Maybe it isn't as popular or prevalent as it was back in the day, but I took sewing and cooking 4H, as well as horse club. Once our projects were completed, they went to the fair, and I even got blue ribbons a couple of times! Here's a thought - maybe we should try to drum up more interest in rejuvenating 4H, and volunteer to teach like they once taught us. Kudos to all the folks in my community that were 4H leaders. Guess its time to pay it forward.
