Yeah, my bro. said what you said - not spending a lot of time in sm

condo except to sleep, etc. Both places have nice kitchens, though. I don't know. I usually spend the most time in the condo. We will be there 8 days. Thanks for your input..Still torn though! haha

How much time do you plan on spending in condo?
If it is just a place to sleep and shower while you do the tourist thing, I would go with the cheaper place. But if your plan is to spend time with family talking, hanging out, I would go to condo and relax on beach. The men can go golf while you relax on beach even. If there is a kitchen in the condo and not in the other place, you will save money on food, and it is always fun to hang in a kitchen, cook together, have a few drinks and a few laughs.
Spending time with parents, absolutely
Mother and daddy divorced but my brother and I spent summer vacations, Christmas, visited daddy, traveled with him and his wife. Tried keeping my children and now my grandchildren close with my mother and daddy (their grandparents and great-grandparents). My son spent summers with both grandparents when he was young but as he aged, they did not seem to be that important in his life. I always, always visited my parents, my grandmother (only one I ever knew out of the 4, others deceased), my aunts, and on and on. I was never asked to stay close, that was just me and I loved it.
Yeah, my DH just came in here and told me - about time - nm
xx
Yeah, it's bulb planting time. I have 8 different kinds of
tulips and my garlic and onion bulbs to plant.
Yeah - one time I told a neurologist that Cafergot was - sm
useless for my migraines. She seemed somewhat preoccupied while I gave her the history, etc. She gave me what I thought was an Rx for something else. (Couldn't read her writing!) Went to the Pharmacy, and you know what she prescribed? CAFERGOT! At that time I worked for the same place I got my healthcare, and ended up transcribing my own office visit note. What did she say? She said that Cafergot 'worked well' for me and therefore she was refilling the Rx.

Their heads are somewhere else, (or else UP something else), and not on their work.
We have been spending less than 100
And we are starving. DH took over going to the grocery store from me (He thought I spent too much when I would spend about 150 a week.) It has been months since we do not have a bare cupboard. I am not complaining. I understand we are broke and he needs to pay the creditors. But the one person who has pretty much stopped eating is me. I am home all day and there is never bread to make a sandwich and I often pass up supper because I am tired of eating junky stuff like mac and cheese or spaghetti with meat sauce. He and our 11 year old son, on the other hand eat thirds of whatever meal it is. I get kind of annoyed. Our littlest boy and middle girl eat very little. All 3 take their lunch to school. I say to DH either stop eating so much (for him and the older boy) or buy more. He flips his eyes at me. We even stopped getting microwave popcorn which used to fill them up. So, now I am hoping to work extra to go to the grocery store myself and put an extra 100 a week in myself, but I keep running out of work.
You see, this all started when we started running out of work in transcription about a year ago this fall, and my DH took over the bills. Apparently food was the first to be cut. And, BTW I don't ever go anywhere because there is no gas in my car, and it has 2 flat tires. We live by the school and I borrow DH's car to take the kids but it is always on empty. We seem to make it every time. Oh, well. No need to complain. Just cutting back. The family is lucky I work at home, don't use gas, barely eat. But I do have to pay 10 bucks a month for nerve pills, because it is hard doing without. Like I said, when work picks up transcribing first place I am going after I get gas for the car is to the food store. Eventually I can repair my flat tires.
For those of you spending $1000+
What sorts of things are you buying? I don't think I spend nearly that amount, but my children and family still receive what they want, even my teenager. I can't imagine spending so much money at one time on gifts, so I'm curious what it is that's costing y'all so much. :)
Let him - for the money you/he is spending in gas sm
you can probably get one of those weekly hotels and at least break even. he needs to tell them up front what he is doing and get a good discount, most will give them if long-term situations. he will get a lot more rest and be a much happier person and easier to live with in the long run. driving wears me out more than anything and i feel for him with that commute! maybe he could even get his job to split the cost with him.
Lunch spending
My husband usually brings leftovers for lunch. I give my daughter $20 for lunch at school (to put in her lunch account), and that usually lasts a week. My other daughter is home by lunchtime and she eats what we have here at home. We spend about $100 a week on groceries. On the weekends we usually go out at least once, maybe twice for lunch and spend anywhere from $15-$25 depending on where we go. My oldest is a vegetarian so we actually save money because if we get takeout, she usually doesn't find anything that she wants to eat. When I was working outside the home I spent way to much on lunch every day, usually about $50 a week.
How is it your money she is spending?
President Obama and his wife have their own incomes from royalties, etc., from his book deals, investments of their previous earnings, and also he receives a paycheck for being President just as you do for being an MT.

