Yes & could you help me find the best Scrabble game ?? sm

Posted By: gemini on 2008-11-25
In Reply to: Does anyone play board games or card games anymore? - old fashioned.

I have turned my grandsons onto Scrabble. They are very into Wii and computer, etc. When they come here we have a Scrabble challenge and I cannot believe they want a board game so when I go over there we can continue. There is one at LL Bean for $50 that turns and is wood. One at Hasbro.com which is an anniversary addition for about $39 but plastic. I am just so happy we have this connection and this contest going on, I am searching, but perhaps you know the best place. Of course, I am Grammie so it takes me longer. Keep on playing board games as these kids are addicted to technology!

I just got a Scrabble game on EBay
We play Scrabble each holiday - kinda got a contest going on.  We have been through 2 regular games but thought it would be great to have the turntable.  I decided to check Ebay 2 weeks ago and one had an hour left on the bid and I won the bid for $19 w/ S&H.  There was one tile gone but they told me ahead of time about that which is  n problem really as we had all the tiles from the old game and they fit just fine.  Bought an egg timer at the dollar store and looking forward to this year's game fest.  Good for you playing a board game with the grandkids.  Teaches them a little spelling subliminally too.
Found my Scrabble game sm
Went online to Walmart at 4:30 AM, they had the new jubilee edition for $10 less than Hasbro direct, it has a carrying case, curved letter holders, lazy Susan turning board. The only thing I didn't like was that the pieces look plastic. I also bought the word book and a few other books, DVD's and lo and behold by 6:00 PM I got an E-mail saying they had shipped.  I don't know if this was a Black Friday item but there were some deals on there. Our local Walmart is very "seedy" and I would not enjoy going there in the dark AM, so I did well. I have gotten my two grandsons interested in Scrabble as this is the only part of my brain that works well and it's a challenge for them to "Beat Grammie" - better than being glued to the Wii. LL Bean has a great wooden set but it's $99 and would be hard for them to carry around.

Don't know why the negativity...I LOVE scrabble, play it all the time.

Find a lawyer, find out where you would stand - sm
in the event of a divorce/separation, regarding custody, house, etc. Custody was my main concern as well since I lied on numerous occasions about the finances. Where I am I was told that would not factor in to the custody at all. I can prove that I am my kids caregiver 90% of the time, I ferry they around everywhere, help with homework, get ready for school, meet at busstop, etc. I could also point out my husband is an alcoholic, self treats his depression with alcohol instead of getting proper medical treatment, has threatend to kill himself (or me) numerous times (though he always says he was joking and did not mean it.....that is his standard answer to everything, or that he never said that). Now I do love him enough to deal with all that because deep down inside my DH is full of it, luckily for me, he has never followed through on anything he says he is going to do. But I thought my confession would be the straw that broke it all and send him over the edge. He still is angry with me, I am sure he will be for a long time, but is keeping it together pretty well, though he has said the stress was going to kill him, now he know how I felt I guess. I am sorry your husband is such a smuck. I feel like a dog sometimes with the sex demands, have to do it the night before he goes out of town....he will be traveling a lot for work for the next 3-4 months, which I am more than glad about, much calmer here then, though it gets tiring for me but as he is not really helping much right now it really won't be much of a change. As for yours going on 5 day weekends.....have you considered having him followed, sounds like there may be some infidelity afoot, and if so that would strengthen your case in the event of a divorce and custody I would think. Sounds a bit fishy going out until 1 a.m. and his frequent trips. My DH fishes too, but he goes 2 miles from here with one of our male neighbors, they shoot the breeze and he gets to unwind some which I encourage. Very rare weekends with a buddy of his, I am talking once every 2 years, which again is fine with me. Start keeping track of all you do, when he is home, where he supposedly goes, with whom, etc. He cannot show he will be a responsible dad if he is never there or never interacts with his own kids. My DH would probably suggest I take our older daughter and he the younger, spliting them up, he has the same perception, the oldest is mine, the youngest is his. Our younger daughter is much easier to deal with, our older daughter drives him nuts and she is only 10. My younger one (8) knows something has been going one though, and worries we will divorce, which she does not want. She is very perceptive for her years. I hope that if you do go the divorce route, which would actually probably be best in your situation, that it all works out for you and you get your fair share of assets, etc. Make sure before you do anything like that you have all your ducks in a row, so talk to divorce lawyer. I talked to one for 45 minutes, cost me $160 but was worth it to set my mind at ease. Good luck.

