I was diagnosed when I was 19, have been on Synthroid most of that time. It's great. Take it on an empty stomach in the morning, try to take it at the same time every day, to keep your drug level in the your blood steady.

For a couple of years, I used the generic levothyroxine because they said there was no difference, but for me, there was a difference and now that I'm back on Synthroid, I feel much better, calmer, and my skin doesn't itch from dryness like it did when I was on the generic. Everyone is different, so if the generic works for some of you, don't come on here and tell me I'm crazy. I've taken thyroid for 40 years and know as much or more than some doctors do about it.

In 2 or 3 weeks, taking the Synthroid will be second nature to you. Good luck to you.
