You're aunt is bully, plain and simple and I would just stop visiting.
but I will tell you this, most mothers are going to voice their opinions to their kids about how they did things compared to out YOU do things. I think it's in the mother by-laws somewhere. :) My mother constantly tells me I'm too soft with my kids and I am. My mother was a strict disciplinarian similar to your aunt when I was a kid. Spankings were routine and generally with the belt or the fly swatter or any other object handy. That's why I'm so soft.
I let me mother know early on after I became a mother, that my kids are MY KIDS. She can give me advice and I'll always listen, but I will make the final decision on how and when to discipline my children and I and ONLY I (and DH too of course) will dole out any discipline necessary. Nobody else has permission to spank my children, EVER!
My mom and I get along pretty good now. I accept that she will be nosy and pushy and she accepts that I will ignore her and not call for a few days when she gets on my nerves.
I would just suggest being honest with your aunt and letting her know that you think you're a good mother, your DH thinks your a good mother and that your kids are doing fine and behave fine and if she doesn't think so, then she doesn't need to see the kids.
Wow, talk about being on the defensive! Yes, I have children, but I don't work when they're pl
I'm single, too, pay the bills all by my little bitty self. I'm in the same boat, but I don't put my children in potentially precarious situations by working and not paying attention to them. You are zoned into the headphones while your children are playing around with stuff they're not supposed to. You should justify my post with a response, but one that is more along the lines of..."you know, you're right. I should work my schedule when the children aren't into things and I'm not watching." Incidentally, I work and sleep nights when my children are sleeping. I work 6 days a week and crank out around 2500 lines a night. I have my shortcuts streamlined to the point where most of the dictation that comes in I have a shortcut for, so I can produce a very large volume of lines in a very short period of time. I have somewhere around 60,000 shortcut entries in my PCShorthand. My children go to bed at 8 PM and that's when I start work. I go to bed at 1 AM and get up about 7 AM. I get about 6 hours of sleep a night and for me that's plenty and I function just fine. During the day, I am able to spend quality time with my children, take them to the doctor, do the shopping, pay the bills, school functions, etc., so it's a sacrifice I'm willing to take, plus it was easier finding a night job than a day job. Of course, there's absolutely no time for a boyfriend since I have the full time job of transcribing and the full time job of being a mother, but maybe one day that will be an option.
Nonsense...

I told right away, think its nonsense to wait - sm
people will find out generally one way or another. I can see if you have a history of miscarriages and being paranoid about it and waiting 3-4 months thinking you'd jinx yourself, etc. But miscarriages happen for a reason and are natural abortions for the most part, and should be thought of that way, much healthier approach and attitude. Granted I do not know from experience, but I'd like to think that is how I'd think of it. I spotted at six weeks at my very first GYN exam (before the exam), yes it was unnerving, but that was the only time it happened luckily. But I told my friends and family right away and had no qualms in getting all my ducks in a row in advance as much as I could (we were in the midst of moving and selling the house during my first pregnancy).
great post and I so appreciate what you're doing!!sm
God sees all - and you ARE blessed!! Thanks for posting all you have posted and sharing with all of us!!! I so get it about dealing with the govt and trying to get anywhere in dealing with govt agencies!! I wish for you and the children THE BEST!!!
lol, you're posts are getting a little out of hand with the duh post below and this one.

My mother's floors you could eat off of back then - and we all were scared (terrified) of her.....my house is clean enough to be healthy and dirty enough to be happy...*S* .....I think Misha's post said it all and by all means, she posted it for you to utilize when you decide to confront hubby on these issues....
Best of luck.....from an equalist who, when my ex did a white glove test, I got so mad, I handed him the dust cloth and product(s) and told him, if he wasn't happy to do it himself..........'nuff said....*lol*... and him being the passive-aggressive a** that he was - I ended up divorcing him after nearly 14 years and thinking I should have been sainted for staying THAT long....never regretted one minute away from that either........been nearly 16 yrs....
I have. See him on infomercials in the middle of the morning trying to sell is nonsense...

