The Church of Christ, Scientist, believers do not generally utilize medicine or doctors. This is a completely different entity than the Church of Scientology, which is what the Travoltas belong to. Scientologists use medical drugs when physically ill and also rely on the advice and treatment of medical doctors. But, as Tom Cruise made us all aware, they don't believe in the use of psychotrophic meds.

Actually, if you're a strong Christian
and grounded in your faith, you are going to wear it everywhere you go because that is what Jesus instructed us to do. Our job on this earth is to preach the gospel to all people so that they might come to know him.
I'm sorry that it bothers you (and don't say it doesn't because it obviously does) but if you don't like the the posts of Jan, mammamt and others who have chosen to profess their faith then don't read them but please don't knock them down.
I know this is an absolutely futile argument but I just had to throw my 2 cents in there.

Say you're lesbian and your with your partner, and we bumped into each other in the mall, I wouldn't be disrespectful to you, but that doesn't mean that I agree with your lifestyle either.

Older cat's behavior- confusing me
My older girl says nothing, usually but today she is being very vocal, not like she is in pain but just sounding off. She has lost weight but gained 1/2 lb when I weighed her yesterday in 2 weeks (on medication for her appetite) but seems to be roaming so to speak, constantly walking around (usually sleeping) and wanting all attention from me and that is not usual for her. She seems to be pacing back and forth so to speak. Anyone have cat that theirs acted like this?

This thread is a little confusing to follow so I will just
throw my experience out there and see if it works. I was in my 30s when I started having problems with dryness. My husband thought it was because I didn't want him, and I kind of felt weird about it, but it really was just physical - I am not sure what caused it. Finally, he expressed to me that the sex was not as good anymore - I agreed - so I tried using artificial lubricants. The sex was so much better and there was not so much unspoken baggage about the whole thing.
We have been married for 20 years, gone through an almost divorce, and raised 2 kids, so I am not sure why that was such a hard issue to talk about. Like others said, sometimes the sex is hot and you want bunches, sometimes its the furthest thing from your mind, but ultimately just talking about the problem worked for us.
I don't like Science Diet
either. I try to read the ingredients on pet foods when deciding which ones to buy, and it seems like Science Diet is full of by-products and useless stuff. So why when I go to the vets does he prescribe my cat Science Diet for UTI?? Do they not know what foods are good and which ones aren't. And I'm sure if I asked the vet which food to put my new puppy on, he would probably say Science Diet. I've been buying Royal Canin for my dogs, but now with the recall, don't know if I trust them either.
If she has had all the math and science
prerequisites, it doesn't matter what grade she is in when she takes it. My son took it in 10th grade with the seniors, but was a couple years ahead of his grade in math and science classes. His teacher also just gave them the work,and they were pretty much on their own. My son reads math and physics books for fun, so he was all right, but he had some seniors asking him for help throughout the year.
If this is her first year of high school, that's probably stressing her out too. She may want to wait till next year or later to take it until she is more comfortable with the high school routine.

My mom donated her body to science - sm
so we had nothing. She did not want us to do anything. We did mail a note to all my parents friends, etc. letting them know she had died, etc. but that was the extent of it. I said "goodbye" to my mom in the hospital morgue. They gave me a very hard time about it and did not want to let me but I insisted, explaining we were not having a funeral, etc. Took them an hour to arrange it once they finally agreed to let me see her. My brother and dad went with me, though I would have rather been alone. My dad already said his goodbyes in the room as did my brother. I drove up 4 hours so I could that night. My other brother did not make it though. His wife I think is the only one that has had a problem with the fact that there was no funeral or memorial service. We all just took things from the house that reminded us of mom and I think that helped. I have my mom's old recliner and I sit in it sometimes and talk to her. Plus when we get together we openly talk about mom and past events, etc., even my dad does despite his re-marriage and I know he is very happy in his marriage. But all in all we have all been fine with it, I think it helps to know my mom hated funerals, was not that religious, and we honored her wishes.

my poultry professor said that fresher eggs are harder to peel. The problem is that you can't tell from the store which the older eggs are because when they expire, they just repackage them with newer dates and send them back out because they only go bad if there is a defect in the shell.

i find the science in the Bible pretty tangible,
ie, that this world is a sphere, suspended in heaven (vs. flat), about the paths/currents under the sea, and more -- these were written WAYYYYYY before 'man' discovered same. Those are tangible facts or science. However, science nowadays isn't necessarily fact -- too much theory purported as science...

what i have to put up with as a Christian
I cannot pray in public. My children cannot pray in school. Basically I can never mention God in any conversation w/o being called a fanatic like I am some kind of third world kook ready to strap on a bomb. My children and I can hardly watch TV anymore because of the language or sexual content. Even most commercials are to explicit for my young ones to see. I cant even hardly watch the news anymore w/o screening it first. I cant go to a store or a public place with my kids w/o them being exposed to half dressed women/men. Sometimes we get to be exposed to men dressed as women or vice versa. I cant go to the movie store with my kids and browse through the selections w/o seeing many, many movies with lesbians or gay men on the cover of the movie boxes, lying in bed half naked. So, this is what I have to be exposed to daily and this is what my INNOCENT children have to be exposed to daily. Dont tell me I am not tolerant.

Remember what Christ said? He said to season our words with love and be gentle and kind. You can post Scripture all day long but until you model gentleness and kindness I doubt many will listen.

Don't even think about the doctors' part in her death. Just think of it as God wanted her home, and so he took her.

I'm Christian and it really irks me to see that he was being harassed by Christians because he doesn't believe in God. That is not a description of true faith by any means. Those soldiers destroyed their witness to him and that in itself is a sin... this man will never come to faith if he continues to be treated like this. I wouldn't want to either if I were him.

of man; the Bible doesn't tell us when Christ was really born, and doesn't authorize Christmas as a Christian holiday, tho it still has a religious flavor, it is certainly not a religious holiday in the strict sense.

I would have never thought my father would molest his own flesh and blood but it happened and yet he was a very "Christian" man to the others in his community. I, too, am a Christian. I totally agree with some of what you
said; however, she is not putting her husband in an impossible situation. He CHOOSES to be in the impossible situation. The Bible plainly says that a man is to leave his father and mother and stick with his wife. He should be man enough to stand up to his family and tell them if his wife is not included he won't be there either. Of course, they ALL should work to resolve their differences. Somebody needs to get to the bottom of the matter. If the difference can't be resolved, though, he should stick with his wife. No, he shouldn't have to choose between his wife and his family, but sometimes that's just the way it is. If my husband was not welcome in the homes of my parents and my sisters, I wouldn't go either. When I married him, WE became a family first and foremost.

Let me tell you - I am a Christian. The only different between me and the atheist (I used to be one) is that by the Grace of God I am saved now. That is it. I am no better, not one bit, than anyone else. You will never win anyone over with statements like the one you just made.

Plus, I thought we separated church and state when I was like 5 years old (going back many decades)....

we should indeed learn about different religious beliefs -- but God is not the author of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33). There is ONE faith, not many (Ephesians 4:5). He has outlined in His inspired Word what the 'church' consists of (Eph 1:22, 23), how it is to be governed (Elders, deacons and their requirements), how it is structured (Christ is the head), how we are added to it (Acts 2:47, 2:41). Christ 'built' His church (Matthew 16:18), not the catholic church, not the lutheran, baptist, mormon, etc., but His church. I do agree in being respectful, but also in stating the Biblical truth in a factual matter. And remember, we are not to add to or take away from His Word.