Just a game?
Just a GAME?? JUST A GAME??????

...er, nevermind, my pills have kicked in. :-)
seen the game Mad Gab? -
had to be developed by a MT.
Fun game.

Here's a fun one, if you just bounce on for a second and then go back to typing. Don't know if you've done it or not.

First person starts and I will

Sweet or salty:  (the next person answers and then does another comparison for example)

Sweet.  Then add their own like this,

Mountains or beach: (okay now you go, have fun!)

So...WHO WON that game anyway? lol.

game idea
Our youth group had a balloon tower game.  The kids were divided into 2 teams and each given the same number of balloons and scotch tape.  They had a certain amount of time to blow up the balloons and build a tower and see who had the tallest one at the end of the time limit.  We had kids of all ages and they all seemed to enjoy it.
Think it is a little late in the game
because at 22 she should already pretty much know how to manage. My daughter not only paid did all the bookkeeping for our family but had her own job, own car, own this and that, very self sufficient at that age. This is something you start prior to her age of 22.
The dating game.

I hate it and that's why I continue to be single and loving it.  Knowing the simplistic mind and approach of men to relationships, think of it this way (just to put it bluntly).  They are like boys with new toys.  If they play too much with the toy, sooner or later, they will set it aside and forget about it.  As far as "games," yes dating is a game, a "cat and mouse" game.  The cat enjoys inmensely chasing after the mouse.  You have to "dangle the catnip" for the cat and let him work for it.  If the mouse does the chasing, then it is not fun for the cat.  Many men have the same thing in mind while dating "hit and run" (if you know what I mean), as in "why buy the cow, when you have tasted the milk."  You have to let him do the chasing.  When a woman goes too much after a man, he just sits in his all mighty throne knowing that he doesn't have to do anything, but wait for you to come to him to tell him how much you need him.  If he really has any real true intentions, he will call you or write to you wondering what you have been up to.  There is nothing worse for a man that not to know what a woman is thinking.

come to think of it - I am very good at that game
nm
Bunco is a game....(sm)
It is a game where teams roll dice and try to get certain sets of numbers for prizes at the end of the game. Nothing to do with grooming at all. I agree with you. Very few women who I can get along with other than on a superficial basis.
loved the game
I watched and LOVED the game - I really didn't care who won - I rooted for both times - love both quarterbacks. . . totally enjoyed the whole thing - even most of the commercials. . my fiance isn't much of a footbal fan, so I mostly watched by myself - used the game as an excuse to have lots of snacks.
No it is a PC game that you can buy at WalMart
They do make a console version but it's horrid.

if you have slow PC or laptop I would recomend The Sims Life Stories because The Sims 2 game takes up a lot of memory and requires a fast system, the Life Stories is a "lite" version and requires you to reach certain goals rather than free play. I really enjoyed Life Stories, wish they would come out with more.

here is the sims 2 deluxe edition:

Another fun video game sm..
Is Wii Fit.  It's the first video game I've ever bought in my life.  It has yoga, some strength exercises, aerobics (running in place).  I live in the South, and it's nice to exercise in my house with the air conditioning.
Playing the game
1. I'm a HUGE flirt!
2. Can manage LOTS of money at my other job but can't seem to manage 3.00 in my own checking account {sigh}.
3. Would love to hop in an RV and travel the country!
I was actually at the 6th game in 1980.
I saw the Phillies win their one and only WS championship. Just one. And the Phillies have been around since 1883. Makes you want to laugh and cry at the same time.