I don't think that eTransPlus thinks they can tell me what to buy with my paycheck because they send it to me. Once I accepted a job and do my job, it is none of their business what my check is spent on.
If you can't reconcile your views on $, spending sm
and happiness (i.e, that both of you deserve to be heard and to be happy), you are rapidly heading for divorce court. Go read some Suze Orman financial advice for women, for a start, and then get some counseling. He is obviously irresponsible with money and you are not. How old are you two, out of curiosity?
How I am spending my money, ah, vacation
I am getting the FULL retirement because reached the 66 year mark. I had to wait an extra year, used to be 65 but with my year of birth had to wait until 66. No slowing down on the MTing, plan to work the same 4 days as doing now. I sure am planning on doing something special, well first 2 checks and then some because of the cost, escorted travel club, planning on paying towards 3 different vacations, one of them being the Rockies and Canada for 9 days. Excited broad here.
Well, I have not changed my spending habits.
I changed my spending habits based on my own personal situation, not the fact that my neighbor has lost his job and now can't spend like that anymore.

One of our problems is that the people with all the money do not spend in proportion to their income as us poorer folks do. They save it and save it and grow more money from it and their money is not being put back into the economy.

I for one have no problem with a millionaire spending $500 for a pair of shoes or whatever else they want to spend their money on.
Didn't plan it, but seems I am spending mine with a SM
terrible head cold. UGH!
Not broke but have changed spending habits.
I did reel in some spending a bit and changed a few things in the budget.

Have no intention of going broke.

Don't smoke either. LOL Couldn't afford to with the new taxes on those things!

I feel your pain too, but not spending my money is not going to help you - nm

Cutting back on Christmas spending this year

I thought it might be a good idea to post ideas for gifts that are inexpensive. I have made a few Christmas gifts in years past, but, since I've already given these particular gifts and my family members already "have one", I need new ideas!

I will start with the ideas of gifts I have given in the past:

I made family wreaths for each of my kids (grown). What I did was, buy a nice size wreath at the craft store, purchase inexpensive small frames at the dollar store (or wherever I could find them), made copies of baby pictures of my kids when they were little, family picture, pics of the grandbabies, etc. and framed each one - wired each framed photo onto the wreath, put in some berry sprays or whatever, and a 20 count string of white lights and some ribbon. Then I sprayed them with spray glue and sprinkled with the white snow stuff. Also, I put a few blank frames with Christmas card fronts so that they could add pics from the inlaws (who I did not have pics as children) and new baby pics as appropriate.

They were darling! My daughter in law actually cried when I gave them their wreath!

I also made a similar thing for my mom - I made her a Grandchildren tree - because she has too many grandchildren to get all their pics on a wreath. I just purchased a small, prelit tree from Wal - Mart, and basically, did the same thing - framed pics of all the grandchildren and children, glued ribbon to the back of the frames - hung them like ornaments, added some ribbon and some berry sprays. It was beautiful and she has used it every year since, because it is small and she can put it together herself - without much work.

I will post more ideas in a little bit, but, I need other ideas from all of you - because, how many memory or family wreaths can you give . . .

Make a list of budget/spending priorities for your self employment income
Dave Ramsey's book has a irregular income planning sheet. Basically you list your expenses with the cash flow sheet. With any steady income you allocate it. For irregular income, make a list from the cash flow sheet of what needs to be paid first. Keep a culmulative total.

