I don't want to frighten you. My sweet old cat was 20 years old, and unfortunately, she behaved the way you've described for about a month before she died. She would cry out, not as if in pain but more to announce that she was around. She would also sort of wander around the house, and I'd find her in places that were odd for her. She normally had a couple of favorite spots for lots of napping. She had a good appetite, though, until just a few days before she died. One morning, she just laid down, seemed to doze off and didn't wake up. She did live a long and healthy life, though.
If you feel uneasy, take her to the vet just to be sure she's o.k.

dog won't behave, can't read either ??!!
your post made me laugh out loud - he even ate the packet that said "DO NOT EAT" !!
BF has same problem with Rott/Husky mix, darn dog is too smart for his own good. Very well behaved when we are home, but when left alone barks endlessly, chews furniture, DVDs etc. Tried using nylon muzzle for 3 days,(please no flaming - I hated this idea), the dog hated this but began to behave afterwards. He really learned cause and effect.
that's how all husbands should behave..nm
