have to pay so much to have the food delivered because it costs the trucks so much in fuel. My husband drives an 18 wheeler and you would not believe what it costs to deliver those loads. He doesn't haul food. But the fuel price for what he hauls is insane. It cost about $6000 just in fuel to haul some chemicals in a tanker to Montana from Mississippi. That is not counting what the owner of the truck has to pay the driver for taking the load up there. So you can kind of get an idea now why the food is going up like it is.
Yes. Gas prices have shot up $.60 per gallon
in less than two weeks here. I drove the kids home from school one day, made a mental note to get gas, and the price had gone up $.25 by the time I got back to the gas station. Ridiculous!
A King mattress measures 78 inches wide, 80 inches..
long; Cal King is 72 inches wide and 84 inches long. Maybe you just need to rotate the sheet.
Wal-Mart - $12 plus $2 tip - sm
I paid $20 plus $4 tip for a couple of years and was never completely satisfied but scared to switch hairdressers. I was in Wal-Mart one day and got a look at myself in the mirror and marched straight to the beauty shop in the store and got a cut. Been going there ever since and am completely satisfied...with cut, price, and convenience. No appointment necessary. I just go whenever I start looking straggly.
Wal-Mart
I was told Merry Christmas at Wal-Mart by the check-out lady last night. . but it is a small town in Ky.. so it might be different in a bigger town.
I have one from Wal-Mart....sm
I got a Bissell with attachments. I love it. I used it just tonight for the first time. You should have seen the dirty water!! I think for the price it is great. It has a switch where you can choose a heavy duty cleaning or a normal cleaning or just a water rinse. I love it so far!!
Hah ! Wal Mart
I swear, at my Wal Mart Saturday nights are a zoo, every weirdo in the county is there. Two weeks ago I was online with my 11 year old daughter for over 45 minutes. There was a woman in front of me with a teenage, a girl who looked about 13, and another who looked about 10. The mother was having a phone conversation on her cell phone, and every other word out of her mouth was the F word. I finally told my daughter to go look at the books so she wouldn't hear this woman anymore. I should have said something to this woman, but she looked like she could beat the heck out of me, so I didn't.
Wal-Mart nm

actually I like K mart because they still have Lay A way
you have to get a credit card instead
PUBLIC PLACES

I love animals; however, I have a life-threatening allergy to dander. Keep your animals home, love them, and enjoy them in YOUR space.

The places where I was able to go in my travels
always had babysitters available for the families. Oh yes to tell you the truth I do have money.
Have been loads of places
Greece, Mexico (5x there), Puerto Rico, Bahamas (4x there, Jamica, Alaska and my hubs fav is Las Vegas (6x there)- I was only in Jamica for a week but had a blast there, so much to do. I probably would save my favorite and most gorgeous (water included) was probably Alaska. Very hard trip for me, so far and I thought only trip of a lifetime but I think I have changed my mind and would love to return. It would be between Jamica and Alaska and I am past the beach thing now. Have a great time!