I love the Phils even though they've broken my heart more times than I can count. Maybe for that reason I'm trying to pretend that I'm not too excited. I'm hoping that Richie Ashburn has some pull up in heaven and maybe can call in some sort of favor for another World Series this year. What's that everyone's saying? Eight-O and O-Eight. Please, just one more before I die!

my favorite game

I played a really fun game at someone's baby shower that I have always remembered. You buy a few jars of baby food and take off the labels. Number the jars of food and keep a key around for you so you won't forget what they are! Try picking ones that look similar or might be hard to guess. Pass the baby jars around and get everyone to write down what they think it is. The person with the most correct answers wins. Good luck!

Awesome game
Loved it, loved it, loved it!
Watch a baseball game. sm

A lot of pro sports people do it too.  Good luck, maybe he will stop.

We all have troubles with kids.   My 21-year old son was on pot real bad, and he has finally stopped, so hang in there.

Imagination is when all parties know it's just a game.
If you were fine with finding out Santa was just a myth, fine, hopefully your kids will be the same. But don't have a cow just because some people aren't into the Santa thing. And I don't have kids, so you don't have to worry about my "poor kids." And it's not necessary to e-mail me to express your anger over my opinion.
Another cute balloon game
Blow up balloons and then usig yarn tie one around each girl's ankle and then then let them run around an try to pop the others. I also agree with the other poster (daughter is 14) after many sleepovers I have found out that the girls love to just sit and talk. Have tons of snacks and a little privacy. They will enjoy just being together. Good luck and hats off to you for having a house full of girls.
My kitty's favorite game
is to run down the hall from us so we chase her. Then she hides under my son's bed, and she especially loves this when it's dark at night, and she waits. Then we go to look under and find her. As we turn and walk out of the room, she comes after our ankles and bats us (not with claws). WE turn around and chase her back under the bed and then walk away and she comes out all over again. This is her game...anyone else's cat like hide and seek ?
We play the dictionary game. (sm)
You can buy it, but all you really need is a dictionary, pieces of paper and pencils, and a bunch of people who are good at making stuff up.

The way we play it, not only does the person who chose the word and tricks people get points for each person he tricks, but anybody whose wrong answer gets voted for collects points too. It's hilarious.
I love that game. It is addictive. -nm

GREAT GAME. GIANTS FAN HERE
even though they should be the New Jersey Giants since they play at the Meadowlands. LOL. I am from Northern New Jersey. The Patriots looked lack luster to me. I was waiting for them to just explode but they didn't and glad they didn't. The last touchdown was the clincher but still got nervous when the Pats got the ball back. The best play, I thought, was when Eli almost got sacked and threw that terrific pass to Tyre who made a spectular catch. My heart was pounding. BEST GAME EVER. Been a Giants fan for many, many years. My dad went to high school with Alex Webster, who was a Giants coach at one time. When my parents got married in 1954 a few of the Giants players at that time CRASHED my parents wedding. My mom was not thrilled but my dad and the guy guests were. LOL

Gonna watch the parade on TV tomorrow at 11 a.m. Too bad it is supposed to be raining but I am sure they won't care.
Help me think of U words for a Cub Scout Game.
I'm running a cub pack meeting tonight and have a guessing game for the boys to keep them busy before the meeting starts. The theme of the meeting is "Magic", and they are putting their hands into holes cut into shoe boxes. Each box is labeled with the letters H-O-C-U-S P-O-C-U-S. Each box contains an item that begins the letter on the box. The boys can't see in the box, They have to guess what's in the box by touching the item. I'm having a hard time thinking of and finding "U" items to put in those two boxes. Can you help?
This game is sweet-check it out!

I'm so addicted.