Spending a romantic weekend in Atlanta with hubby. Leaving at noon. Can't wait! nm

yeah, yeah - Was/still am a Sam Cooke fan...

have a series of his albums (Sam's) and my older sister was into Jackie Wilson (he died very young)......never will be anything like Motown was..........*nods*......

No! That sounds too desperate. TIME. Just give it TIME. If it is real, then sm
something will definitely evolve. If you like him, flirt back! Don't act desperate because if he DOES like you, then the suspense will just make him want to get to know you more. Trust me on this.

I worked in the medical records department of a hospital when I was single and dated a few co-workers in my early 30s. It was fun. Nothing serious came about any of the relationships.

This sounds like fun - the beginning of maybe something to come....Keep us informed.
Totally agree, get these from time to time since teens...sm
It's a neuro condition, it does not mean there is anything at all wrong with you, it is actually related to narcolepsy, hypnagogic (sp? I just got up!) hallucinations, etc. And I HATE when I get these, it is always freaky, my siblings get this too, at times. I can "go away" for years and years before you get another episodes, so don't worry! I heard that when you are under a lot of stress or are very busy with things that this happens more??? Take care!!
It's time to stop when you or the kid(s) feel it is time, and no sooner. sm
My grandmother (who passed away at the young age of 107 back in the mid 1990s) was STILL celebrating every little holiday for all of her many kids and grandkids, and she would STILL give me a chocolate bunny every Easter, as she had since I was a toddler and even though I was 40ish at the time (and I still delighted in biting its head off in front of her, as I had also done since I was a toddler, which always met with mock disapproval from her).

Don't let anyone dampen your joy in celebrating your traditions.
The very 1st time he talked about killing you, was the time
The guy sounds like a psycho.
Rachael Ray has a segment from time to time
on using the bottom of the bottle receipes (i.e. bar-be-q sauce, peanut butter, maple syrup) and I have used many of her ideas and been amazed at how far you can stretch a dollar that way. Go to her website, it will give you many ideas.
Oh Amy, surely there was a man who "kept" you from time to time..
or you were at least married and had access to money!
It was a great time - I just hate the time we are in now
I liked your post. Thanks for replying It's nice to know other people were raised like me. We seem to appreciate the things we have. Oh I should've also said we didn't have A/C growing up. My parents idea of A/C was having my sister and I wave a piece of cardboard in front of them. HA HA HA.

I just couldn't stand the 90s and 2000s are even worse. I hate all the politics going on today, the world events, the bleak future. The degenerates running around, listening to kids talk back to their parents, girls gone wild, etc, etc. I'm grateful my grandparents and mom are not alive anymore to have to go through this with us.

I love watching old movies and the music of the 40s/50s. If I was alive back then I would've been doing the jitterbug and all those other fun dances. Life seemed simpler and cleaner (even though I've got a mouth like a sailer - guess I got that from my Army days).

I wouldn't mind the turn of the century either. I love the clothing and the simple life. Those are the times when the husband took care of the wife. If I could be transported back to the 1800s I surely would in a second.
Time out and then spanking if time out
If we are out in public however, we do not go home. Spanking right there and then and the kids learn REAL QUICK mom means business. I do not mess around and I have a 17-year-old now that has enlisted in the military and THANKS me for his tough upgrowing. It helped him through basic training.
Well, I have questioned myself from time to time.
I figured this was typical.  DD has lots of friends but two real close friends.  I guess this is all part of building social skills.  I am glad I did okay then.
Same thing happens to me from time to time - sm
if I roll over too quickly. I have positional vertigo. There is not too much you can do about it except try not to move or get up too quickly from a supine position. I have never had an earache in my life either so that has nothing to do with it. I don't ever feel sick from it though, just more of a nuisance for me every now and then. If it keeps happening obviously get checked out, you may have a more severe case, though again there really not much you can do about it, all it is is some particles in your ear breaking loose and that causes the dizziness, etc.
If I had not asked time and time again
for the daughter to ask me are you upset- are you angry- are you in a bad mood- People can think what they want- She is a very intelligent person and my asking to please should be enough. Gest of the posting. Selfish, OMG, that is really a laugh. I have and do take care of others well before my needs- I have given of myself, my time, my finances, the whole thing until, now this will sound selfish- it is my time now. I take care of me now- this is selfish but this is the truth. I raised my family, did all I could (still do for the daughter if she needs assistance which she never asks for but I offer)and now in golden years, me time.
Yes. Next time put a time limit on it., but is there any way you
nm
I keep it in the office part time and on the patio part time
I've got the self-cleaning electric litter box (and boy is it worth the $100), and have a huge throw rug under it with a smaller rug by the litter pan that has a bumpy mat on top of it to catch the excess. I keep it in the office from April to October but on the patio from October to March as it is too hot in FL to leave the patio door open for them during the summer months. I also put out a spare box when we go out of town for the weekend.

