My kids were playing out in the yard, and I stuck my head out the door and called them in for dinner. My daughter, the youngest, had a head start and was racing her brother for the door. Just as she got near the house, she looked back over her shoulder to see if her brother was gaining on her, and turned around right in time to smack directly into the side of the house.

Her nose was displaced to the side and was swelling, and so I got to spend an enjoyable few hours in the ER in which the doctor looked at her injury, and told me firmly that I would have to wait out HERE and he wanted just HER to go into x-ray.

The accident was just a few days before getting family pictures to send out with Christmas cards, and she was sporting two of the blackest eyes I've ever seen for it.