Just one example of his "natural cures"....any physician will confirm, with 100% certainty, that patients with end-stage renal disease who receive dialysis 3 x weekly can not be cured by KT's natural methods. Actually the people with money buy all the nonsense items for their kids
and the others without money are all trying to keep up with the Joneses and of course getting in debt because of it because heaven-forbid their kid doesn't have what everyone else has. How could they ever be seen in public without the gel french manicure nails, cell phone, ipod, blackberry, brand name jeans, etc., etc., etc. What a world we live in where the children now rule! lol Pathetic. The other day I saw a woman and her maybe 15 year old, all highlighted hair and all, at the nail place, and unfortunatley I got stuck in the seat between the two of them. Well the kids nails alone cost her 65.00. lol! But the best was the kid must have not liked something and was mouthing something to her mom, and then the mom was like whispering, what, honey, what is it, what is wrong, do you not like something, honey, do you want a design, tell me, what is wrong? what is it? And I'm in between them, right? I wanted to say please excuse me while I get up to throw up. LOL. It is just amazing to me.

With your sense of humor, you'd fit right in with the down to earth part of us!! My DD (dear daughter) would have a blast trying to make us think she was innocent enough that she doesn't understand a bunch of your jokes!! She's 13 and negotiating that Mommy's Little Angle versus Teenage Devil part of life, and tries to hold back the snickers when a dirty joke is told. The good old days were when she was reading a page of blond jokes and really didn't understand the ones with sexual inuendo. How quickly those days went by...

Snowstorms that shut the towns down for days on end. Couldn't get out to go to work unless you worked close to home and could walk. Schools never shut down. Five of us walked a mile a day to school with snow up to our hips. Our lessons for the day? Study hall.
My first car was a ི Chevy coupe. Gas was $.27 a gallon and I chauffered 5 friends to and from school for $.25 a week. On Friday and Sat. nights there was a dance with a group that became 'almost famous.' They got as far as the Steel Pier in Atlantic City dance club. It was a big deal to be on TV in those days. On those nights, I would go to the next town and pick up anybody hitch hiking to the dance. (I wasn't allowed to go to the dances). I wired the car with an older portable record player that only played 45s and kept my records under the seat.Worked great except when I would hit a bump. LOL

Sleigh riding in the winter on our Flexible Flyer. We did it on steep coal banks. Much better thrill. Then we found out cardboard worked even better. No getting stuck halfway down the bank because the sleigh rails would hit a larger piece of coal sticking up.

Did you get any answers from the thoracic doctor about your rib pain? I hope you were able to get a diagnosis of some kind and get some treatment planned.
No checking account. sm
I have a prepaid debit card I have my pay deposited onto and then pay bills from that or get money orders. The only problem I have is if I get a check its hard to cash and I have to go to the issuing bank and they sometimes charge a fee to cash their own check. Like National City charges $10 to cash a check drawn on their bank if you don't have an account with them.
Checking Your Man's History Because
In Internet Explorer web browsers:
To just check history, click on the top left area of the browser window where it shows a yellow star. You'll see three choices toward the top of that menu: Favorites, Feeds, and History. Click on History. You'll see everything stored there since the last time the history was cleared.
Now, if you want to set the computer to save the History longer than it's saving it already (for example, you don't see anything from last week, but you wish you could see it next week when you come back again...) Do this:
Top Right of your browser window, you'll see the word "Tools". Click on it, and there's a drop-down menu. Look at the very bottom of the menu, and you'll see the words "Internet Options" Click on that. You'll see a pop-up box with different stuff in it. The second one down is browsing history. Click on "settings" within that section and then look at the bottom of the new pop-up box. You'll see a thing you can set to choose how many days to store in history. Change that number to show however frequently you want to check his history. If you want to check his history once per week, set it to 10 days, to give yourself a little leeway in getting back to it.
If your Man is being sneaky and deleting his history, there isn't much you can do about that without installing Spyware on the computer. If the computer is his alone or provided through his employment, you're risking privacy laws to spy on him. If it's a family computer, then you're using it too, and you should have a right to view the history on it.
Boring and overpayed.

Sports are not boring.
They are meant to promote competition and fitness. I wonder though if we had a disaster that would require "fit" people to help bring others to safety, would we be able to call on the athletes? I wonder if there weren't enough soldiers or police/firemen, etc., could we count on some athletes? A lot of these organizations also help charity. I know this is kind of off the subject, but I love sports, so maybe that's why I feel the way I do. JMO. Thanks for asking.
What a boring Monday!!! (sm)
My line count is low today even though I am working my butt off to try to bring it up. I come over here for a break and it looks like no one has posted anything new for hours. Doesn't anyone have anything exciting to say (I don't!!! was hoping you did!) LOL
Beautiful but boring
It is really beautiful, but after 10+ years living here raising the kids, I am beginning to crave a little craziness! Tourist season can be pretty awful, but all those tourist $$$ keep my taxes pretty low.
It is truly a land of haves and have nots. In my town, there is one house for sale for $23 million, but you can still get a real fixer-upper for under $150K. Still not cheap, but like they say, location, location, location.
predictable and boring.