Try a box that has deeper sides maybe, or not as much litter in it?
Yeah!
I'm so glad to hear she's improving. :-)
yeah
i tell ya it is the account, the others mt's complain about it too. i understand all the companies have their good and bad, but i have no idea who i should be looking at for rad work and who i should stay away from. there are always gonna be disgruntled exemployee. i would just like some unbiased opinions on who to look at and who to stay away from!
Oh yeah she was
She may not have had a choice in keeping that boy for awhile. This woman didn't even do a good job at acting like she was sad at her daughter's death. If Anna hated her mother at the time, she's perfectly entitled to. You don't have to love your mother just because shes your mother, just because its the right thing to do. Unfortunately they were not able to mend their differences and give forgiveness before her death. The moment was what it was, at the time she hated her so I believe her wishes should be respected.
Yeah!
I'm glad you did it. I hope things improve for the kids.
yeah, i just went to the doc sm

it was a new patient visit.  i thought i'd try a different doc, but i like my old doc better.  i didn't talk to him about being tired alot.  i did talk about my leg.  i have vericose veins in my left leg that give me problems.  i'm only 35, but feel old! ha!  my leg will swell a little, is warm to the touch and aches almost every day.  you sound like you do really good!  i wish i could get myself on a good schedule so i can at least walk every day.  my 5 y/o will be starting kindergarten in the fall, both my kids will be gone all day so i hope to get on a better schedule than what i'm on now.  my 5 y/o now goes to preschool three days a week and i take him and pick him up, takes time away from my work, so then i sit here and try to stay caught up on my work.  my bp runs ok i guess.  when i went to the doc on wednesday, it was 118/??? 80 something i think.  what is considered low??

thanks for your input!

Oh yeah!

Yeah, but if she is saying
she forgot it at home, then it can't be true. She would remember eventually if it is sitting there at home. I don't know what I would do, guess it depends on your relationship with her. As for me and my sister-in-law, I would simply say don't lie to the poor child, just tell him you didn't have the money to buy him anything and you're sorry!
Yeah, tell me
about it! They are nasty! That's why I would actualy like to take my kids to a nice beach this year!
YEAH RIGHT!
You watch he will turn around and sue! I glad they refused service. He is so arogant!
Yeah, and they will tell you that they
will accept a settlement, and take a lesser amount as a payment in full, but what they don't tell you unless you pin them down on the phone is that they will put that on your credit report, that it was settled for less than the full payment.
Yeah me!
Miss Lily's mom here.  I went to the vet today to go over Lily's lab work.  We had her tested for every allergen known to man and she's allergic to mites off the chart basically.  I also brought my brother's dog in since she has a lipoma the size of a softball that I want removed. Anyhoo, the vet was talking about how hard it is to find good help with the animal for the weekends and how hard it is to truly tell if someone will be good with the animals or not until they get in there.  I told her I was looking for something besides transcription to do part time, so she gave me a job. :-)  It's mostly cleaning but I'll get give the weekend animals their meds and treatments and do some filing and typing...all that fun stuff.  I didn't even ask what she paid, as I'm sure it isn't much but it will be a nice change of pace.  Plus I get free vet care. :-)
yeah....
it's called YMCA.
Oh yeah, here we go...