My sis has a Wii and the bowling game is great....
you get some exercise, can have a drink or so while playing, and don't have to smell like cigarettes when you get home. Or spend any money on shoes etc. LOL.
Walmart only game in town sm
I live in a poor rural county and Walmart is the only place there is to shop and is also one of the largest employers. This may be because they came in and killed off other businesses, but there is also Family Dollar and Dollar General which seem to be going strong. When I'm in there, which is probably 2-3 times a week, they are always telling employees to take breaks and I see the same faces I've seen for the past 7 years.  I can't afford to shop anywhere else and if I could, don't have time to drive at least 1 hour one way to shop at Target, Kohls, etc. which is what I would have to do.
Not boasting, but I'm actually ahead of the game sm

We changed our lifestyle quite a bit over the last year.  We just built a new house out in the country, so we are not ordering in as much.  I actually make a menu for the week and buy groceries for that menu.  I plan my meals ahead of time, but we still allow ourselves the luxury of eating out, usually once on the weekends.  We were very fortunate to be able to budget for a geothermal heat pump, so heat bills!  YEAH!!!!  Because we went with the full geothermal (not just a regular heat pump), our light bill didn't go up that much either.

I have 3 kids and they are all elementary age and play lots of sports.  They're all playing baseball, and the parents were given the option to either work the concession stand 1 game per child per season or pay $20.  Needless to say, I'm working the concession stand for 3 games and saving that $60.

I also took on a part-time job in direct sales.  It has been a Godsend.  Not only do I get out a couple of nights a week with other ladies to have a good time, but I also get paid to do it.  I make about $200 a night for about 4 hours of work, although it doesn't feel like work.  I'm also on my way to earning a free vacation for next year through this company.  This year, we're headed to Disney with the money I've made so far from direct sales.

I knew I needed to make a little extra income.  I work part-time for an MTSO now about 6 hours a day, and the money is good, but I wanted a little for the extras.  This direct sales thing was right up my alley.  I don't know how long it will last in this economy, but I intend to "ride the wave" as long as I can.

Recipes for a newlywed game!!! SM
Hey gang. I've been reading all of your posts about different recipes. I've been married about a year and a half and I'm sad to say that I only have about 10 meals that I know I can make. My problem is...I'm just not creative enough to think up of different things. So, I thought not only as a helpful tool for me, but also for others, could you please post your "go-to" meal for either breakfast, lunch or dinner and lets see how many recipes we can share with each other. Thanks so much and I'll start...

My favorite thing to make for dinner is beef stroganoff. I take about a pound of tenderized stew beef and about a 1/4 pound of mushrooms and brown them in a pan. Then I add two packages of McCormick stroganoff mix (I get mine from Safeway) along with 10 ounces of sour cream. I cook this down until it is nice and thick. Then I pour it over egg noodles! SOO SOO SOO good. Pair it with some garlic bread (my husband's specialty) and you're good to go!

Now...lets see what else we can come up with to help each other out (especially me...lol).

Thanks ladies!!!
Cotton Ball Game for kids - sm
When my daughter was little, we did this game where you put Vaseline on the child's nose and then they stick their nose into a bowl of cotton balls.  Whoever has the most cotton balls stick to their nose wins.  I am not sure if this is age appropriate, but I know she and her classmates loved it.

You could hire an attorney, but try the above first. Good luck.

answer the questions game for mimi
How old are you?

How long have you been an MT?

What state are you in?

Is it cold where you are tonight/today?

What is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?

Who did you most want to be like when you were a kid?

If you weren't an MT what would your career choice be?

If you could go on vacation to anywhere in the world where would you go?

Last but not least...

If you won 1 million dollars and couldn't spend it on yourself what would you do with it?

(this should keep you busy for a while Mimi!!)

Quiet today, so Im sure nobody will mind a game...

For goodness sake, it's only a little league game..
this is why sports parents should be made to just sit down and shut up. Wow, you have a lot of resentment towards this woman to make such comments about her. Bring the earplugs or stay home.

Wii skate board game question sm
If one buys the WII skateboard game will it work without a balance board? I foolishly asked my grandson to look through some games for Christmas and he chose a WII skate board game, now I am worried that you have to use a balance board which costs $100+, I am confused as I googled it but can't understand if it is necessary. Hate to disappoint but I may have to. Replies appreciated, TIA.