We definitely need a car. Long and probably boring.
Our ྙ Buick has been very good to us, but the transmission is going. We've been adding something (don't know the name) every 6 months over the past year, but we don't think it will hold out much longer. Plus, the last ice storm really did a number on our windshield. We had a "stone crack" that was there since the day we bought the car, but the storm put a crack across the whole length of the windshield and back again. We are driving the car that way, but need a new one.
The problem is we can't afford anything over $2000 and most of the cars we have looked at are $4000 and up. Now, hubby tells me if I close out my IRA and pay for the car, he will guarantee to pay me back next year if he gets back to work. The thing I don't like is the word IF. I have been practically sole support now because he hasn't worked much this year (not his fault) and, with the fall in the stock markets, I lost mucho dollars from my IRA, as he did. He still has double what I have left, but he wants me to close out my IRA.
We need a car so he can get to work (over 50 miles one way) once he gets back to work if he decides not to retire, but I'm tired of paying all the bills plus our health insurance (which he promised to pay half and hasn't been able to do - to the tune of $4000 owed) now having to worry about getting another car. Am I wrong to feel this way? I'm starting to feel like he just doesn't want me to have any control or have any savings, that it is a threat to him if I have any money. He's my high school sweetheart from 1965, so it's not like we're yung'uns. He wasn't this way until his surgery 2 years ago. I know I'll never be able to recoup my losses from my IRA and sometimes think I should just do what he says, but I feel it's my $$ that I worked hard to get, although it will never see me through my retirement.
He just paid the IRS and state taxes before the end of the year before they tacked on any more penalties and interest, and made ME feel guilty because I didn't have enough money deducted from MY wages to cover it (we are still trying to recover from his open heart surgery). I am claiming single and really starting to hurt money-wise. It's just too much for me to handle. I'm paying all the cc's that we had to use to survive to pay medical bills and doctors after his surgery.
What would you do in this case? I use the car maybe twice a week when it's here to go for groceries if he doesn't get around to going for them. Should I take him at his word? Should I close out my IRA and get a decent car (which would probably last us the rest of our life)?
I just need another person's opinion before I make my final decision. Thanks.
Making MY list and checking
I also made a list for my hubby. He is a sweetie, though and last year it was diamond ring, the year before diamond bracelet, the year before gold necklace and this year I made not only things for me but also things I wanted around the house. He bought me gold earrings, a bling watch and some snuggles for my feet (he says he has heard me say my feet get cold). Love that man with a passion!!
Yippee! Thanks for the links. Checking them out now.
My checking acct. is free....sm
I would never have a checking account that involved fees. Even though some earn interest, it's only on balances above a certain amount. However, I never have enough money to even meet those minimum balances. I have what's called "Totally Free Checking" and it is totally free, except for having to buy checks when I need them. Since my check is direct deposited, I get my $$ before those whose checks are mailed...not to mention the fees that go with cashing payroll checks. So, I'll keep my checking account until I see a reason not to.
My checking account is free too. I pay
most of my bills on line through them--no fee for that either. Whenever I need checks, I order them from one of those places you see in ads in the Sunday paper. They are cheaper and with paying online, I have not ordered any in probably 4 years.
I thought it was boring last night . . .

We don't fight during the holidays, but then we really don't talk much either. My mom has Alzheimer and my brother just doesn't say much. I try to carry on a conversation, but it is hard to when you are met with silence.
I find Danny boring.
Can't believe he hasn't been booted yet. I'm a hardcore Adam fan and would like to see him win, although win or lose he will be a huge star. Anyway, thank God for a world where we don't all have the same tastes. You can have your Gokey, and I'll take my Lambert, LOL!
I've had my checking with WAMU for years -
I just called a couple of days ago and it was obvious their calls are now being answered overseas. It took so long for them to understand what I was calling about, I ended up just hanging up and doing it myself on line. I'm thinking of switching or at least complaining. It's a disappointment.
Thanks for your comment- I am just checking to see if others thought it was 'more' than it sho