I can sure sympathize with you here.  My mother is going through same thing.  I have 5 siblings, there are(were) 4 girls 2 boys.  My next to oldest sister was in an auto accident 12 years ago.   She was one of those champagne on a beer budget and just thought she was better.  She and the younger of 2 boys were like peas in a pod.  Very close.  She was in a vegetative state after the accident.  My brother was in charge of her SSI money and such.   He would bring my mother money every 2 years.  Well at 5 years he just quit speaking to everyone, even his child.  Have not seen or heard from him in 7 years.  Why would you just quit speaking to your family?  No one has done anything to him.  He dated a friend of mine one time and told her he was from Canada and that he had a different father than us and that was adopted and not to ever let my baby sister know because she would be devastated.  Well ???.  He had/has this fixation with Canada.  He is not from Canada.  He even looks like my father so it is obvious.  No reason for him to be ashamed.  We are not well off but we are certainly not lacking and we are all hard workers.  He has just disappeared.  My mother tried to kill herself when she was pregnant with him because of other reasons, but blames herself for him being this way.  She did not harm her pregnancy, just believes in things coming full circle.   Well sister that was in accident passed away back in Nov.   This brother does not know that we are aware of.  Older sister has a pill addiction (I’ve told this story on here before, sorry.).
At any rate she allowed my mother, who was taking care of her recently after some surgery, to see her messed up on some pills.  Mother and I did a mini intervention back in April, have not heard from or seen sister since.  Mother used to speak to her every day.

I just saw her today after going by to pick up something she had of my mothers.   She asked how mom was doing, I said fine and probably better if you would call her and talk to her.  Her response was…”ell the phone works both ways.  She could call me.”  I said, yes your right it does work both ways and you were in the way so you pick up the phone and apologize.  Her response, “Well she’s the mother she should know better.”  This girl is 50 years old, how childish and irresponsible is that.   I feel she owes an apology and my mother said, which is true, what good is it if she does not mean it.  She just does not want to see her end up a vegetable like my sister.  So she feels now she has lost 3 children.  My mother is 70y/o and does not need this stress.

You don’t either.  You just have to reach a point that you must move on with your life.  My mother dwells on this and how do you just walk away?  Makes me so angry.  Told sister that our little sister would be coming in from Michigan (darn near canada! HMMMM ..joking) in July and told her when and that we were planning to spread sister’s ashes then.  “Well we’re going on vacation that week”.   Well fine, I say let them go.  If she can sleep at night and the drugs are more important than her family, I say so be it.  I’ve been really freaking about trying to find my brother in the last few months.   Was told that if I could find SSN I could check with SSD and they would tell me who paid taxes in last on him.  For all we know he could be dead somewhere but how do you find someone who obviously does not want to be found!  What are they thinking!

The way my mother feels is that people like that that don’t even care for their own flesh and blood cannot care for anyone, much less themselves.   They did not mind asking for money and a place to live everything they needed it and she always gave to them.

Oh, yeah sm

That's the first place I feel it. Do whatever you can to reduce the stress and if that doesn't work, see your doctor.

Of course, I am good at giving advice, but I haven't seen a doctor about my stomach problems.

Yeah let me know - thanks (nm)
x
Yeah, my cat. Should have kept the cat.

Yeah, what is it about
yard sale buyers who think they can dictate what time an individual seller has to be open for "business." ? If I want to start at 9:00, then my sale is only for those shopping after 9:00 - don't be knocking on my door. @@

Yeah, I know-don't
rag on me. He was really sick a couple of years ago with a fever of 105 and I didn't want him upstairs. I wanted him downstairs with me so I could check on him all night and keep track of his temperature. Well, he has never gone back upstairs. His sister scared him up there and he is too scared to sleep up there. We are planning on fixing up his room soon and get him a new bed and hopefully, that will help. What is so unhealthy about it?
